Notebooks for iPhone Reviews

I've been using Notebooks for a couple of years now, and it's still the best note app by far. For me the biggest necessity in a note app is nested folders, because I like to organize my notes into categories and sub-categories. this app does all this incredibly well, and is very intuitive to use. The one thing I wish was changed: when navigating to a different folder, it lists all the folders and sub-folders on one big screen, which can be difficult to navigate if you are like me and have a bunch of sub-folders. It's easy enough to just back out of the folder I'm working in, back to the main home page, then find my way back down to the folder I want. But it would be nice if the "Go to folder..." function only showed the top layer of folders, so I wouldn't have to scroll past all my sub-folders to get there. But otherwise Notebooks is perfect!

I have used Notebooks for years and have written over 50,000 words on it and man I have never been this upset. I’ve recent gotten acquainted with the password feature, which is pretty useful honestly and no complaints here. I did come across a problem where my Face ID was inactive for a period of time and I had completely forgotten my password. Which is absolutely a me-problem but it was absolutely devastating when I was unable to access any of my works. So, naturally I checked the website and troubleshooting to see if there was any way to fix this. There was not. So, I tried to see if deleting Notebooks would give me an opportunity to reset the code(I update most of my works on other things just to be safe), it did, but at the loss of all of my works. Overall a great app, I am still a bit worked up though and would definitely appreciate it if there was any sort of recovery for the password, but that is just my two-cents.

Notebooks is wonderful!! It is easy to pick up and start writing with! I love the ability to make books and separate chapters from each other. The fact that you can organize chapters in a book in a different way then your writing library/other books is really handy and helps me keep track of things. Notebooks also has a great dark mode and plenty of fonts and customization to make it perfect for you. Being able to have an indent key and easy ways to bold and italicize is real handy. Every time I open Notebooks I find another great feature. My praise is endless. Keep up the great work! Notebooks is a keeper for sure.

I stumbled on Notebooks sometime ago and downloaded and installed it and I’m making quite a bit of use of it. I currently have 7 separate this app and 2 individual documents set up. Each notebook has a varying amount of documents in them.

I still have 2 other apps that I use as well but will be, when time permits (it’s getting late here and my bad shoulder is tiring), moving the notes I have in one to this app. I’m keeping the other app as it has some notes in it that I would rather have in a separate app due to their content.

I’m very happy with this app and will continue to use it for as long as it’s available!

I’m using this app to plan my projects since it supports indentation, strikethrough, and organization using folders. It’s been incredibly helpful.
It does have one minor, if annoying, bug where the document you’re editing locks of you switch to another app and then switch back. You can no longer edit the document without first closing it (viewing the parent folder) and then reopening the document. I’m hoping to see that fixed soon, though! 😁 🤞
Fixing that and adding functional checkboxes would upgrade this app from fantastic to phenomenal.

I've been using this app for 6+ years and have loved it since the first time I purchased and used it. It's exactly what I need. I love the way it doesn't try to do everything but do nothing well. It does very well what it does. And it does exactly what I need. It's a really great app. Very few bugs get in the way. The IU is sumple and intuitive. The developer has always been responsive to emails. I've emailed several times in 6 years and always gotten a response within a day or two. And no lame responses yet! I give it a solid A.

I’ve used and loved Notebooks for a couple of years now but all of a sudden it’s just stopped working. It either crashes immediately when I try to open it or it just sits on the initial logo screen that shows when you open Notebooks . Never had any issue with it before now. I tried restarting my phone and uninstalling and reinstalling Notebooks which caused me to lose a good majority of what I’d written in the last couple of days — because, obviously, I couldn’t back up my files since I couldn’t open Notebooks — and it still won’t work so I lost all that work for nothing. Absolutely heartbreaking. After that, I don’t think I could use Notebooks anymore even if I could figure out what was wrong and fix it. Extremely saddened by this. Think I’ll stick exclusively to google docs from now on.

This is a great app, no adds or any of that type. The system is very clear and well designed and has great organization for large projects or just some everyday notes. But a problem I’ve found is that a lot of times I accidentally delete whole pages of words after a few miss taps from fiddling around. Notebooks need some sort of back and forth button so you don’t accidentally erase days of work. This is really preventing me from creating larger document as the longer I write on something the more chances I have to delete it.

I DO review stuff all the time. Sorry, just sick of seeing the "𝙞 𝙙𝙤𝙣'𝙩 𝙪𝙨𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙚𝙬 𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙨, 𝙗𝙪𝙩..." line at the beginning of 90% of the reviews on app store.

This is the best free note app I have found, and there's a MAJOR over saturation of note apps. I'm assuming they are one of the easier things to program, so every dev thinks they should make one. But the devs here really did a good job. Flexible, fast and many customization options. Just good flow overall, and pretty UI. No ads. This is the one you want, you can finally stop the hunt.

The features of Notebooks initially put me off but I did continue to use it as a journal. The ability to set a custom font, color, and style allowed me to match another journaling app I was using and the full screen typing gave it a nice minimal interface when I wanted.
But now? Oh.. Notebooks has become my brain. Nested books let me dump research on the various projects I find myself in without worrying about how many nested levels I have left.
The fact that everything is store in plain type files gives me reassurance that if Notebooks was to ever go away, I wouldn’t lose my brain.

I’ll be buying the universal version here soon when the new iPads come out. Also desktop apps for Mac and WINDOWS.

Great design, simple, powerful, very customizable, good integrations, future proof. 10/10

Just a few months ago, I bought this app 8 including an in-app purchase for a total of $10 and now I have to pay again full price for the new version (version 10 which despite the number is the next iteration of version 8). Are you kidding me? Worse, now the new download of version 8 doesn’t even let me access the in-app purchase I paid for, as it lost its “buy more modules” section. So annoyed.

Well if you’re reading this while considering to buy version 10, I suggest you stay away. Maybe you’ll have to pay for everything again in full in a few months for a new iteration that will be inappropriately called version 12..

Now I have to look for an alternative as the owner does not even address your questions. Notebooks does not even open and now crashes all the time then exits out. I have accumulated so much recipes over the years and now they’re gone. Save your money and look elsewhere as it seems the owner of Notebooks could care less about upgrading and fixing the issues.

Hi, small start-up writer here. I was looking for an app that I could make documents on, one that could keep everything organized. Let me tell you, I tried so many apps, but this app definitely took the cake.

I haven’t tried any of their other features, other than the documents one, but it is AMAZING. 10/10 would recommend!

I use to carry a small 3x5 notebook with a pen attached to jot notes down constantly throughout the day, at work and at home, to help me remember and stay organized. Notebooks’s name is so apropos because it has totally replaced my paper notebook, with the ability to search and easily re-organize any of my notes!! Thank you Mr. Alfons!!

I have avidly used this app since it first came out. I purchased the upgrade as prompted by Notebooks in lieu of IOS 11 release. NONE of my many files came over with Notebooks upgrade and now I can’t get to them on the old version which does not work with IOS 11 - will not open at all.

Adding insult to injury I had to repurchase Notebooks for some reason as it did not show that I had purchased it in Notebooks Store. Additionally I have sent 2 emails via their contact sheet and no response. Hopefully this negative rating will get someone’s attention. Until then I give it a “1” since I can’t give it a “0”!!

I m blind! .... I’ve only been blind for less than a year. When I could see I made list and took notes for everything. I’m kinda OCD to say the least! I’ve been looking for app that works for me and I’ve downloaded a ton of note, memo, word and checklist apps but none have worked. Finally!! Notebooks is easy to use as well as exactly what I needed and wanted!!

I’ve had Notebooks for a while and it’s been absolutely great! However, I recently came across an issue. Whenever I’m trying to make a note, I get an error saying there is no more storage. Okay, no biggie. However, when I go to clear storage within Notebooks and delete other apps off my phone, it still says I have no space. I really enjoy Notebooks and don’t want to have to get another one to replace it. Is there anyway to fix this?

Still playing around with Notebooks to learn how it works, one of the best writing apps I’ve had , writing a book, saving research and notes photos for my book. Has so many features and has two locks ( fingerprint and passcode) can also create PDF, fonts etc.

This is a great app. It adds a word processing keyboard with strikethrough; tab key; convert to all caps, no caps, proper caps; insert; undo; simple macro; font style; etc. It's very functional. Much like you would find in a full keyboard.

The notepad has different formats for HTML, txt, add video and photo, copy from device pasteboard. It's very liberating if you care about precision writing on your iPhone or iPad.

I have this app for iPhone. I loaded the update that claims compatibility with iOS 11. However, iOS tells me it’s not compatible and has to be updated. It WILL NOT sync with Dropbox which I need desperately. Am I missing something? This ap has worked flawlessly for me up until now. I HATE these updates.
