DON’T DOWNLOAD

Do you struggle with anger issues? No? Well you will now. I downloaded ATTWatchTV because I was excited to be able to watch some of my favorite TLC shows from my phone. ATTWatchTV makes me want to throw my phone in the ocean. If you don’t want to watch live television you have to sit through 3 MINUTES of ads for what seems like every 30 seconds. Got a text from your friend right after you finished watching 3 minutes of ads? Best to let your homie think your dead or else you’ll have to sit through ANOTHER 3 MINUTES of ads. Want to close your phone then pick back up later? Cant do that! 2 reasons: 1. You guessed it more ads 2. It will completely forget where you left off or even which episode your on. Thanks! I forget to pick up my kid from school but I’ll remember which minute of which episode I’m on :))))))) oh and I don’t mind watching MORE ADS to get back to where I think I might be!!?!!!!!! You know what makes it all better tho? Sometimes when I’m 2 minutes and 45 seconds into an ad, the next ad decides to not load. Ever. At all. Close ATTWatchTV and try again: it will let you watch another 2 minutes and 45 seconds of ads then stop again. The. Ad. Never. Loads. I have even tried turning my phone completely off just to want to jump off a cliff when the ads stop playing after 2 minutes and 45 seconds again. Long story short: ATTWatchTV gives me depression but I love tlc so much so I continue to let it take years off my life. Don’t download ATTWatchTV . Save yourself.

Almost comically horrible!

This is AT&T, not a small company with a growing/struggling development team. How can you be a major telecommunications company and not know how to design an app?? I literally cannot even log in. It’s been a few days.

I was in the AT&T store deciding if I should switch to AT&T from Sprint. The salesperson talked up the acquisition of Direct TV and how I would have access to all these TV networks. Part of the reason I chose to switch was because I figured I could drop my cable with access to this service. It sounded great! I asked the salesperson to show me ATTWatchTV . I should mention that I work sales for a tech company, we have about 10 apps to use with our products. I have to know those apps inside and out to ensure that our customers have the best experience. The salesperson acted as though he had never seen ATTWatchTV before. He did not have it downloaded on his personal device. When he opened it in ATTWatchTV Store he literally laughed out loud that it had a 1.7 rating. He had no information regarding how it worked, what devices it would work on, or what the user experience was like. I was embarrassed for him and AT&T.

Needless to say I had a feeling from that experience that I would be disappointed with ATTWatchTV , which I am. I mean I haven’t ever been able to log in, so who knows, maybe once you can log in it’s an amazing experience... LOL Get your act together AT&T!

Glitchy,inconsistent and very limited

I’ve pretty much used ATTWatchTV and phone plan since ATT first offered it. This review is strictly for the WatchTV platform. When it works it’s fine, but there is always troubleshooting involved, such as reinstalling app, rebooting phone and restarting program. Occasionally in the last 30 seconds of a live program the WatchTV default page will pop up prematurely before the show is actually over. There are decent movies available but very limited and they only change every few weeks. Some networks don’t have commercials during the movies, but TNT has a ton of commercials which is the network that offers the most movies. It’s hard to make it through half a movie before just turning it off. For Discovery channel, there used to be a ton of shows that were offered at anytime, now what’s live is the only thing available for that network. Bottom line ATTWatchTV is very limited as to what is offered and when. If you just consider it a resource that comes with your phone plan, it’s adequate, but it is in no way on par with OnDemand or Netflix. At least, the functionality should be resolved.

Frustrating login issues and bad UX

It’s currently impossible for me to log in to ATTWatchTV because the login page can’t seem to display the keyboard when I need it to and doesn’t currently allow pasting of my password-manager-stored credentials. This just amplifies the fact that logging in to this service is amazingly bad no matter what device you’re on, because AT&T completely botched the account merging process for their wireless and old DirecTV Now accounts.

If you’re able to successfully log in to ATTWatchTV , you’ll find a poorly designed interface that includes the mind-boggling navigational decision to put the “Guide” button (which opens the list of channels and broadcast schedule, and which I’d imagine is one the most commonly accessed parts of ATTWatchTV ) in the far upper left corner, i.e. the farthest point away from most people’s fingers when holding a phone. Just put this button on the bottom bar, for chrissakes!

AT&T’s lucky that most of us don’t pay for this service as a stand-alone offering, because we’d have all cancelled en masse by now. Sadly I think this fact is also why AT&T doesn’t care to maintain this service’s usability with any modicum of effort. The best we can do is pile on more 1-star reviews and research what kind of entertainment bundles the other wireless providers offer.

AT&T has no shame

This is the worst streaming app ever. I pay a hefty amount to ATT every month. I just want decent service and we’ll-trained, motivated customer support and service. Phone support has steadily declined in quality for the past two decades. Phone coverage and data speed have improved. But their disrespect for customers grows by leaps and bounds. I feel like Charlie Brown trying to kick Lucy’s football. I get fooled every time. A while back out of the blue, they gave me a Direct TV App which included HBO not long after Comcast took it away. How nice. Then one day I couldn’t sign in. Called ATT and after spending a horrific amount of time saying “No” to changing my plan, and getting home TV I eventually found they had jerked the Direct TV App and given me Watch TV. It is useless and infuriating. You can only watch whatever happens to be on live TV on a bunch of really terrible cable channels. Try and watch a show and you get 5 minutes of show followed by 10 minutes of ads. The quality of streaming is terrible, but luckily there’s nothing worth watching. ATT, just improve support and service. Stop pretending to give your good customers perks. It’s insulting. You don’t know how to surprise and delight your customers because you really don’t want to. You don’t get it. You are the Trump of corporations.

Ads, ads, ads, ads, commercial commercial commercial. Is it worth it?

The fact that ATTWatchTV allows data free streaming, makes ATTWatchTV pretty awesome. It's pretty awsome until you realize that while you're watching some of your favorite shows, you'll be watching more ads than your show. The amount of ads is incredible, if you're lucky you'll get 5 minutes of streaming for every 3 minutes of ads. If your unlucky, you can expect 3 minutes of ads, maybe 3 minutes of streaming and another 30 seconds of ads. After all those ads you might get another 10 minutes of streaming, but don't count on it. Also, pray that you don't get a message or a phone call because when you get back to streaming, you'll most likely have to watch another 3 minutes of ads.

It is absolutely amazing how many ads you must sit through to watch your show, then you start wondering if it's worth the monthly rate you're paying. Perhaps it is, considering you get access to other streaming apps for no additional charge. Don't forget those apps also has a ton of ads. Ads, ads, ads, ads, ads, ads, ads, ads, ads. Commercial, commercial, commercial, commercial. To anybody thinking about using ATTWatchTV, I hope you're a patient person.

You don’t even get what you pay for...

I purchased the at&t unlimited and more plan which comes with this “free” app. ATTWatchTV lets you watch live and on-demand tv from any smart device. Notice I said “device”. I have 4 lines on my plan, yet only one device may stream this service at a time. I got over that, but I found out that in order to use a premium channel you must have the at&t unlimited and more “premium” plan. No problem! I got the new plan, but ATTWatchTV won’t let me choose my premium channel. I spoke with several techs at their support departments over the course of a week only to find out that they have to do a “hard reset” in their app department which isn’t going to take place until 4/10. I have been paying for a premium channel for a month and I have to wait for them to fix a problem they already knew about, but won’t do anything about until their specified time. Terrible customer service.

It’s the worst!

First, let me start by saying if I could give 0 stars I absolutely would. I first signed up for ATTWatchTV 2 days ago, when I upgraded and it came free with my unlimited plan. The sing up process was a nightmare. 2 phones on our account, only one person gets this for free, the other is required to pay 15 bucks a month for it. Even though it’s “included” as a bonus for our unlimited plan. Okay. 🙄. So then you sign up. You can log in on the website on a browser, though you can’t watch tv on a browser only from ATTWatchTV , but when you try to sign in on ATTWatchTV it says your username/password combo is not recognized. Well okay. I reset it. Verified it. Reset it again. Called support (3 HOURS ON HOLD!) no luck. I use the chat on the website, after 2 hours of dealing with them all they could tell me was to reinstall ATTWatchTV . Gee never thought of that, jk. Waste of time. So I leave it alone. Next day I try to sign in again and holy crap we get it! I watch 2 minutes of a show and the whole app goes black and crashes! I reinstalled, blah blah and here we are days later and ATTWatchTV still does work. I don’t know who att hires to design their apps and software but GET NEW STAFF. Not a single att related app works, ever!

Zero stars for zero service.

I’m disgusted with AT&T. I was hoodwinked into there Unlimited & More Premium plan. It was great until AT&T decided they needed to log me out for my own security. Once you are logged out, you will never be logged in again. Period. Your password will ALWAYS be wrong no matter how many times you reset it (side note: you must reset it via browser; ATTWatchTV itself throws you back to log in before you can type in anything on “forgot password” page), it will still be wrong. The kicker is AT&T not only cannot fix it, this has been an issue since day one and they still haven’t addressed it/fixed it although they know about the issue. I’m livid. Will not be using them much longer as a provider of anything they offer. Pretty sure they’ve given this Watch TV BS up now, but continue to advertise it and let ppl sign up and pay for something they know doesn’t work now and won’t work in the future. I actually feel bad for the support ppl because I’m pretty sure if there was a way they could fix it, they would. AT&T leaves them on the hook as much as its customers. I recommend not getting tied to AT&T at all. But, if you’re actually reading this, it’s probably too late.

App is just fine people are impatient

So I have been using ATTWatchTV for about a month now and I read a lot of reviews before I downloaded ATTWatchTV as I did not want to waste my time with commercials streams pausing and lagging out for lack of a better term and at first it made me question ATTWatchTV but I said hey I’m paying for the top plan where I get free TV so why not the biggest complaint that I have seen from reviews is that there are too many commercials.........PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!!!!!! it is live TV and I actually did the math behind the time and you’re only about 45 seconds behind the live stream at home versus watching from your phone it goes on regular commercials as you would watch a TV end it actually shows the same exact commercials as it is showing on the TV just as I said 45 seconds behind so ATTWatchTV is great if you’re on the go and you’re watching TV it will feel like you are at home with a real feel of watch I recommend download!!!!

Please fix the problems!

ATTWatchTV is ok when it works. I’m using it on Apple TV and it’s got a couple of very annoying issues.
First, if you stop watching an archived program before it’s over and choose the resume option later, it always goes back to the beginning and won’t let you fast forward. Either fix the resume option or enable fast forward option in all archived content.
Second, in those archived programs that let you fast forward if you try to go to where you left off you’ll often get up to 3 minutes of commercials even if it just played them a few minutes ago. They increase the amount of commercials the farther you get into the program. Just do 2 commercials every break and not one the first break building up to 5+ by the end of the program.
Third, almost every commercial is played a ridiculous amount of times during a program. I will not purchase anything from any advertisement that is forced upon me endlessly.
It could be a good app with even a modicum of investment.

Fed up

Update: 2+ months later I still do not have watch tv and still haven’t heard from a tech dept. I’m beginning to think it’s a mythological entity.

August 2018: This is a joke! I signed up before the unlimited plan went through. They tried to charge me. I went to chat to delete my acct. Fine. Weeks later the charge goes through! They tell me to start another acct. The new one also wants payment. Finally, someone says my acct isn’t showing that I have unlimited, even though 6 different people have verified I have unlimited. I spent about 6 hours on chat with 6 different people and still cannot watch Watch TV. I was told I’d have someone from the tech team contact me within 24 hours to fix this and a refund. 6 days later I had to contact them again! I finally got my refund. I won’t be surprised if I’m charged again next month. About two and a half months into this and no one has contacted me even to say “Hey, we’re sorry. We’re working on this!”

I am done. I’m shopping around for new phone service I’m so irritated even though I’ve been with AT&T since 2008. When I switched to unlimited I was told I could use it with the Roku....nope. 🤬🤬🤬🤬

I’d pay more not use this crap

First, when they say it’s included in your account, what they really mean is only one phone line. They don’t mean for the account. Only one person on our account can use it everyone else has to pay $15. What a rip and also not what the rep at the store said. This is typical as I’m used to being told one thing from one person at one store, change any variable and get a totally different story. Get your story straight. Train your people!!!

Second, I will sit down to watch something and if I’m lucky it will make it half way through before it crashes and then starts the whole thing over again. This wouldn’t be that big of deal but it won’t let me fast forward to where I was. Or it will lose connection and cut me off only to force me start where it’s at in live which is rarely where I was to begin with or make me start all over. I had surgery and haven’t been able to finish a single movie in a week. I’m over it. Seriously considering paying for any service that isn’t affiliated with AT&T rather than using the “free” not really free service...

Good but...

Face value it’s a good app. But the first episode of the first show I tried to watch had a very annoying technical issue. Basically, the episode played, went to the first commercial break. When it came back, it played normally for a few seconds, then the audio cut out and the audio from the beginning of the episode started playing over the video for the present part of the show.
I tried turning off ATTWatchTV then back on and it didn’t fix it. I tried fast forwarding and rewinding, but that just cause a blank screen and the audio worked but was still the wrong section of audio.
This makes the shows totally unwatchable. Please fix and the rating will be more then one star but I can’t rate higher due to this issue.

Update: ATTWatchTV is terrible. Between the annoyingly long load times and 5 million ads that play on the numerous ad breaks, they still have not fixed the audio issue. It seems to revolve around the ads. Almost every time an ad plays, the audio to the show you’re watching either goes out of sync, plays audio from a previous section of the show or the audio cuts out all together.
This seems to happen after ad breaks, but will also glitch out after receiving a text, phone call or any other notification on the phone. This is a seriously bad technical glitch that makes the show totally unwatchable when paired with 7-8 ad breaks and makes ATTWatchTV absolutely unusable.

As bad as AT&T customer service

When we signed up for the unlimited account they said we would have access to watch TV on their app. Initially their system could not find the account. Then it said our account was not unlimited. After talking to several customer service agents it was better to stop wasting time and ride it out to the end of the “no contract” and go with a different carrier. ATTWatchTV is........ actually can’t tell you because after several months of trying it has not worked. It says they are having problems, try later. Hm, well guess later could mean anything, so give AT&T that one. So clever (with large amounts of sarcasm). Anyway it’s “free” but when you add the amount of time wasted to try to get it to work then it turns out it’s quite costly. Don’t do it, don’t even download it, save yourself from the frustration that others have gone through for you and believe this and other reviews which tell you ATTWatchTV does not work as advertised.
