Digital Photographer Monthly Reviews

I have been reading Digital Photographer for several years. It is focused on technique and ideas, and much less on gear, which I prefer. I always fine something of interest in each issue. Some mags have switched to a special digital version, such as Practical Photography, but I prefer the facsimile of the whole magazine like this one. I also get it a month sooner than I would in USA at a news stand. My favorite photo mag.

The people below, and probably more above, this don't read or have common sense.

This is an actual magazine in digital form. Therefore, you WILL have to pay for a subscription, with several listed in the "Top In-App Purchases". The people leaving bad reviews are the people who don't read these things.

The reason the reader is free is to allow you to still have it and pick and choose which magazines you want, should you choose to buy them individually. So yes, you do need to pay some money for subscriptions or individual magazines, just like in real life.

Aside from that, this magazine is fantastic and teaches you so much about photography, it's techniques and new technology and how to use it. Now excuse me while I go get a subscription. :)

Great content. Got one of the special editions. Format is great as is the content. Great for learning. As far as the negative reviews, they are interactive replicas that you can preview before purchasing. $5 for a regular issue of this mag is a great price. At the newsstand is much higher as it is a British import.

This is a great magazine, but the bugs overshadow it's great content. For example, when I hit the "purchased" button and open an issue I've bought, app crashes. Or the new thing now, once you finally get into an issue, every other page is missing. This should be a 5 star app, but the issues are hindering it's performance. I only gave it a 3 because the content is extremely useful, just need the bugs fixed.

I got half-way through the first issue I dled and then DigitalPhotographerMonthly crashed. Any time I try to open it, it crashes. Glad I hadn't bought a subscription yet.

If DigitalPhotographerMonthly worked I'd still only give it ⭐⭐⭐ because its only an over-glorified PDF of the print version. The content is fantastic but needs to be better translated into electronic format. In this digital age of technological marvels I expect more than just a picture of the pages I have to zoom in on. Check out The British Journal of Photography's app; there's so much more to e-zines than scanned pages.

I downloaded DigitalPhotographerMonthly and then realized that I needed to pay money....which is fine and I was willing to do this. So.....I purchased a 6 month subscription. But nothing comes up. The only items in the library are issues that have price tags next to them......and I'm thinking well I just purchased a 6 month subscription for these issues....so why the hell are you only giving me the option to buy them?!?! I've tried getting help online...but I can't even login...b/c it won't recognize my email address.

When DigitalPhotographerMonthly went into the Newsstand App in iOS4, DigitalPhotographerMonthly went from good to bad. DigitalPhotographerMonthly crashes frequently, or simply freezes, and user friendliness went way down with being tied to the stupid newsstand. I have several other stand alone photo magazine apps all nicely grouped together on my iPad, but not this one. I have to lunch the newsstand app, then the Pixel Mags app just to see my issues.

When I first started using DigitalPhotographerMonthly it would lock up Since then, they have come out with an update. I have had much better results since the update. Any support emails I have sent in have been replied back to. They seem to want to improve their product. I am unceasing the star rating for DigitalPhotographerMonthly.

You can certainly tell who wants handouts and freebies by the rage reviews. DigitalPhotographerMonthly functions just like all the other periodical subscription-based apps. Pay no heed to the welfare folks.

What a shame to have one of the best photography magazines neither in HD or interactive at least to jump to pages it feels like a PDF file without the ability to search , take some lesson from photography week magazine. Please fix this and take your right place in digital magazines world.

My first rating of an an app and it's just to say that everyone is correct. I paid $12 for a special addition and I can't view it! I've gone through all there little suggested fixes, but they don't work.

You got me, but only once. Plenty of other publications. Time to try another that values customer service.

App has great potential but is really only. Digitized version of magazine. Text is too small because it try's to display entire view of page, so when you tap to zoom in a bit text appears somewhat blurry. App is not interactive like some others.

I love my free app as described. Now I gladly pay for each issue.

Been buying these Britisher based apps since they started. They still have the worse system of any magazine app I use. Think it's time to move on - you get tired of the mess ups and constantly
Having to rebuild your data again and again. Decent basic content. Lousy programmer!

Magazines are very good but it is agonizing to access them thru DigitalPhotographerMonthly interface. I have had to re download mine every time I am trying to read them. Also, you cannot print any page of the magazines you paid for. Very unfriendly. Stay clear.

Very nice imagery and ideas but slim technical investigation. Wish the articles dug deeper into technical background of "how to"
Feels like a basic picture magazine.

After downloading the newest rev, I now must reload all issues from my years' subscriptions, and cannot load any of the numerous special issues I've purchased. Seems this should have been caught prior to release of this revision.

The magazine is great. I even bought a subscription but it did not seem to take. So even though it was great I did get what I paid for. Maybe I did not pay in the right currency but I expected Apple would have worked that out.

Great magazine lost of interesting and easy to learn from great job
