Great articles and short stories, terrible ad scrolling & finding the articles

Too much click bait forced scrolling makes ThoughtCatalog unusable if you are looking to get in read your piece and then go back. Medium or Quora are much more stable app platforms. The ads keep stacking up higher in the feed as you scroll down the list of articles which are displayed as tiles. The tiles keep getting buffered out of the screen. The ads are designed to interfere with your scrolling. I’m still looking for the article from the website that prompted ThoughtCatalog download, and screen recorded my experience in ThoughtCatalog just to have the feedback for any of ThoughtCatalog developers. The platform is free but the cost is your time spent sifting through the ad interface. There has to be a better way to make ThoughtCatalog work as well as the adverts. There are really good articles (which you have to scroll down past creepy to get to the digital dating and romance authors).

My solicited and uncompensated feedback. You’re welcome.

Disappointed, but hopeful

I downloaded ThoughtCatalog yesterday after perusing the site. Let me say, this is an app I want on my phone because, well, it invites me to be thoughtful. As a professional writer, it’s nice being able to find inspirational content from other professionals and have them all in one place. The problem here is the website to app transition isn’t intuitive AT ALL! Like others have stated, the absence of a search bar is almost laughable really. I’m not even able to find the article I was reading when I thought to download ThoughtCatalog . Also, there’s no way to favorite any of the articles on the site, either. There’s literally no site to app integration whatsoever. The two are completely independent. I’m sure others would sign up for a membership of sorts just to have ThoughtCatalog & site function more seamlessly. Hoping developers take these things into account because I love the concept. I’d much rather spend my idle time reading content of this nature than aimlessly scrolling social media.

Great app for self help!

The content on ThoughtCatalog and the website is fantastic and very informative. The only issue I have with ThoughtCatalog is that if I leave it for any amount of time (going to a different app or locking my phone) ThoughtCatalog screen goes completely white and you can’t navigate anywhere else within it. The only way to “fix” it is to close ThoughtCatalog entirely and go back into it. While this is inconvenient, I’m still using it. I just have to find the article I was reading when it happened, which is also inconvenient because there isn’t a search option or a “recently viewed” space. You have to scroll through all the other articles within a topic section.
Again, this isn’t going to prevent me from using ThoughtCatalog , I just hope it can be fixed.

Excellent app

For anyone who wants to increase their emotional or social intelligence. Excellent for learning how to be more aware emotionally and mentally. ThoughtCatalog makes you feel like you’re not alone and the struggles you’ve went to are relatable-as these articles are written by authors who went through the exact same thing. Great for coping with breakups, deaths, zodiac sign articles, body positivity articles and more. Highly recommend

Life saving (literally)

The last 2 days haven’t been easy and the little reminders help so much. Last night, I almost took my life but I looked on my phone and it was a reminder saying “Thank you for being alive. The world is better because you are in it.” It was like the universe came in lmaoo. But like this is an amazing app and really encourage y’all to download it.

love this, but why did they take out the faith topic category?

i love ThoughtCatalog! which i found online somewhere, and one big reason was because of the awesome faith related publishings that they had. I noticed a couple days ago that they took that category off and i got so sad. it was one of the best ones, and i hope they put it back soon. that’s why i have it 3 stars, if it was still up i’d be a full 5. i love the other topics, but please think about putting the faith one back!

In LOVE

I started out finding Thought Catalog articles on Pinterest, then eventually found them on Instagram and now ThoughtCatalog is HEAVEN. It feels like there are unlimited things to read for every situation and emotion, right there all in one place. Sometimes I feel like it refreshes on its own while I’m scrolling and I lose my place, but other than that I have ZERO complaints. I am obsessed with it!

New app is a big improvement!

Enjoying the new app a lot. I can store my favorites now, many of which I refer back to and read again and again (esp. when I need a little pick-me-up or encouraging words). I started reading the Creepy section recently (it’s so good!) and it’s generally easier to find and scroll through just the topics I like now. Yay.

Needs Search Feature

The content on Thought Catalog is INCREDIBLE. I can’t stop reading and there seems to be a never ending source to read from. I also love that it’s free. My *only* complaint is that there’s no way to search for specific articles. I found one on their website and wanted to save it but have to scroll for an hour to not even find it on ThoughtCatalog .

The new app is AMAZING

The latest version of ThoughtCatalog is what I always wanted from Thought Catalog and I am delighted it’s finally here. It’s super easy to navigate, has minimal ads and allows you to save all your favorite articles for future reference. It’s amazing and I am excited to be reading thought catalog every day again thanks to it.

My favorite app

I can’t say enough good things about thought catalog. The little reminders notification always comes up when I need it the most. The articles are so relatable, and helpful. It’s honestly my favorite app for sure!💗

Love the App - 1 Issue😕

ThoughtCatalog is 🔥- I would’ve gave 5 stars but due to it not having a search area kinda blows.. If I want to find a specific piece I have to go through the entire thing - which is not that bad because I always find one then another, ultimately forgetting the one I was actually looking for😏..

Great App

I took off one star because I would have liked for ThoughtCatalog to have a search bar so I can search for specific types of articles that way. I do have a couple of favorite articles on TC that I’d love to find and reread but those specific articles are harder to find without a search bar, especially if they weren’t recently uploaded.

Notifications and Search

I love using ThoughtCatalog, but for some reason I stopped getting notifications of Reminders. But I still receive articles notifications. I also hope that there could be a search bar, so I wouldn’t have to google it. Thank you!

This will explain life when you’re lost

I was lost in life, love, emotions, etc. until I found ThoughtCatalog. My life never felt good enough but now I have this to turn to in my everyday rollercoaster of life. Multiple writers submit their opinions, experiences, and life lessons to share with anyone who needs to be reminded. LOVEE

Too basic

Why I hate ThoughtCatalog: (1) No search function. Seriously? (2) No way to link from webpage to the same article in ThoughtCatalog . Not well thought out—ironic for the name of ThoughtCatalog. (3) No way to search even by tags. (4) No way to save a favorite article on the site and have it link to favorites in ThoughtCatalog . Garbage. Instantly deleted it. Developers put very little thought into this worthless, user unfriendly app. (I am using iOS and Safari, latest versions.)

LOVE

I absolutely love Thought Catalog! I followed their Instagram page for a couple of years and found out that not only do they have an app but a podcast as well! I love reading an article every night before going to bed

Love it but it could be so much better!

I absolutely ADORE Thought Catalog!! However, ThoughtCatalog has a tendency to just close out or freeze or not let me be able to click on an article that I want to read :( Please fix as I would get a ton more use out of it if so! Thank you!! :)

Great idea, a little buggy!

Lovee the concept and idea of ThoughtCatalog ! So glad they have one now! Just wish it wasn’t so buggy! Sometimes when I exit an article ThoughtCatalog scrolls up or lags. The same thing happens when I’m scrolling past an ad... Please fix it!

Love this app!

The quotes ThoughtCatalog sends to my Apple Watch every day are the best. They’re always exactly what I need when I need it. The articles are also great and well written. ThoughtCatalog is aesthetically pleasing and easy to use. 10/10
