Tonight the new episode of HOTD came out and I went on max to watch it but it wouldn’t load and kept saying subscription paused due to payment issue I went check my subscription and it said it was active until July 22 after about 2 hours of fussing with max and still not being able to stream the new episode I bought another subscription of $16 and I thought that would fix the problem but no when I clicked the app nothing changed it still said subscription paused this is so frustrating and a big waste of money!!! After being so frustrated I decided to just make a new account since max was of no help and I paid for ANOTHER subscription and then when I got to the home page it was telling me to renew my subscription! THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! I spent well over $30 in ONE NIGHT and have reached out to max several times and they completely ignored me I would live my funds back or at least a working account???? For something I paid for like hello ??? The amount of glitching and lack of costumer service is insane 0/10 for sure !

Every time I stream the app on my tv from my phone it glitches. For example, I’ll put on a show I want to watch, put on an episode and it’ll work after I exit out of the app. But as soon as I turn my phone on and go into the app it completely restarts the episode of the show on my tv. I cant turn up the volume of what im watching from in the app, I cant fast foward or rewind the episode without the entire episode starting over because I entered in the app. It’s especially annoying when I turn my phone and the last app I was on was HBO so it’ll automatically restart after I enter my phone. The app has other glitches too, like not being able to turn the “read aloud” subtitles off that talk over the entire show I’m watching. Sometimes the option to turn them off will be there, and sometimes it won’t. I have great internet connection, my cache is cleared for the app, I’ve tested all the casting options on my tv, restarted my chrome casts, AND my Roku tvs, I deleted the HBO app and re-downloaded it but still the same problems. I’ve been waiting over a month for a new update that might fix these bad bugs. But nothing has changed. This app does not work how it says it should.

I spend my life consuming movies and tv shows on various platforms and devices. It is truly unbelievable how bad the “Max” experience is on iPad Pro and Apple TV 4K. Normally the content I watch on every single other streaming service is bright and vivid, showcasing the benefits of higher contrast OLED and MiniLED displays with HDR content. That is completely absent here. I don’t know if Max is just lying to their customers or they are truly just delivering such an awful product and don’t care one bit. I think its both. I’ve been in contact with customer support so much at this point that I’ve given up, they’ve been of zero help and I’m exhausted trying to explain what a disaster and failure their new service has been. Nobody at this company cares. A ton of little things really add up. You can’t rewind properly, it doesn’t display when a show or movie will end, their content doesn’t switch over to HDR, Dolby Vision like every single one of their competitors. They are using some garbage media player. No matter how I’m using the service it’s just an awful experience front to back. There’s just too much to list. I’m so incredibly disappointed and it saddens me how next level bad HBO is now. When my annual subscription is over, I will 100% not be renewing and will say goodbye to HBO after 30 years. Shame on every single person responsible. This is not hyperbole, this service is a nightmare.
