Fix bugs. From friendly dasher-tester

Important information for app developers. Already encountered difficulties several times (Iphone IOS 15)
1. Difficult situation #1. When there are 2 orders on the screen, you need to confirm each pick-up in order to move on. The first order is ready, but the second is not ready for a long time. Problem: I can't undo it myself. There are no buttons in the application: "?" "Help" and there are no buttons "I can not complete this order" "The order is not ready." I have to call or write to the support service or write to the customer to cancel the order, because the support service also does not know that I do not have these buttons in the application when 2 orders are together. It takes me a long time to explain this problem to them. Please fix this.
2. Similar situation #2. Also 2 orders on the screen. But in different places. One of the store is closed. And again there is no way to click on the "help" "?" second order and indicate that the store is closed, take a photo, because this button is not available at this moment in my application. And again I have to call the support service and explain the situation.
Problems with buttons happen only when there are 2 orders at the same time. If the order is one, all the buttons are in place.
I hope this information will be useful for testers and developers of this application. Glad this review helps dashers and their customers to make this service even better! All good mood!

My Experiences as a Doordash Driver

While dashing I hate it when I see “you missed an opportunity”. I tell myself, how could I have missed when it’s not even offered to me. Sometimes these “you missed an opportunity” shows in succession, like three in a row in a matter of seconds. Does this app intentionally do that? I am an optimistic person so when I see “you missed an opportunity” I just smile and tell myself “here we go again, there goes my acceptance rate, it’s going to go down now. I work very hard and I’m dedicated to my job so I always try my best to satisfy my employer and my customers all the time. I have been dashing for three months now, I haven’t declined an offer yet, I always accept whatever I’m offered. Sometimes though, there are offers that I had to pick up from about 11 miles away then deliver it way to the end of town, about another 15 miles. I just tell myself, it’s a normal part of the job so I don’t complain at all. I must commend the “this app Support Team”, they’re always there for me. Every time I get into a situation where I needed their assistance, they’re there and always are willing to help. One time though, I had to wait almost 20 minutes before someone offered to help me. The majority of the time, there’s someone within three minutes.

Great app, a few gripes.

I just started dashing yesterday (March 28th) and I do have to say that for the most part I was somewhat pleased with DoorDash, but at the same time there was two orders that were way, way outside of the service zone, and one was actually closer to another zone so I’m kind of wondering why the consumer app didn’t tell inform person to order from the next town over in between mine and his? They definitely need to work on suggesting much closer cities for rural customers. Especially if a customer only has an order for a double cheeseburger & small fries and nothing else. At least they tipped a good amount. I’m just going to have to get a few other things going before I can do this full-time, until then I won’t mind getting at least a few 100 dollars/wk for my efforts. I also want to tell customers in my area to stop ordering from KFC/Taco Bell, there was two separate customers that were pinged at the same time at that restaurant and neither one of them had their orders completely, that restaurant never has anything in stock, FaceTime my previous experience as a customer at that restaurant myself. I had to make substitutions which was a royal pain to sort out, after texting both customers back-and-forth to find out what substitutions they would like. If someone from this app actually reads this please don’t make dashers go more than five minutes away from the zone, gas isn’t that cheap anymore if you haven’t figured that out already.

Fun but app could be a bit better for dashers

I like the extra $ and it’s a decent gig but I feel that door dash shouldn’t allow the customer to do a no tip. I get them quite often from the same customers and I’m always on time or earlier. Make sure they have extra sauces. Napkins. Etc and I’m always polite and still get nothing from it. Dashers drive their own personal cars to make sure the customer gets their food and we use our own gas to make it happen. 3$ a trip isn’t worth delivering to people ordering 40-60$ of food and we have to go the extra mile for nothing basically. I feel that door dash can implement something on if you order either a lot of food and or a high price amount then the customer is required to tip. Also regarding if a store is indefinitely closed. They should make it easier to know what button to click to say you can’t do the order and not be docked acceptance because it not being your fault. If you click stores closed it should prompt you to say is it closed or closed indefinitely and then take you to the proper area if it’s indefinitely. Other than that. I’ll continue to do this as a side gig because it’s not hard and easy $.

Also I think door dash should do a rewards program on for every order you do you get points to get door dash merchandise to help with deliveries either it be better bags. Drink holders. Shirts. Etc. Would boost people to push for helpful items and or personal merchandise.

It’s ok.

App is ok. I have issues with the maps. Usually faces in the wrong direction when I start. That’s not too big of an issue. What is an issue is getting an order that’s a 20 minute drive out of your zone and having to drive that 20 min back and not getting anything until you return to your zone. If a restaurant can add a gratuity when a party is a certain size, DD can do the same with a certain distance. When you’re in the middle of traffic, you really can’t see how far it really is and what kind of tip they leave until after you accept and stop at the location. Sometimes even going into another county. And forget about reaching support if you’re a dasher. I called 5 times and the automated thing just kept taking me in circles until it hangs up on you. Chatting, I was able to get someone fast through customer support. Dasher support? Nope. No one answered after waiting 30 minutes. Other than that, it’s been ok. Just don’t know why my deposit for the week was shorted from my actual amount. That’s the reason why I called the support line.
Another issue I came across is wait times on food being ready. I keep having to unassign orders because they won’t be ready for 15-20 minutes. I’m not waiting that long for $5. They need to make it so that we won’t receive orders until it’s ready for pick up. Other than that, we’re just waiting time and $6 gas

Inconsistent and Inconvenient

It has potential, but the real issue here is that even though you are working in an assigned area, they often take you up to 20 miles outside of your service area, then you cannot pick up another order until you drive back into your service area. Beyond that if you try to cancel an order that takes you this very far distance, you get dinged for cancellation. So you may have to except an order that will only pay you $1.50, which won’t even cover your gas to get all the way out there and back. At that point you need to hope that the merchant actually has the food ready, or you could theoretically be making less than five dollars per hour.

This is probably an example of about 30% of the routes. The other 50%, this app doubles up much of the earnings, leaves you with a tiny amount of pay, and the remaining 20% are very close by but don’t expect to make much because it is very close by.

Then there’s dealing with customer support when something happens like they send you to a closed restaurant, or the restaurant is taking 20 or more minutes beyond the estimate. At that point the customer likely will not tip you as much, even if you do reach out to them and let them know of the issue. this app customer service will typically give you the response that they will work with you to make it right, but they never really do in the end. You can expect next to nothing out of them, and it will likely even damage your reputation.

Needs major improvements

Let me start off by saying that this app pays way better than uber! That’s the main reason for my 3 star.
HOWEVER! It needs to improve the way it pays out its drivers. Uber only charges .50 cents for instant payout while this app charges $1.99 and I’ve added my card several times and I still don’t have an option for instant pay. They really need to work on fixing this.
Another thing is I don’t know if it’s a slow month or not but they are hardly sending any orders, I’m a 5 star top performer and I’m out driving and receive little to no orders, for that reason I have been doing uber because I cannot afford to be out driving and wasting my gas. Please note that I always go during dinner so no it’s not because I’m going during non-busy hours!!
Almost all fast-food locations should be removed from this app, we don’t have time to wait over 15 minutes in the drive-thru, we lose money when we end up having to wait for the order, I wish this app would understand this. The fast food locations I have the most issues with are POPEYES #1, BURGER KING, WENDYS, AND MCDONALDS. PLEASE REMOVE THEM OR DEMAND THEM TO OPEN THEIR DINING ROOM FOR PICK-UPS OR CHARGE CUSTOMERS AN EXTRA FEE FOR PICKING UP FROM FAST-FOOD CHAINS.
And lastly, tip should be a requirement, there’s no way I’m going to drive over 5 miles for $2-$5 order, that is just a no! The minimum tip should be AT LEAST $3 and even then I will consider accepting the order.

Not sure how to title this....nor rate at this time

Very frustrated & disappointed to wake up this morning & find my account deactivated stating I have committed referral fraud in which have absolutely no clue in how I could have possibly done this. I have only sent out a referral email & one on Facebook each once to my personal email contacts & FB personal friends/acquaintances thru this app link provided in this specific app... how does that go against the rules? I have put in my appeal along with then sent an email back once receiving an email stating that they received my appeal & that I could respond to that specific email & once I did that I got a “delivery failure”stating I may not be in that group allowed to post in or the group was removed...
I do not feel I have done anything against any rules/wrong whatsoever & have only done 2 days worth of deliveries & just got a bit more comfortable & was getting more excited to the opportunity to make the extra much need funds.
I’m just a simple single mother trying to make ends meet not anything by no means excessive or wrong but was looking forward to for example the $20 bonus challenge given only needed 4 more deliveries to achieve it & had 2 days to achieve & if I can’t get reactivated in time I am going to lose out over something I don’t feel was my fault. Not to mention feel embarrassed for it being considered fraud....that’s an awful strong accusation...

App needs alerts for Restricted Area Deliveries

I live near a military base and if you don’t have a pass to get on base you cannot get passed the gate. As it stands now, there is no alert or warning or flag of any kind to let you know that the next delivery is going to take you to a restricted area. This can create a situation where you find yourself with a delivery that you can’t even get close enough to the address for it to let you move forward within DoorDash . The only solution was to call the help desk and have them clear the order from their end. Also, it’s unfortunate that if you decline any deliveries (for any reason, even one such as this) your rating goes down- even if you MUST decline a delivery because it’s in a restricted area. There is no recourse, currently, for that penalty.
Besides this, I realize it is an quasi-uncommon situation, DoorDash worked great! DoorDash makes the job a breeze in all other cases. However, beware that when you first use it, there are a couple quirks that are not very intuitive... for instance, when you reach your pickup destination using the in-app navigation, you MUST hit the exit button to move ahead in the process to confirm the pickup (that one took me a sec and a few trips circling the restaurant to figure out). Overall, it’s a great way to earn some extra cash for a student/parent like myself. Excellent flexibility and earning potential- especially if you like driving and are self-motivated 😏. Good Luck and Stay Safe 😎

System needs some work. For sure.

There are a lot of things I like about this app. The opportunity, convenience, & ability to serve & help others who can’t get for themselves. But...From my very first order it seems I was set up for failure. Being sent to restaurants that often were as much as 10 min behind on an order being ready. More than half of those instances I was late delivering as I walked out of the restaurant or soon after. This is especially the case with double orders. Which means from the start I’ve had a low “on time” score. Not ok. Your algorithm for this stinks. Next. If a customer cancels an order after I accept it, or the restaurant cancels for some reason, it most definitely should NOT count as an incomplete on my score. Yet this is happening. Lastly. I’ve seen a lot of young dashers with friends and/or significant others in the car as company to hang out with while they dash. I’ve even had restaurant owners say something to me. I was under the impression this was frowned upon for safety reasons. But especially now..dashers should be warned against doing this since it violates the 6ft rule and puts your customers at risk. I’ve had quite a few restaurants in my area tell me this is a concern. These things above make those of us trying hard to do a good job look bad. As for the rest. DoorDash is great. It’s an awesome opportunity. You asked for my opinion though so I’m being honest. I haven’t had a bad review on my service yet.

Dasher Michelle Walker

I love doing deliveries! Meeting new people and building a network with the merchants. I have established a few regulars which makes this that much more enjoyable. My only thing is that there seems to be too many drivers out at the same time on certain nights and even during the days lately. Makes it hard to commit full time especially in a small town. I like to stay busy and for the last two weeks I am not busy at all. I can schedule a seven or eight hour shift and actually only work maybe 3 hours. Too much down time. I love being part of a platform where I decide what works for me and change it up by doing deliveries when I go to my moms in Colorado. Being able to work in different cities around the United States is awesome ! There aren’t too many platforms which allow this, I think it is great though because a dasher can keep their ratings high and DoorDash greasy and not lose status as a top dasher if they so choose or they can take vacay! So many great options driving for this app but working for me by me! I’m going to give full time devotion here in a couple weeks I’m praying to be able to quit the working for someone else and be happy doing what I am loving more everyday! Best to you all out there doing the deal!!!

Basically kicked off

I have been a dasher for over 3 years. So about 3 months ago my account started giving me an error message saying I couldn’t dash because my red card is not activated. So I called into cs and was told to order a new red card. I was extended for 2 weeks to continue dashing until I received my red card. I received the card and I wasn’t able to activate the red card so I called cs and they tried to assist me in the process but were no help. They couldn’t figure out what the problem was so they extended me for another 2 weeks to figure it out. Called back still couldn’t resolve the issue. I was told to order another red card and was extended for another 2 weeks. I received the new card and I’m unable to activate this one as well. Called cs and they couldn’t figure it out. Then they tell me oh you didn’t complete the background process and send my a link to do this. I follow the directions in the email. I get an error message basically saying background more than 1 year old not available. Called cs back they extend me for 2 weeks and try to figure it out. This extending process goes on for a while every 2 weeks. Then my issue was supposedly escalated and someone would get back in touch with me but this time I can’t be extended for some reason. It’s been 2 weeks and a haven’t received any response. So basically I was just kicked off with no explanation.

Only good for side hustle

In my one year experience with the dasher app, I found that the best way to have somewhat of a good experience is to use it as side hustle. I pick and choose my orders from the comfort of my house. When you decide to go to their hotspots, you are running like a headless chicken. this app is going to play with you. In addition to that, this app has time management issues. When I first started i did $3 - 5 orders until I found myself waiting 30 min to an hour for the order to get ready and received no compensation for wait time. Big orders like Walmart’s literally ask to carry 5+ cases of 40 water bottles up whatever amount of floors the customer request for delivery. Sometimes you make 3 to 4 trips up and down the stairs. A complete waist of time and energy for $10 - 15 compensation. When you do fast food like McDonald’s in the overnight, the only way to get the order is through the drive thru. On the weekend the drive thru is full. The line goes slowly. You could spend half an hour standing in line, but this app doesn’t take that into account. They mark that delivery as late. Even when you reach out to this app assistance to explain the situation. They make promises that they would look into it, but they never really go ahead to help whatsoever. The system want to take advantage of you. But if you know how the system work, you can take advantage of it. So is the case with the dasher app. All the best everyone.

Saddened

On a few different occasions there has been problems with DoorDash or shall I say glitches in the door dash system. It may say go to McDonald’s pop up right away is go to Burger King pop up right away go to Panera Papa go away etc. etc. Sometimes it does not give you time to accept or decline lately there have been quite a few glitches in the system go to Friendly’s go to Chili’s go to Panera bread go to Friendly’s go to Chili’s. I don’t understand what is happening. If it’s something that means are working out from glitches. I would like to know it is very confusing waste a lot of time gas running back-and-forth quickly trying to get it before someone else can snatch it up. Such as today that had happened two days ago it has happened there were no orders for quite some time. Some people are saying they were having trouble with their app. We logged out we logged in no change.
Also are the customers aware that the base pay or peak pay is not a tip from them. I get many orders small and large with no tip and I think they believe that that is included in the shipping and handling fee is there anyway we can note that to the customers stating this is not a customer tip that we are there for them with a smile and their food and they do not give a tip specially when you have to go across the river to pick some thing up and bring it back across the river again which takes up a lot of time

My thoughts

First night I made close to $20 for 3 deliveries. Not so bad. However, some people are horrible with instructions. What they tell you makes perfect sense in their head but when you get there it doesn’t make sense. Another thing is, while I was closing an order out another immediately popped up and DoorDash automatically accepted it making the person think I was ready to take their order! Right after that happened DoorDash closed and wouldn’t open back up after closing it, reinstalling it, and resetting my iphone nothing worked I basically waited for 40 minutes and decided to go home. Nearly 20 minutes after I got home DoorDash decided it wants to work again..
I open DoorDash back up and what do you know? The same order which popped up & accepted itself was just sitting there. So I cancelled and told support what happened. And by the way the order was 45 minutes away from where I live! No. Other than that if customers would.. I don’t know.. LEAVE A TIP that would nice. I always left my dashers $5-$10 tips because they go out their way to get your stuff & also if customers would put the effort in to be more accurate with instructions that would be nice too. Just my thoughts.

Could be better

I been dashing for a few months now and I honestly think DoorDash could be so much better. Firstly, when two orders from the same place show up at once; we should be given the option to either accept all or accept one. I had a retail order that was more than half an hour away from my location but because I accepted the other order, I had to accept the long distance one too. Secondly, base pay is too low. $2-$3 is nothing especially considering the amount of wear and tear and gas you’ll be needing when working as a delivery driver. I believe it would be more fair to give a honest base pay plus tips of course. Third, there should be a mileage limit. Especially if I’m dashing in a certain area there is no reason I should be given the option for orders that are 10+ miles away. Of course I don’t have to accept them but it makes more sense especially if we’re choosing a select area to dash in. Lastly, for the dasher retail orders, we should be able to zoom in on the pictures or at least get clearer pictures. I’ve had a couple of times where I had to strain my eyes just so I could see the correct measurements on a product. Not to mention, these photos/ products should be up to date. If the company changed their packaging then this app needs to include the picture of the correct packaging so there’s no confusion.

Save yourself the headache

Don’t get me wrong DoorDash itself is okay sometimes when they’re not having technical issues but believe me when I say this is you have a problem customer support is absolutely zero flippin help. This is week three story of a dasher countless emails calls chat supports supervisors and resolution teams I can’t even get into my account. I’ve had my account for almost three years about 3 months ago got reactivated and started to dash again only to receive a “login error” finally get through to support told the team will email me a day later contact again and this time I’ve been told I didn’t opt into a location privacy sharing contract on their end and countless other are dealing with this and they’re working diligently to get the accounts back “okay” we’ll next thing I know I still haven’t heard anything in a week contact again and now I’m being told there’s another person name on my account! Major issue my bank account and private info is on DoorDash so what’s going on?! And guess what I get told I’ll hear back with the team about this and what do you know still nothing and here we are today two calls in trying to figure out what’s wrong and I’ve been told my accounts on the sign up process and I’m not active how does any of it make sense it doesn’t so save yourself your life and stress level before deciding to put your hopes into something like this only to be royally messed when you need help from them

Improve DD app

I’ve only been driving since June and I really do enjoy the job…..when DoorDash is working properly. I’ve spent a lot of time ‘chatting’ with Support or speaking with them by phone. I’ve had several different app issues and most have been addressed. Today was the worst. It was absolutely crippling. After accepting the order, I drove to the restaurant and picked up the order and put it in my car…all ready to go. All of a sudden I had no way to inform DD that I had picked up the order, no information about the delivery other than the customer’s name and no way to contact her to let her know it might be a little longer than was first thought for receipt of her food. I went into the restaurant to see if they possibly had her address or phone number. No. During my time in the store, another dasher came in looking for the order for my same customer!!! DD had moved the order from me to the other dasher because they hadn’t heard from me so they assumed I wasn’t going to complete the order. Bottom line? I passed the food to the new dasher to deliver. She would receive the payment (as well she should) and I not even lost a lot of my dashing time, I LOST THE $$ FROM MY ORDER. Unacceptable. This is a fabulously successful company….they should have state-of-the-art technical equipment. Like I said, I really enjoy the job but issues like this MUST BE addressed.

Dasher support is awful. Scheduling feedback

First of all, Dasher support is atrocious. 9/10 times they don't actually help us because they don't listen or there's a language barrier. They don't understand how DoorDash works. They lack basic customer service skills and only frustrate us more.

Second, why is it that I couldn't reset my claimed time to have an hour less? I scheduled myself earlier in the week for 10am - 8:30pm today. Since last night, I have been trying to change it to 11am - 8:30pm but it will not allow me despite already having that time claimed. I wanted to give up an hour, not get more hours. I should be allowed to do that even if "the time slot is no longer available" because I was already apart of that time slot. It doesn't make sense. I understand that no one else can schedule at that time for more hours but I should be allowed to take time off of my schedule since it's already claimed. It's not like this hour is even worth dashing in (10am-11am).

Finally, the text service is ridiculous. I am bombarded with texts for absolutely every order when I already get a notification from DoorDash itself. As drivers, this text system is distracting and over done. I wish we could opt out of order texts and just received the rest without opting out of texts completely. We need to be able to communicate with our customers but don't need your text service distracting us while we drive. I received 30 texts in 2 hours yesterday. That's nuts.

I think more is to be done

While this is a great way of making some extra cash, many times I’ve been left frustrated. For instance I’ve been to Taco Bell on two different occasions just to realized that they’re closed and you have to use the driveway. By the time you get to the driveway mic, they’re not accepting this app orders. I spent 37mins in a Taco Bell driveway just to be told this and it’s happened twice. I was once sent to a restaurant that wasn’t even open and for all my time spent I was compensated with $0. NOTHING.
I don’t even want to talk about the times they’ve made me do orders way out of my delivery zone. It’s one thing to pick up orders in your zone and deliver out of your zone, but to give me orders out of my zone is not cool. I was dealt a blow when on one occasion I did a delivery out of my zone and since it was going to be my last delivery because I was scheduled to stop in a few minutes, they added my order to pickup another order close to the delivery point of my first order. Remember I was already out of my pickup zone. The second order had a delivery address about 17mins when it would’ve been way above my schedule time. When I finally delivered it, it was a 50mins drive back home. I used to care about my acceptance rates, but not anymore because they don’t care about your contract

I can go on and on, but I’ll end here for now

Don’t waste your time

Don’t waste your time doing door door dash. The only one actually making money is the company. they overcharge customers and really underpay you compare to how much you spend on gas which here in the Bay Area it’s $4 per gallon , what you end up with is almost nothing . Even during peak it’s not worth it because they really under pay each order that you get so most of the time you aren’t even making minimum wage . Also a lot of times the restaurants can’t complete the order which means customer service cancels it And you only end up with half of the money that you were promised when you first accepted the order . Even if you sit and wait there for half an hour trying to contact customer service because each order you cancel looks bad on you even if it’s not your fault whatsoever . For instance yesterday I went into a pho place and they had me waiting before telling me they didn’t have the main entree and the customer wasn’t answering i literally just wasted half an hour between waiting and contacting support so they cancelled it and if they had offered you seven dollars now you only end up with 3.50 and by the time you got back to your car and get a new order a 45 min wait has gone by so that means you are getting $3.50 for almost an hour. If you simply deny the order when you see the wait time being so high you loose the extra pay they promise during lunch and dinner peak time . So nope this is a scam and waste of time don’t do it .

Look for a different delivery job!

I worked for this app for about 6 months or so and I really would not recommend it to anyone especially if you’re able to do uber eats or another delivery type job. It started out with decent pay per delivery but then they did an update and now it 2-6 dollars versus the 7-12 dollars I use to make, they take a percentage out of your tip money, DoorDash constantly glitches and you can’t see where you need to deliver, for some reason DoorDash has a cute little thing where it will take you to the wrong address for a customer, I ended up making 25 dollars in like 3 hours and then had to fill up my gas tank so it wasn’t even worth it! I worked 12 hours on New Years and only made 65 dollars. And it is soooo slow sometimes! Not to mention this app send you to a delivery before the food is even done so you wait forever for the food.. Also it charges you to cash out your money! How stupid that I have to pay a fee to get my money AND you can only use instant pay once in 24 hours. You will make double if not triple the money on Uber eats, you can cash out 5 times a day, order is ready at pick up, great GPS system in app, they DONT take your tips, and it gets nice and busy! I made $160 in 10 hours on Saturday vs the $65 I made on this app working 12 hours on a holiday! It can be okay side money on the weekends but do not do this full time! You will put more gas in then the money you make and it’s just not worth it y’all..

Very Inconvenient

I only use this app for delivering when UberEats is slow and I’m not getting any requests. I don’t like DoorDash. It’ll take you out of DoorDash to another form of navigation (which then usually puts me about 5 or more minutes away from the restaurant if it’s in a shopping center). It’s very slow because I sometimes have to place the order myself when I get there (which I am not informed of until I arrive and swipe that I’ve arrived) and pay with the stupid red card. I also don’t like that you have to check off every single item before you swipe that you’ve picked it up. I also don’t like how you’re scheduled to drop off the orders at a certain time that is not adaptable to real-time traffic. Also it will lower your ‘delivering on time or early’ percentage even if the restaurant doesn’t have your order ready by the scheduled time. The text notifications also really annoy me because I’m already getting a notification from DoorDash , I don’t need 2-3 texts coming through as well. Some of the base Dash fares are so low and not worth it. I can’t even cancel an order after I’ve accepted it, which is exactly what I wanted to do when I arrived and found out I had to place the order and sit here and wait for it because the customer didn’t even call it in. It’s overall a waste of my time. I make so much more money (much more efficiently) driving for UberEats.

It works, but not reliably.

The dasher app does what it absolutely must do for a dasher to do their job, but it’s glitchy. The mapping system recommends going the wrong way down one way streets and to drive on the wrong side of a divided street. It’s frozen several times during deliveries, which forces me to restart my phone to reset DoorDash . It’s also gotten stuck in a loop of asking me to verify the age of a customer who was receiving some alcohol. I would enter the information and press submit, then it would ask me to verify the age again. Any time DoorDash freezes or loops, you have to call a help center to get the delivery status force changed. But, the option to call that center is not given in app. I had to find the phone number online and then save it my phone book for future issues. Every time something like this happens, it wastes your time and delays getting another delivery request. Lately, it’s also been having trouble recognizing when you’re near a pickup point. Thankfully, the programmers thought about that one and made possible for the dasher to change status to pickup even if DoorDash doesn’t recognize that you have arrived at the merchant location. There are some other problems, but this covers the ones I’ve been getting most frequently.

For my money though, it’s still better than driving people around. I won’t mention any company names.

You win some, you lose some.

I have been driving for this app for about 2 months and done 130 deliveries. It’s constant work usually while you are dashing. I have NEVER been able to schedule a PROMO Dash meaning in DoorDash you can schedule a dash that gives you $1-$4 extra per delivery. They always say if it doesn’t let you sign in then all the slots are taken. I have seen these time slots posted at 2am and tried to get one then and it still said it was unavailable. Does that mean that other people were up at 2am or right at posting of the promo to snatch those up.
I’ve also been dashing, received an order, checked in at the restaurant where the merchant said the order is about done. I would check back after 5-8 mins of waiting and they said the order actually was just received and was just not getting started. Drivers are getting sent to the merchant the same time the delivery is getting submitted and not when the food is ready. So you wasting your time sitting at the restaurant waiting for food. We are delivery drivers not delivery waiters.
It’s not always been bad but lately DoorDash crashes and sometimes orders don’t come through on your end and then you get dinged for not accepting the order and then benefits get taken away. I’ve dashed for 3 hours and made $22 and I’ve dashes for 1.5 hours and made $25. You win some, you lose some.

Don’t read any of these 1-3 star reviews lol

this app is very solid. An important thing to note is if you live basically out in the middle of nowhere, you won’t get much out of it but if you live in the suburbs or work in your downtown area; you’ll make a lot more money than you think. I live out in a city smack in the middle where all the highway stops are and the restaurants are packed in plazas and at peak times, i’ve gotten 18-24 dollars an hour. even around midday or afternoon I can grab 40-60 bucks for a few hours dashing. i’m a college student, so I don’t worry TOO much about how much money i’m making but for a kid who’s got no job, this does it for me as a student. I don’t have to worry about annoying customers or smelling like pan grease all day cooking food. I can work when I want, in the comfort of my own car—alone. and the money is truly great—IF you utilize what you are given. do not listen to these 1-3 reviews lol they complain about an app that has bugs that appear once every blue moon. otherwise, they probably live in a rural area where people don’t bother ordering food as much or as often. who tf is gonna order through this app in burlington, vermont?

Major scheduling glitch

So, I started dashing at 6:30pm on June 7th. I did not get my first dash until after 7pm. My first order was from Sage in Old Town, Pasadena. I noticed DoorDash said that I should be delivering by 5:58pm, which is odd because I didn’t get the order till after 7pm. Also, 5 minutes after I got an order for Blaze Pizza in Alhambra. When picking up from Sage, there was no option on app to click picked up, but sent me to Blaze right after. When I got to Blaze pizza O was told the customer never ordered. I contacted the customer and she told me that she was expecting the food by 6pm and since it was now 8pm, no longer wanted the food. I thought it was odd that I was expected to deliver to someone when I wasn’t even dashing yet. So, on the way to two we to the “Sage” customer, it was sending me back to the restaurant to pick up, which was odd because I already picked up. And when clicking picked up so I can go to the address to deliver, it went back to “Dash Now”! The information for this customer was no longer accessible. A few minutes after this happens I was texted by this app that the order was canceled. So, now I have this food and upset because I’ve been driving around and wasting gas and currently on the phone to speak to a representative for this app and it’s been an hour and twenty-one minutes that I have been on hold. I am very upset and do not feel valued as a contracted employee.

Too Many Drivers and App Crashes

I’ve been a dasher for almost a month now and I’ve liked it so far. Although there’s a few things I don’t like so far. As of right now I’m dashing in a busy area in my town. I’ve been doing this for about 4 hours today and I’ve only gotten 4 orders. Door dash is scheduling too many drivers at a time and it makes it impossible to receive orders to make money. Not to mention the pay has been really crappy today. It’s been around $4 per order which is really bad compared to what I usually get. There’s no way that includes 100% of the tips from the customer plus the other fees they pay. Also. DoorDash crashes..A LOT. I had gotten a text about an order and I go to my app to accept it, except DoorDash crashes and I never received the order. I had to restart my phone and as a result of this my acceptance rating went down. Please fix DoorDash crashes and stop scheduling too many drivers!!! If it gets busy there’s always someone in the area to help out.

Doordash Is what you make of it

I have been dashing for over a month now and overall I’ve had a pretty good experience. Most customers are kind and understanding and the restaurants I pick up the food from are usually efficient. As for DoorDash there are many things I like about it. I love how I can dash whenever it’s busy (in my area it usually is busy all day long) and how I can schedule a dash in advance but be able to cancel it with no penalty. The interface is simple and easy to use. I like how you can pause your dash if need be. The pay isn’t bad either with most dashes landing you anywhere from $6-$20 depending on customer tip and delivery distance. And they’re usually pretty generous with the amount of time they want you to pick up the food and deliver it by. You truly can work as much or as little as you want with this app. However, like every job, this app isn’t perfect. Sometimes when im dashing my app will freeze and i’ll have to close it out and open it again. I also don’t like how they draw some of these district maps, I believe my own district if a little too big. Other than that, I’ve had a pretty positive experience so far. Im on 64 dashes and have made about $500 in total.

Just drive for Bite Squad instead.

I’ve been driving for about two weeks now and I’ve had one night where it felt worth it. However, most of the time you can spend around thirty minutes to and hour on an order and make about $10. That might be nice some places but in Hawaii that’s nothing. Earlier today I made about $7 in an hour and a half. One of those orders taking about 45 minutes to complete for only $3. Customers don’t have to tip on DoorDash and because of this they usually don’t. This is my biggest complaint so far. Door dash should make tips mandatory. You can tell when an order doesn’t have a tip because of the absurdly pay when it pops up. If you don’t accept it because it’s not worth the trouble then your acceptance rate drops. Save yourself the trouble and just drive for Bite Squad because they guarantee an hourly wage as well as tips. Out here bite squad pays $20 an hour for the same amount of work. I have yet to earn $20 in one hour driving for door dash. Like I said I live on Oahu, HI so the bad pay has nothing to do with me being somewhere where no ones ordering. I started driving for Bite Squad to check it out and so far I’m already making way more money than I was with Door Dash. Maybe if Door Dash stops neglecting their drivers and being so greedy I’ll start driving for them again.

Can you keep drivers with no pay?

There's supposedly a lot of updates and additional features in DoorDash . I'm not seeing any of them and there's no app update available. Early Scheduling features not avail; drive orders not present (yes I qualify according to the rules); starting point not an option; perhaps it's all in the beta version...of which I tried to join and having issues there too since clicking on the link doesn't present the option to join the beta group...There's a lot of routing issues within DoorDash which affect our ratings; fix your issues; don't blame them on us. Please communicate to restaurants that they need to prioritize Dash orders and differentiate between restaurants that can and can't make that happen; please don't send us to restaurants to sit and wait for 20+ minutes (time equals money and we already drive a TON - I MEAN TON - of miles! Menus are inaccurate. Allow customers to tip after receiving their service (TIPS ARE FOR GOOD SERVICE!), or allow them to increase after delivery (other platforms allow this); currently, we aren't getting paid for the service we provide. this app is more interested in maintaining the most minute, if any, labor costs. Like another user said,,,we work really hard for just ok money....There's some good things: heavy marketing and business is picking up (although seems over projecting on dashers needed!).

Don’t waste your time

DoorDash is full of glitches. It crashes, it sometimes won’t let you end a dash or a delivery, it gives you orders after you’ve ended a dash (which you can’t accept or decline because you’re no longer in a dash), “hotspots” are not really hotspots, and getting in contact with support is very cumbersome and sometimes take a while (meanwhile you’re sitting there waiting in a restaurant). And that’s just DoorDash .

Many of the orders have to be placed in person, which is fine if it’s a fast food restaurant, but when they have food available from high-end restaurants and you have to place the order and sit there and wait, good luck making any money. They don’t keep their online menu up to date, so often the items on the order you receive aren’t even able to be filled, so you then have to call the customer and find out what they want instead. The price your app says is wrong more often that it is right. The orders come to you at the same time as the restaurant, which often leaves you sitting in a restaurant for long periods of time waiting for food to be ready and there is no way to tell them not to give you orders from certain restaurants if you find that the restaurant is consistently slow to fulfill orders. Overall, unless you’re willing to work for very minimal pay, it’s not even close to worth it.

Not worth the drive

This I decided to do because of a bonus I was told I was going to receive. Well number one the payment for delivery is only sometimes great. However they don’t tell you you will have to wait maybe 10 or more minutes trying to find parking for the restaurant then another 5-10 to wait for the order then another 5-10 trying to find parking at the customers home or apartment because they don’t meet you at the curb or outside. All in all one order of $5-10 could take you almost an hour may a little less plus the gas . Also, orders should not be based on an area or town I drive to or what’s “busy” at the moment . it should be based on where a driver is and the location. There are times where I choose a location and then the delivery takes me out of my “zone” and then when my dash ends it won’t let me back in or I have to drive BACK to the same location or a new location. Making that $5-8 I just made completely worthless because I spent it on gas. The “BUSY” could be completely false as I was in a busy area for an HOUR and did not get one order. Also when I click dash now and it asks for how long by the time I choose the area is grey again and I can’t dash and I’m out from making money. This whole app should be revised and changed.

I got deactivated my 2nd day

Okay, so I just signed up for door dash as my side job since I’m not receiving the hours I desire at work due to school scheduling. I was excited to start dashing my first day (aug 19)and it went well! Made a few deliveries and called it a day so I could prepare for school the next. Yesterday, (Aug 20) I went to dash since my area was busy and it told me to ‘activate my account’. I had already done that and made deliveries so I was very confused. I called customer service but they weren’t all that helpful and they were hard to understand. Turns out, they booted me off door dash my second day active because there were ‘too many dashers in my area’ I am currently on a waitlist to resume my dashing. I don’t understand why they let me sign up and get all excited about dashing, only to kick me off the next day without any notification. They said they would email me when I can dash again but who knows how long that’ll take. If they aren’t accepting new dashers in my area they shouldn’t have let me sign up for it then. They should have a cut off limit instead of unlimited hiring and THEN deactivating people. Quite unhappy. Even now when I see my areas red I get confused on how there’s ‘too many dashers’ in the area yet they still need help? I just want to be activated again...

No why to talk to support unless on a run...

And you have to jump through hoops to get to a person... no not EVERYTIME I ask for help it’s going to be “why am I not getting orders” but it is annoying that I was not notified twice about an order coming through but I got notified both times that I missed an order actually I think it was 3 because I didn’t know what was happening the first time ... DoorDash wasn’t loading at the mall so I had to cancel the order because the card wouldn’t work either (probably because I didn’t “check in yet”) and I just noticed in DoorDash while coming here to complain, because this is the only place I can, that I needed to update DoorDash ... so your app acts up THAT much from one update ... you see when I have something wrong on Uber they fix it immediately because I can call them ... they are very responsive and I don’t have to schedule when I’m going out ... which btw I did once and I got no orders for the like 3 hours ... I mean this is a good app to use in nh but I’m glad I paid for insurance to do uber eats they run a better business... sorry... good money to make when I don’t want to go into Somerville but I learned my lesson that DoorDash is not worth the trip into Boston

2.0 I do not recommend driving for Door Dash. Delivery Driver (Former Employee), Grand Rapids, MI – February 25, 2022 Door Dash has a revenue of nearly 5 billion, but you would never know it as a driver. They do not take care of you, and the "support" is an utter joke. This week alone, there (common) app issues cost me 2 deliveries, that they refused to make right. The 1st one was due to navigation issues. I was traveling towards a pick-up, but the app was not registering my movement. I received a text massage stating, "you do not appear to be heading towards *****". I continued traveling towards the merchant. When I was within .2 miles from pick-up, a notification came through stating I had been "inactive" and the delivery was reassigned (which counted against me). I restarted my phone and accepted another order. Upon arrival to that one, the app told me I wasn't actually there. I contacted support. They refused to compensate me, for the app issue. A 5-billion-dollar company, refused to write there wrong with a measly $3.00 (%50). 2 days later, I accepted a delivery at 12:30 and started heading towards pick up. The pickup time was by 12:40, I arrived at 12:36. Upon arrival, I was notified by the merchant that they were given a pickup time of 1:07, and that they would need that extra time because it was such a large order. I contacted support, they again refused to right their wrong by compensating the 50% rate and unassigned me (counting against me again). They didn't even bother to reach out to the customer to see if they were even willing to wait the extra 30 minutes. These types of things happen frequently, to the point I have given up on Door Dash. I will not drive for them any longer, nor will I support them with personal orders any further. Pros Flexibility Cons Horrible support Low pay No pay for additional wait times
