Locking Issues

Okay I have a little mixed reviews. I enjoyed the bike ride, the bike was in great condition, tired were completely aired up. I did have a pretty big problem. I was on the phone with support for about 17 minutes trying to get the bike to lock. One bike locked easily (even though one step of locking the bike is missing on Zagster ) but the other would not budge. The guy on the phone was incredibly nice and tried so hard to be helpful. He understood our frustration and apologized even though it wasn't his fault. But we couldn't get the bike locked, the other options didn't work either, so now I'm hoping the bike doesn't get stolen before maintenance gets there so I don't end up getting charged for all of that.

UPDATE: many of the this app people reached out to me and were very helpful. I've never had a company reply so fast and offer so much help!

Horrible Customer Service

I had the most horrible customer service experience ever. I was charge a bogus $5 that didn’t applied to me was told that it’s a glitch in the system. That’s not my problem, those $5 I was counting on an emergency. It’s amazing that their system in place doesn’t allow them to return my money faster, but yet their system is quick to charge us. Now, I understand that sometimes these things take time, but I couldn’t believe that their own supervisor hanged up on me twice. Not even an apology, or even some credit for my horrible experience. I know that the credit wouldn’t change anything, but something to show that they are owning to their mistakes, and glitches that we will experience as customers. I can’t believe that I waisted $25 on their annual pass. Don’t get it, it’s a waist of time. Oh yeah, locking the bikes is tough as well.

Unreliable app

I was in Avon, CO and they had these bikes and I thought, such a cool idea! After using Zagster , Zagster doesn’t work right and I got charged so much money!! They have a “24 hour rental” option, which was what I chose because I was only in Avon for a short period of time. This option was $2. When returning the bike, you have to stick the lock portion into your bike and press lock on your app, which I did.. tried pulling the lock back out and everything just to check. I then checked my bank card and saw I was charged $2 twice for the two SHORT under 1 hour rides that I took, and one $100 charge. When I contacted them, they said they have a “one time forgiveness fee” and would remove the charge. The next day I look, they charged another $100 and credited that $100. I would never recommend this service to anyone, no matter how fun it seems.

App is broken, can’t even sign in

I’ve tried to use Zagster twice now, and gotten the same result both times. When trying to create an account, it told me I already had an account under both my phone number and my email. Figuring I had somehow made an account for a service I had never used before, I tried signing in to my apparently existing account by resetting my password. However, once I put in the new password, it told me I needed to select a new membership plan, but did not bring me to a menu to do so. Instead, Zagster crashed and continued to crash upon closing and reopening it until I redownloaded Zagster . This process duplicated once I redownloded it. Would heavily not recommend, as I’ve used other bike sharing services that had functional apps and were better prices.

Messed with our phones

Me and my boyfriend rented the bikes for an hours and a half with fully charged phones, soon we saw our batteries drop and were concerned we would be unable to unlock our bikes to get back. Thankfully they didn’t and we made it back in time right before our phones died. We also experienced our phones randomly restarting and now are unable to make regular phone calls, FaceTime or even Snapchat call. We have not been able to fix this still even after restarting the phone and deleting Zagster
But despite Zagster messing with out phones the bikes were in decent shape. But at night the headlight faced up into the basket and were basically useless and we couldn’t see the sidewalk at night

Seriously legit.

I love this app! I have been using it for 3 weeks now during lunch. The office complex I work in must have a partnership with them and they are free to use as long as you lock them back within 20 hours. After that it’s $1 per hour which I never get to because I only use it for lunch. However don’t forget to end your ride because i forgot one day and it charged my bank account $16 but I called them and the have a one time forgetful forgiveness policy. So they sent the money back and won my loyalty. I tend to keep using thanks!

Good concept

The creators of Zagster have the money and resources to make these bike available virtually everywhere, but don’t have the resources to have ample technical support and bug fixes. My biggest complaint is that Zagster won’t let you be a part of 2 bike share locations/cities at the same time. You have to call and wait 2 days for your entire account to be cancelled and then create a new one. This is a hassle when traveling because you have to cancel your account any time you want to use this app outside if your own city, then cancel it again when you come home. I wouldn’t recommend Zagster unless you solely want to use it in one small area.

Love it!

I tested this app for the first time today at a greenway near my home. Zagster was super easy to use and explained everything well.
Unlocking the bike was no problem and I took off. Return the bike was also just as easy, just make sure you hold the orange lock button all the way down until you hear it click, then lock the bike cable.
I highly recommend and will definitely use them again! Thanks for offering this for folks without bicycles of their own.

Frustrating

When I used the first time it would not acknowledge it locked the bike. I called customer support who were great and credited my 45 minute ride.
3 weeks later I unlocked another bike and wanted to go on a ride with my husband. Oops! You can only unlock one bike at a time. Is not listed on the instructions either.
So. He downloads Zagster , and registers; meanwhile I am paying for time on my bike. Guess what...his bike says it’s unlocked on Zagster but in real world it is not. Then it would not lock his bike. So we called support and it took 45 minutes for them to answer but they did credit him. Not a good system. HOPR is much more user friendly.

Bluetooth, Locking, & Bike Issues

I attempted to book a bike from Cumberland, ga area and there were 2 bikes in front of me ready to go but did not show up on Zagster . Tried from my friends phone, same issue. (I’m an Apple master, I troubleshot the issue) called the support number and she just didn’t get it, she was of no assistance whatsoever. I ended up just clicking a random bike that popped up in Zagster as available (not matching either of the bikes in front me) I just pressed the unlock and waited to see if either bike responded and one did! However it was a bit banged up.. ride was rough.. this is a great idea (like the other biking apps) but Zagster, customer service and Bluetooth all need updates and improvements.

Garbage app

Awful experience. There were 10 bikes at my girlfriend's apartment at noon on a Sunday. None were available. So we went over to my apartment, which had 5 bikes available. I rented one. My girlfriend opened Zagster to rent one. All the same bike numbers were listed, but none were available. We had the latest version of Zagster . Also, even if you have Zagster , you have to go to the website to create an account. You can modify your profile through Zagster , though. Makes no sense. Perhaps they went live too soon with Zagster . We are both disappointed and will not try it again.

Locking issue

The bike was great! Rental through Zagster was easy. Enjoyed a nice day riding around downtown.

However, when it came time to return the bike I followed Zagster instructions. In short the pin for the lock was able to be pulled out after locking the bike. After calling support to notify of the problem, they told me that because the bike was not securely locked that I was responsible for the bike. That’s right! Their locking system fails and you are responsible! They told me I had two options. 1. leave the bike and hope for the best that know one steals it. 2. Bring it back to my hotel across town for them to pick up.

After calling back I decided to take the bike back to the hotel. Unfortunately, at this point they put the bike in maintenance mode making the rear wheel unusable. Impossible for me to ride to my hotel to hold it for them to pick it up.

Finally, they gave me the ok to leave the bike releasing me from responsibility.

What an ordeal!

??One @ a Time??

We wanted to go on a nice family ride, we were vacationing. The bikes looked in good shape and inviting. SO, my husband, myself and my 19y/o walked down to the bike stand. I rented first, figured it out pretty easily, unlocked etc. Than, ready to rent for hubby and son. There in, the problem was found. You can only rent one bike @ a time w/ one credit card. My husband did not have his, (plus, he only has a flip phone so, no app!) and my son doesn’t have one yet!! So, I returned the bike I rented for 9 mins., and than walked home!! Not a good policy! Not a good way of marketing!!
After submitting this review I will delete Zagster. Sorry this app!! :(

Convenient service

I’ve really enjoyed using this bike service - the pick up and drop off locations are very convenient for my commute and the price is excellent. I’ve had several issues locking and unlocking the bikes though, and for that, they lose a star. I will say that the customer service fixes it every time though, and within a less than 5 minute phone call.

zagster is deeply broken

Their system is broken. i've taken about 6 or 7 rides now and *every single time* there was something wrong. either Zagster didn't work, or the docks were messed up, or the bikes were broken. in one instance the crank fell off while i was riding. in another instance a dock had the wrong GPS coordinates, and Zagster charged me a penalty. if Zagster says 4 bikes available there will probably be 1 or 2, or often zero. etc etc. bike sharing is a great idea but it won't work unless they're willing to fix all their tech problems and commit to maintaining the bikes.
