♦️one star for useless whistle phone πŸ‘ŽπŸ»

Google Voice will NOT re-verify my WHISTLE phone, making it unusable on my iPad Air. It was okay on iPad in 2013. Not now. Whenever I try to verify with Google voice, my whistle phone will not ring. If I dial my whistle number from my local landline phone, it rings OK on my iPad. I've tried 10 times in the past year to verify my Whistle number with my Google Voice. No joy. WhistlePhone is now useless to me. The only reason I had ever used Whistle is to provide inexpensive VOIP for my iPad with Google Voice. $1 per year would be ok. $10 per month is ridiculous! I am deleting WhistlePhone. Vail fail! πŸ‘ŽπŸ»πŸ‘ŽπŸ»πŸ‘ŽπŸ»πŸ‘ŽπŸ»πŸ‘ŽπŸ»

β˜…βœ°βœ°βœ°βœ° One star. Deleted. Why?

It seems that Vail Systems has gotten too greedy and careless. WhistlePhone wants me to pay $10 per month, and it doesn't even work.

Deleted, after a few days, and many tries, could not send a single text message. Also, it will not verify as one of my Google voice phone numbers.

The best VoIP app ever!

Review #2
Just installed the latest update yesterday, tested it several times. Works like a charm. This company (with the right marketing & advertising) have the potential to grow to the status of Facebook or Skype in 2 to 3 years. Can't believe those people who rate it less than 4 or 5 stars. Those who don't know how to flip on a light switch, do not judge it unless you thoroughly understand how this technology works.

This is a true Internet telephony app (aka voice-over-IP) that turns your iPad or iPod touch to a real phone that can send and receive calls. So you can say that your iPod Touch or iPad is the iPhone but without a contract. Only thing you need to be aware of is that you need to listen to a 20 second advertisement before you place the call. The phone number assigned to you is free, and you get free ad-supported calls. You may deposit a small amount of $1.99 and eliminate the ads. You also need to know that some government agencies cannot receive calls via Internet, so WhistlePhone will not work in this case. Also you cannot place emergency 911 calls thru any VoIP app. Other than that WhistlePhone makes your iPad and iPod touch a 98% true phone. Did I mention the call quality is close to being perfect?

Very good and free; needs SMS

Very good app and free except for extra push notifications. Don't like that I have to see ads and pay extra push notifications as well. Should be either/or. Also would love to have SMS texting available in WhistlePhone. I found one other ipad app that does both calling and texting and you can select your own number or transfer a number but it's $9.99 per month.

If whistle would offer texting and calling for $5.99 with limited ads, that would be a huge winner. TextPlus4 has free texting but no calling. Whistle has no texting but has calling. And there is one other app that I found that does both but it's $9.99. Right now I use textplus and whistle buts it's a real hassle too have them separate and confusing to friends who i have to give 3 numbers: my regular droid cell phone, my ipad textplus number, and my iPad whistle number.

Whistle, please add texting and do it for under $6 and you will dominate this market. Also improve the look of the user interface and graphics. For an iPad it's pretty drab and pixelated. Sharpen it up and make it look for appealing if you can.

The concept is good

I write very few reviews but here is my personal take on WhistlePhone. I love the concept of having a second number and additional option of calling if the only signal I have is wi-fi, however, beyond that it needs some improvement. It should include free txt messaging for those people you don't want to have your true number but that you want to text. I have that on another app so I'm using one app for txting and one for calling. It would be nice to have that combined into one. Also, when using in 3G there's a significant voice delay. Thats probably not fixable so I'm not complaining about that. Lastly I have yet had someone be able to call me. It just plays ads and music in their ear and I never get the push notification that I'm getting a call. Fix that and I'll up the rating. :)

Best VOIP for iPhone!

I've used all the VOIP apps for the iPhone, I've search for a long time and Whistle has been the best. I liked Line2 but to pay $15-20 a month is insane, totally ridiculous! If I'm standing still with solid 3G connection I get clear calls but if I'm walking somewhere, on a moving bus, train, car I get very poor quality and it drops the call. I agree the with previous reviewer that it would be great to load the calls quicker and I even get series of very poor service at my home where I have very good connection but all in all I've been able to talk for hours and hours using Whistle and not going over my very poor low voice plan with ATT. I'm sure Whistle will continue to make improvements and I really hope it stays free, to the Whistle team, thank you for such a great app!

A must-have for iPad 3G owners!

This VoIP app is fantastic. While the UI's appearance can afford a little more finesse, the application is fully functional for what it's advertised to do - send and receive voice calls over data (take that, AT&T!). They issue you a number that does not appear to be changeable (would have been nice to see if they had other area codes), and the call quality is acceptable. My only gripe is that the program does not have Push Notification service to allow an incoming call while the application is not currently open - the caller simply gets an ominous message, "I'm sorry, but I cannot complete your call." If Push gets enabled (or if it fully supports the impending multitasking feature in iPhone OS 4), WhistlePhone can suffice as a full replacement for a phone on the iPad! Lastly, it would be nice if launching "tel:" URLs can hook into WhistlePhone.

Near perfect...but fell back...

This was my PRIMARY app for calls even with the sound breaking up terribly even when the wifi signal is right beside me...And that would have gotten it 4 stars...BUT WHYYYY the 20 min limit?? Now I have to call back my caller every 20 and it is dreadfully annoying...sadly...I am currently looking for a replacement app because I cant make important phone calls at risk of being disconnected :( Fix that 20 min limit and KEEP IT FREE...and you will win another customer back....Oh and a aesthetic update and voicemail wouldn't hurt either...or even a missed call list...

Good and ok....

Great product. I was looking for somehthing like this and it works great. I would have given this 4 stars except, I live in Hawaii and any calls I make are considered international calls; therefore it is not free for all of the US. However; luckily the rate per minute is .021 and you get alot of minutes, but the only way to find this out was to sign up; due to the fact that there was no literature on this issue. Five stars are highly achievable but WhistlePhone will have to be able to notify user that there are incoming calls. I have a suggestion, give user an option to leave app running in the background, so that WhistlePhone can notify the user. This is not a bad review just a heads up to the Hawaii people and a friendly suggestion to the developer. Thank you.
