Weave: Storytelling Redefined Reviews

My son and I absolutely love the stories we create with this app. Takes a little getting used to and some more detailed play examples would be nice. There is a bug on the sci-fi play set. Boss and enemies do not have character sheets and players sheets don’t have the mechanics with talents, flaws, etc. please fix as we love the Sci-fi theme but not really playable.

this app is an incredibly revolutionary RPG system. Designed to get you playing quicker, it is light on rules but not light on depth. There are several well-designed stories that are fun to play, and function as frameworks for you to quickly and easily craft your own stories with.
You don’t need to spend a days before hand, setting something up as a game runner. Character creation is less than 10 minutes. And everything is viewable on devices.
Super slick and super accessible...this app is great!

The game has some very impressive potential. The ability to do storytelling with a real world element is fantastic. The art is also fantastic both in-game and on the physical cards. Unfortunately the user experience is atrocious. Trying to connect with friends, start a game, invite friends to the game and start playing is all unintuitive. Half of the time, the interface is buggy and won’t show you all available options. There also isn’t an intuitive way to start playing without having to watch videos that aren’t always that helpful. I really do hope that this game has an update soon, but till then the box is going to sit on my shelf collecting dust.

Developers didnt make it obvious when scanning a card. Just hold your phone over the card and it will scan. There is no camera opened during this process. It’s very misleading when you compare it to most camera scan apps.

But now I can’t paste a password (so a secure password and password manager is out), and it doesn’t really matter, because I can’t login anyway. I changed my password via the web site to something easy to type, and I can login with that new password through the web site but not Weave . Love the concept for the game, but they need better QC when updating Weave and should be more responsive to the people having problems with it.

Loved it so much I bought a copy there. I also know from the discord chat that the developers are constantly listening to complaints and suggestions in an effort to update and improve Weave .

I’ve had fun with Weave through a friends phone but can’t seem to get it to work on iPhone 6. Works fine until it needs to read a card and then just sits there. I’ve tried changing angle, proximity and ambient lighting but it won’t read the card. I know it has access to my camera so why isn’t it working?

this app allows for rapid creation of characters that my players feel attached to. It’s fun being able to see how backstories and flaws and talents interconnect. :)

Yesterday six of us installed the this app app and not one of us could get it to work. For me and at least one other, clicking the create account button did nothing—no progress and no error message.

Also Weave prevents pasting into the password field which makes it tough to use a password manager and a strong password.

Very fun and quick to set up. Great for a few friends on game night.

This most recent update to this app ruined the game. It was perfectly fine the way it was. Will not be playing anymore. We gave it a shot last night and it’s total garbage now. Should really contemplate setting it back to the way it was.

You cannot play this game without Weave . I paid $50 for the physical game because it sounded fun and we’ve been exploring indie rpgs. Unfortunately, it’s unplayable - buggy app, incomplete and unclear rules. We watched part of a play through with the game developer, but they were using an old and very different version of Weave , so it didn’t help us.
Bugs:
- descriptions that don’t fit in their box are cut off. We weren’t able to scroll/maximize/etc to view all the information for characters, talents, locations, bosses, etc on Android, iPhone, or iPad (bigger screen has no impact)
- as the storyteller, when you are selecting a boss or npc after scanning a card there’s a backstory description. Once you add it to the episode, the full backstory is no longer accessible - you can only see their character sheet
- very difficult to scan the cards on any device, and this is something the storyteller does frequently. You can’t see how the card is lining up with the camera, so we ended up randomly moving and tromboning the camera each time we had to scan a card
- incomplete rules, confusing and mention items likely from an older version of Weave

Either fix Weave , or design the game in a way that makes Weave optional. As of right now the game is unplayable. And incredibly overpriced.

Weave is currently not working. Has the company shut down? What is the status?
