Fantastic and desperately needed

So...I’m a whistleblower in corrupt South Texas. For the past five years, I have been the target of sustained, organized criminal hacking. I have a graveyard of computers in my attic. I have spent thousands of dollars on cyber security that always seemed to get breached by dedicated crackers. It’s been a nightmare. Apple has been slow to admit that criminal hackers have various ways to exploit vulnerabilities in Apple devices so when I read about this app, I decided I had nothing to lose. The device itself is very impressive and does exactly what it says it will do: it fights off attacks on and attempts to enter my network through the modem/router 24/7. And that’s no mean feat as crackers act like their freedom depends on them making sure they have control of my devices and communications (which, of course, it does). At any rate, organized attacks and exploits are occurring every 1-2 minutes and this app appears to catch them all. For the first time in a long time, I feel in control of my own network. Likewise, the customer support can’t be beat. Knowledgeable, polite, willing to do what it takes to get your network secured by this app. It’s very clear the techs understand the threats out there and are confident in this app’s ability to fight them. I couldn’t be happier with this app. Well done.

The best smart firewall for consumers in market

After three months using the this app firewall it have detected over 60 security threats and risks in the devices connected to my wireless network. I highly recommend this device to improve the security of your home network. I would like CUJO would block internet access to all new devices discovered by default. Hopefully the future update to include this new feature.

Ok device. Frustrating app experience

I generally don’t leave reviews. But I’m frustrated enough to write a review for CUJO. It has not been optimized for performance and has a great lag between page navigations. One needs to tap atleast 3 or 4 times before the page moves back and forth on most pages of CUJO! Help page in CUJO takes you through a continuous login loop. The this app app, it looks like, has been written by some one who has no experience in app development. CUJO design has no emphasis on quality or customer experience. Software quality control processes appear to be none or limited. There is no support for troubleshooting, viewing live traffic detail beyond a screenful of IP addresses, not suitable for any one who wants to be able to have some additional information on what is happening with their device. There are so many other things I can go on and on. Frustrated!

The only saving grace so far is the hardware device seems to be working ok with its default setting, if you can accommodate all CUJO issues.

Needs work

I have two main issues with this app, both of which I have raised directly with the company weeks and months ago. They seem like nice enough folks but haven't addressed either issue: 1) this app often needlessly alarms you with vague alert language, leaving it unclear whether your network has been breached or not. Most of these alerts are irrelevant, just bots scanning ports, but you would think you were under full scale attack according to this app. Multiple times a day. No way to tell what's important or unimportant. 2) this app continuously blocks legitimate Nest cam connections. Every time my Nest cam stops working, it is this app blocking it and requires intervention with the this app app to get it to work again. So a useful product but one with problems.

Current App Issue

First of all, this app works very well. However, the new app that came out just a few days ago, no longer gives any threat notifications. I’m hoping that this app is still active and it’s just an app issue. Everything on CUJO says life is fine, just no longer see any threat notifications anymore like I used to get daily. With it protecting 29 devices, there would always be something daily it would block. Maybe it still is, however don’t know anymore? Please fix CUJO !

Great app and support

Great all around. Works really well and protects my devices. I wish CUJO had more options and functionality, and that there was a web interface. Otherwise, it is near perfect.

Parental Controls are a joke

When purchased the box indicated time based parental controls along with website and app restrictions. Scheduled features like bed times, found in similar devices do not exist. App restrictions also do not exist. Probably should release these features before advertising them on the product in stores. Save your money and buy a Circle if you are looking for strong parental controls.

GREAT Product and Technical Support, BUT...

I think this app is finally helping to fill the very real need to secure home and small business networks. Most consumers don't understand how seriously they should take cyber security and may not fully appreciate the damage that can be done when their home WiFi networks are breached – something that's extremely easy to do even when you do "all the right things" (e.g., use WPA/WPA2 with a long, complex, meaningless password; "hide" your SSID; restrict access to known MAC addresses; use firewalls, and on and on).

this app was easy to setup, and started working pretty much right away. It caught and blocked a "potential" malicious adware program straight away. Something my antivirus software running in the background didn't catch. So, yeah, I'm happy with this app.

My one critique is their online help files/FAQ section. The answers are poorly written and geared towards a the very technically savvy. That's not at all in keeping with their minimalist and...ah...err...friendly hardware design (I find the "eyes" both odd and confusing). I also think the help video isn't very informative and borders on seductive. It's kind of funny. I don't mean any offense this app spokeswoman. It's probably just me.
Bottom line: I would recommend this app to family and friend.

Support

this app’s customer service is by far the very the best that I have interacted during my incredible hack in 2017. I chose this app for deterring continued and future wireless attacks. Their support staff has been fantastic during this catastrophic compromised systems. Sean, Grand Rapids MI.

Missing features

If you port forward your only option is to unblock the device or each individual port. Unrealistic for any server. Kinda sad as that’s where this would be most helpful.

Still Works...

Still Works and my mesh WiFi router detected no intrusions after I reinstalled this app last month.

So far so good

It took a bit to get everything set up and working right ( about two days) but as soon as the firmware update was pushed and quite a few restarts later... It finally has full control and is working great. The lack of notifications had me worried for a while but then it pops up with a blocked site and let's me know it's still there doing its thing. You gotta love this new technology! this app ON!

Works great w/ AT&T Fiber + Airport Extreme

I've been using this app now for awhile and it has performed great. We have a smart home and that means 30+ connected devices. So the extra security is really important. Recently we switched from a cable modem to AT&T Fiber. I had to change my this app setup to accomodate the new modem and my existing Airport Extreme and wasn't able to get it right. So I called this app tech support and they spent the time to walk me through it and explain what we were doing. I have contacted them a few times with questions and they're always there to answer and then follow up. I highly recommend you buy the device and use CUJO , especially if you have a smart home.

Getting More User Friendly

After 8 months of use, this app still hasn't quite emerged from what looks and feels like a beta state. I've been through three separate hardware configurations, and after buying different modem/router and wireless access hardware, this app finally seems to be working in bridge mode. this app's tech help is pretty good, but CUJO that controls this app is less than intuitive. There is no app for iPads, but I found it possible to download the iPhone app and import it onto my iPad via iTunes. Despite all kinds of assurances that this app is keeping me safe from bad guys, in a kind of simplistic "this app knows best" approach, I still would like to know exactly what this app really is doing. That's especially important as this app is a subscription service.

CUJO, AirPort Extreme, and PC Combo

Let me start by saying I was a Tier 3 Helpdesk Manager for 7 years. I had tried setting up a bridge installation, but the Airport was giving me trouble. I also have an Arris Surfboard modem. The bottom line is these guys don't play well together.

I called this app support with my tail between my legs and was really thinking I would get a voicemail, as it was 7:30 EST.

Instead I spoke to Victor (I think, if I got your name wrong I'm sorry!).

I couldn't download the PC emulator for the Airport and this app apps.

I set up a TeamViewer session and Victor installed the software while I was moving media cables around. He stayed with me until this app came up and pinged him.

I told him what a great job he did and said to keep up the good work. He even remembered a return that I sent to this app two months ago.

So, if you're thinking of purchasing this product I say DO IT!

Thanks,
Rick Bombardier
