Simple & comfortable, useful rich data, reliable.

I have been using the this app for many months now & am very pleased with it. I love that I do not have to wear anything on my wrist. The strip sensor is sensitive, reliable, and stays in place very well. I don’t notice it at all. Beddit doesn’t drain my phone overnight, though I am often charging it while it works. Beddit is super easy to use & makes it easy to review both the details of each night, and my history and trends. The notes & hashtag features mean I can track & look for factors that may impact my sleep quantity and quality immediately and over time. It lets me tweak things to improve my sleep hygiene and habits. I would love to see integration of main data with Apple Health now that Apple owns it. Occasionally the phone app and sensor fail to connect, but I now make it a habit to verify that by using the manual mode instead of the automatic mode, and lightly touching the sensor to make sure it is linked and properly positioned each night. The this app has made a huge improvement in my sleep after years of struggling with insomnia and wondering why I was tired all the time. Please continue support, and please develop integration with the central Heath tracker. Good sleep is the foundation for EVERYTHING supporting good health. Without regular, adequate quality sleep nothing else can be improved.

Good but can’t get notifications during use

this app is the required companion app for the this app sleep monitor. The sleep monitor itself is basically an electronic and plastic strip put underneath you in the bed that transmits to Beddit . Beddit is used to set the device up (very easy set up) and to monitor sleep each night.

After hearing negative reviews about auto detecting sleep, I have gotten in to the habit of just activating this app before I go to sleep. This isn’t hard for me since I usually set an alarm on my phone before sleeping anyway.

this app monitors sleep quality and length and heart rate and respirations. The information is usually accurate but not always. The information is presented simply for the lay person, but as a nurse I would like more information on the data it collects and presence of sleep apnea; The monitor certainly gathers that data but Beddit doesn’t present it.

A major issue is the fact that since this app monitors snoring, it requires continuous use of the microphone. This requires that the phone be plugged in all night (which is fine for me because that’s when it recharges) BUT IT MUTES ALL TEXT NOTIFICATIONS basically making the phone useless for receiving messages at night, which is a problem since I want to be abled to be alerted if somebody texts me. There is no option to turn off the microphone - Beddit won’t work without it. The only workaround is for me to wear my AppleWatch while sleeping so that it notifies me of a text.

Best sleep tracker we have used

My wife and I have tried numerous sleep trackers (Zeo, Jawbone, fitbit, Apple Phone & Watch, etc). We like this the best of all. You do not wear anything for tracking - just get in bed. You can manually start/stop it, or use automatic mode. I got a this app first and liked it. After a week my wife tried mine and was pleased as well so we ordered her one. The only negative I have found is I do not see a way to delete her sleep trials off my phone (I just ignore those days). When hers arrived we found It works fine with each of us having the sensor pads on our side of the bed.

It provides good light/deep sleep and heart rate charts along with trend charts. It captures and shows when you snore (if any) and how much. It provides many stat numbers - read the info to learn what they represent. You can rate how you feel each morning and write notes.

After three weeks of use we are very pleased!

Used to be a great App/Product

I’m short: I used to love Beddit/product and recommend it to everyone; I no longer do.

I’ve used this app for a while and have found it to be crazy buggy. Despite having tons of bugs and being owned by Apple there are rarely updates to fix any of these issues.

Bug 1: App detects I’m sleeping when I’m not (which triggers bug 2, 3, and 4). When I’m in Auto Detect Sleep mode Beddit always thinks I’m sleeping. Months ago I contacted this app support and they told me to “kill” Beddit when this happens. This no longer works.

Bug 1: Airpods get disconnected when Beddit detects I’m sleeping.

Bug 2. Since upgrading to iOS 11 my volume levels (in all apps, including my phone and non-this app alarms!) are reduced by about 40% if Beddit is running. If you’re in auto detect sleep mode, this is always. At this point, Beddit and product are essentially useless.

Bug 3: Anytime it thinks you’re sleeping it’s banner is up which blocks access to other apps. This isn’t a problem if you’re asleep, but when awake it’s crazy annoying

I can work around the bugs in manual mode, but now I forget to enable it most nights, which means I’m no longer using the product. Used to be a cool gadget/app.

To be candid, if Beddit wasn’t made by a company owned by Apple it would have been removed from Beddit Store. I keep hoping they’ll fix things but after waiting months now I have given up and written this review.

2 stars because it’s usable in manual mode

More aware

I’ve been using this app for a little over a week. It has helped me become mire aware of my sleep habits. I have increased my time sleeping by 2 hours a night over the week which is good as I was very sleep deprived. I just wish there were a way to also collect info on my oxygen saturation levels which have been a concern for me in the past.

I do sleep directly on top of the monitoring strip as I sleep in a wedge pillow which goes under my back and would prevent contact if placed under the sheet. I put the strip on top of my wedge pillow.

I have not had any of the issues mentioned by others. I have another app Headspace installed on my phone. People say you can’t use other apps at the same time as this app. I use headspace every night to help me fall asleep. It is a meditation app but also offers assistance for falling asleep with audio soothing sounds and voice offering systematic relaxation.

App constantly crashing after iOS 11.1 update

I’ve been using Beddit for a while and overall think it is pretty good (although there is definitely room for improvement in some areas). Previously, I would have given this a 4 star rating, but since updating to iOS 11.1, it is now effectively useless since it crashes almost immediately when I select “sleep”. Have tried uninstalling/reinstalling app and rebooting phone, but no luck. You would think that since Apple now owns this app, this really shouldn’t happen. Hope they get it fixed soon. I’ll revise my review and rating when they do!

UPDATE: was finally able to get Beddit to stop crashing by unplugging my this app sensor for a few minutes and plugging it back in. This was after re-installing app and rebooting phone. Seems to be OK now, so changed my review to 4 stars.

Okay- Could be improved

I purchased this because I like the heart-rate feature that apps using microphone don't have. I have been trying to understand my lack of restful sleep for 7 years; still searching.

Pros:
- the band measures heart rate and compares other nights heart rate
- tracks how long it took me to fall asleep (this way I know what pre-sleep methods are working)
- measures room temperature; what temp works best for me.

Cons:
- no memory of notes; if i write "soaked feet 30 min before" i have to remember it exactly the next time (no drop down of previously written sleep notes)
- the notes are confusing. Write how you felt when you woke up and then notes from the day before activity? Shouldn't I be writing throughout the day so I don't forget... or right before I tap "sleep"
- restlessness is not sensitive enough. I clearly remember tossing And turning, counting and breathing exercises, the restlessness and awake is always 0. I try to stay still when I wake throughout the night... the band just doesn't catch it.

Overall- this band and app are okay. It could be really awesome with just a few minor improvements. I will keep it and hope Beddit updates soon!
(I do realize each person is different and I don't expect to find one that is perfect unless it was created for me and my needs.)

Happy with Beddit —beats any Watch App capability

This is the best device currently that works with your iPhone. Apple purchased this app a couple of years ago if you weren’t aware of it.

The only better alternative is a collection of medical devices which usually only come with a sleep study. The problem with a sleep study is likely impairment of sleep with all the wires attached to measure brain waves, breathing and heart rate, blood oxygen sensor and sensor on face for apnea sensing.

The this app strap under you is much better than existing Apple Watch Apps, which can be somewhat misleading. I know this as I have been using one of the best Apple Watch Apps simultaneously with this app and also keep a paper log of wakings and back to sleep times.

I’m very happy with the this app monitor to rate it 5 stars. I look forward to Apple improving the this app system none-the-Less.

I hope Apple doesn’t just try to put it all into a Watch-only app. I don’t see how respiration could be accurate with only the Watch. And I doubt the Watch could differentiate moving your hand position versus trunk movement or leg movement. ( note: this app can’t differentiate leg movement and does not currently differentiate arm movement if you are wearing the Watch).

Is fine but maybe not as competitive in value for money vs. the market

Not bad. I purchased it because I thought the band would be more accurate than other apps in the market that register only through the microphone. However, I noticed the band could be inaccurate as well. e.g. If you place the pillow in between during your sleep, you loose record and cannot edit the register later.
Other market apps offer more features like recording snoring, comparative data vs. averages worldwide, etc. and are for free. So I am still wondering if for 160$ I am really getting a super additional value? Not sure. But again, is not a bad one.

Great product with 1 major flaw

I really like this product combo (app and sensor). It seems quite accurate without needing a wearable. Beddit though has one major flaw that might make it unusable for me - it blocks ALL notifications from your phone while recording your sleep, including the favorites you have configured to come through during Do Not Disturb time. While it would be nice to have uninterrupted sleep, I often work “on call” and need to get notifications at night from a select few contacts. Beddit should still give you an option to allow these, I find it annoying that this app assumes I shouldn’t get them. If they can get this changed then I will be a happy 5 star customer! As it stands now I’ll probably return the sensor since I can’t use it for about a third of the week.

Erratic sensor. App development weak

I used the this app 3 for over 1 year. I have finally given up and am no longer using it. Other than bug fixes and terms and conditions changes, there has been no development of Beddit since Apple purchased the product. Beddit has no way to export data. The line trend chart is for the last 7 days, 30 days, and 90 days. Beddit does not allow you to look at the line trend for the previous 7, 30, or 90 days or any other trends, other than the last set. When working, I was really happy with the presentation of the detailed data, but over the past few months, the data has become more and more erratic. Most nights show only a small percentage of my sleep data. I’ve switched to a product that I wear to sleep and removed the this app 3 from my bed.

Not working after update

Update - September 5, 2017

My tracker stopped working completely. I get a 0 score every night. I tried to adjust the sensor on the bed and it picks up some of the activity but I still get a 0 at the end of the night. I tried contacting technical support but they referred me to Apple since they sold out their company. I cannot get any answers from Apple. I'm going to have to ditch this app after using it for over 3 years. Very disappointed. Hopefully, someone from Apple will see this review and contact me.

--------------------

Since the last update the application is not keeping track of my sleep properly at all. My sleep scores often show very low numbers and I usually sleep very soundly. When it does read something it has huge gaps during the night. I thought it was an issue with the strip under the sheets and I have adjusted it in different positions with the same result. I have sent feedback to this app several times but have not received any response. I'm at the point where this application is becoming totally useless to me. I would appreciate if tech support would contact me to see if there is something that can help fix the problem.

Stole my money

I had this device and app for years and I pod a lot of money for it. It worked great. 5 stars. Then they came out with a newer version and the unit I owned became bricked and useless!!!! Beware when the developers get greedy they just disable what you Bought and try to force you to buy a newer version. It was too expensive. This should be illegal and shame on Apple for allowing this type of thing to happen. Again buyer beware the device worked until the developers decided that they wanted more money. My perfectly great devices stopped working Well the device worked fine I’m sure. It just would t work with the required App. So shame on them I will never recommend this company to anyone ever again!!!!!!!!
Buyer beware

Live Beddit

I have had Sleep Apnea for a number of years, plus AFIB. Sleep Apnea is a major contributor to various medical ills including AFIB. By monitoring the data that this app provides daily, I can determine a problem area and address it. My sleep has improved, I rarely have an AFIB episode, I'm energized & feel more optimistic. A recent Blood panel came back perfect for the first time in a couple years. this app also provides on going information & advice. I strongly recommend this for anybody with AFIB or Sleep Apnea. It won't cure it, but it will certainly help you in many ways.

Nice concept, still need to work the kinks out

I bought the this app because I absolutely cannot wear a fitbit or Apple watch while i'm sleeping. The product does an OK job of monitoring my sleep, but it'd be better if it could understand the concept of naps a bit better (or even polyphasic sleep).

Biggest shortcoming is that the this app app sends incomplete data to the Apple Health app. When I try to open a support ticket w/ this app, I'm directed to Apple Support (Apple now owns them). Unfortunately the Apple Support app has no option to select this app as a product, so I can't report my issues.

App Crashes/Doesn’t Sync with Health

The this app app crashes upon startup and after tapping ‘I’m up” when—and only when—I have syncing with Health turned on. Presumedly it crashes when it attempts to sync using the HealthKit API, and only when it is writing data to Health/HealthKit (reading data from Health/HealthKit seems unaffected). Some time after November my sleep results do not show up in the Health app; however they do appear in the this app app itself. Also, I’m not sure if it is the sensor or Beddit , but my heart rate is no longer is tracked. I tried reaching out to Apple Support, as indicated on this app’s support page but few people at Apple Support have heard of this app.

Warning: You cannot use Beddit and Bluetooth audio devices at the same time..

Very interesting, useful app/device with regard to monitoring and encouraging sleep.

That being said, when you’re in bed and this app is running, you will not be able to use other Bluetooth devices, like your AirPods and HomePod. Which of course is very frustrating if you like to listen to or watch something to relax before bedtime. Including that little detail in the product description would have been greatly appreciated.

And if you think using your iPhone/iPad’s built-in speaker is an acceptable workaround, plan on the volume always being reduced by 50% while this app is on.. Equal parts annoying and weird :/

To add further insult to injury, there’s a giant red bar at the top of the screen at all times that this app is being used, like how the green bar appears at the top of the screen when you’re on a phone call. Thanks Sherlock, I really need to have that constant reminder, as though I didn’t install and choose to use this thing in the first place.

Beddit not contributing to Apple Health Data

Love the this app app. Gives me good insight into how well I’m sleeping and has been helping me improve my sleep.

One of my complaints, however, is that the this app app is not contributing to Apple Health Data even though I have selected that option. Otherwise I would give 4 - 5 stars.

Other thing that is a tad annoying is if you use automatic measurement to tell if you are sleeping, “Hey Siri” doesn’t work well and any sound output is extremely quite. So if watching a movie in bed, you have to turn the volume way up.

By

Best sleep tracking app.

I have been using this app for over a year and really like it. It almost always accurately tracks my sleep, once in a blue its way off but that really is rare, and I love that it monitors my heart rate, snoring, etc. My only complaint is when in the “automatic measurement” mode, it stays on after I’m out of bed. I just read a review in Apple Insider that suggests not using the auto mode for the same reason. If that could be fixed this would be a 5 star app/product.

Beddit App Issues

I have always liked my this app system. But when Apple bought this app, they made no real updates to Beddit and then changed the system, pretty much crippling the system for those of us who supported this app from the start. Beddit quits almost every other night! As far as I can tell, Apple never made an upgrade available to us as early adopters at a discounted rate to try to keep us. Very disappointed!
