Advanced Dictionary&Thesaurus Reviews

I accidentally made a severe critical review of this developer. Another developer, NOT MobiSystems, Inc., had left users high and dry by not updating an expensive dictionary app to be compatible with iOS 11. I could not write a critical review because their app had been removed from AdvancedDictionaryThesaurus store. I downloaded AdvancedDictionaryThesaurus (incorrectly thinking it was by the same developer) to have a platform to complain about the developer. I now realize MobiSystems, Inc., is not the developer of AdvancedDictionaryThesaurus I was aggravated about. I am very sorry for my mistake.

I have greatly enjoyed using AdvancedDictionaryThesaurus for over 8 years, being able to access it from anywhere at any time without having to depend on the Internet or wi-fi. The word games provide an excellent means of learning new words and keeping current with changes to familiar words. Being able to check spelling and definitions of words during a game has been helpful. The pronunciation feature is a plus, enabling me to check a pronunciation "on the fly." However, with the recent update, I can no longer access the dictionary or any of its wonderful components without access to the Internet, which is disappointing, as sometimes the Internet is blocked at some locations or is simply not available. I am disappointed that you have chosen to change your app so that it, in essence, denies access to users who may not have or cannot access the Internet. I am sure I am not the only person who would appreciate it if you would eliminate that restriction. - The Thinker

AdvancedDictionaryThesaurus isn’t great. Its ads impede most of AdvancedDictionaryThesaurus ’s functions, I think, and of course users can opt to purchase the full version to remove those pesky ads. However before I buy an app, I’d like to at least see how well it works, or in this case, how well it may serve my needs. And this just doesn’t measure up.

I’ve tried using this on multiple occasions but each time I search for a word’s definition or synonym, AdvancedDictionaryThesaurus lags as both it & I wait for an annoying ad to load. Several times AdvancedDictionaryThesaurus has kicked me out completely or frozen, which definitely defeats AdvancedDictionaryThesaurus ’s purpose. I’m not looking for an app that takes more time to search for a word/offer synonyms than it takes for me to do the legwork on my own. At this point, I’d rather search for the word myself and figure out the synonyms on my own, or by using another app. It’s far too frustrating and not at all worthwhile.

It’s a good idea, yes, but it so poorly executed that it’s just a waste of time.

I wanted to give AdvancedDictionaryThesaurus four stars for overall quality. Instead, I find myself giving it one with the wish I could give it none.

Every time I open AdvancedDictionaryThesaurus I am prodded to give them 5 stars. Obnoxious. AdvancedDictionaryThesaurus doesn't even recall where I left off: dictionary or thesaurus. Great programming. They are so intent on shoving "new words" into the lexicon that they forgot all about the wonderful list of words that need more using. Elegant and eloquent words. But, if they want to reinforce speaking like trash, well they're on the right track. How tragically hip. English used to be a magnificent language, but now that organizations/apps like you and yours keep giving affirmation to the dumbing down of our language, we are being reduced to a bunch of emojis. Great work.

I use a dictionary to find the meaning of words I’ve not seen or heard before. This edition of a dictionary has none of the more recent vocabulary, whether street lingo, social newbies, or technical terms. Also no commonly used foreign words sprinkled within our English. I’ve tried AdvancedDictionaryThesaurus about a dozen times and rarely found it useful. I think it came with my iPhone, so it would be Apple that needs to upgrade this embarrassingly useless app.
Recently, I started allowing ‘word of the day’ notifications. Big mistake. Words chosen, said to be at random, are words an average, but well educated, person would seldom need. Today’s was a New Zealand lizard!
Really? Think I’ll need that one soon?
Yet, as said earlier, I read often. Words from France, Germany, etc come up Freqently.
Yet those words can’t be found without paying for your ‘Translate’ version.
One can find them via a Google or Yahoo search! And at no cost.
I’m finding your app less and less worthy. In fact I just took away one star from my earlier rating and plan to turn off your ‘Word of the Day.’
Overall, AdvancedDictionaryThesaurus is not useful. I do plan to search for a better one.

I have very challenging eye issues and it’s very hard for me to read my Bible on the white pages, so having the accessibility choices is awesome. I love the font size choices and audio commentaries. I prefer the black contrast background and I can read for at least an hour without any problems then when my eyes are tired I at least have the choice to listen to the audio commentaries. EVERY good thing comes from King Jesus💕✝️🕊🙏🏽💕

I just don't know what I was thinking, I use the free dictionary app. all the time, couldn't write without it. Every time I felt the need for a better, more appropriate word the dictionary wanted to sell me an app.; I just didn't think to look for a free version in AdvancedDictionaryThesaurus Store.
I love this thesaurus, it is so robust, incredible features; I just can't believe it took me this long to get it.

I can’t imagine finding a more complete dictionary anywhere! This thing is amazing. I
don’t know how you can’t find the info you need in it. The reason I only gave it 4 stars is so much info can get confusing. It seems like they could
eliminate some of the things or condense things to make it easier to use for the average person. I
know there are a lot of people who want the extra information but, not everyone.

Newest update: This is the second time to write this this morning. I’m getting use to this update and would have given it an additional star except that it keep sending me the same update word when I fire up my screen, but the wor never changes from “winter pea” yet the real update does change. If I hit send and it doesn’t send and wipes outLike the last one a few minutes ago I may look for a better app. There is no other way that I can see to report the glitch. Maybe some one related to AdvancedDictionaryThesaurus will fix it.

I love AdvancedDictionaryThesaurus! I am trying to improve my vocabulary and this is perfect for doing so! If I hear a word and am unsure of the meaning, I just grab my phone, open AdvancedDictionaryThesaurus and look it up! It even gives examples of the word used in sentences so you better understand how to use it! There's also word of the day and challenges to help you improve...it's great and I'm very glad that I came across AdvancedDictionaryThesaurus!

So far one of the most complete dictionary I have tried. Of course there are dictionaries for specific areas such as medicine,technology,etc so this one works for my needs. The Word of the Day is great for learning; the audio is clear too as well as the suggestions for other apps to improve and help you translating sentences.

Might be more enjoyable and elucidating to see various words and derivation & derivatives.
Understanding is a developing power. The mind is like a muscle, it needs to stretch, lift and carry daily. Eventually it will awaken more as I sleep or as any other conscious person sleeps we will be aided in our work and discovering things and whatever subject we are working on.
Our mind is a mouth whose thirst is never Quenched, whose hunger is never quenched.
These are the Realisations that come with Realization.

This dictionary App is an excellent resource for honors or A.P. H.S. or college courses. I’m glad I downloaded it. Although, there are “In-App” purchases, (Example, in order to “remove all advertising,” one must purchase the full App version.) but the advertisements do not bother me. The advertising displayed is well worth receiving a free dictionary App. (Especially, if one (such as myself) is a poor & broke college student!)

I have the Oxford app and some additional word dictionaries. However AdvancedDictionaryThesaurus was the ONLY one with important up-to-date entries used in these days of high technology and internationalization. Would have given 5 stars, but I miss the origin and transformation of words from earlier times. To me that makes the definitions more useful in our modern multicultural society.

It would be nice to amplify those words that we Americans use under different idiosyncrasies; southerners, northerners as well as those race/cultural based. This approach would provide a better understanding how rich our country is because our diversity.
Do you know where the middle finger came to be part of our lingo? Or how about “ Bless your heart “????

Quite the opportunity....new words, old words, over my heads words....but it is a easy opportunity to keep building my vocabulary and learn something new quickly. I love to pass the unique words on to friends...usually my really young high school friends. I always get 😜 comments back.

This dictionary app is for those of us who are curious about words and for whom learning is a never-ending process.
All of the activities for vocabulary building are helpful. My favorite is the Hang Man Game. Everyday a new "Word of the Day" is highlighted. This is one of the things I look forward to daily.

As a dictionary, I find it outstanding. Definitions extensive, thorough and readily understandable. Word of the Day informative. My only objection as reflected in 4 stars instead of 5 is due to my sometimes annoying, almost obsessive precision in word choices. It’s really “Words” or “Phrase” “of the Day”, not single “Word of the Day”. Not as catchy a title, but accurate. 😉

This is a wonderful app. I use it daily, for I write a lot, and whenever I’m unable to describe exactly what I mean I refer to AdvancedDictionaryThesaurus, and the Thesaurus gives me several words to choose from. This makes writing a long article so pleasant, knowing, as I write, that I have expressed myself clearly.

AdvancedDictionaryThesaurus is one of my regular "go to" apps. The user interface is intuitive and efficient. I can honestly say it has never failed to answer my question of how to spell a word or give me its meaning. The Talk & Translate feature is a great addition to those needing help with a second language.

I have this on my phone and use it often. Great help for those often misspelled words and for words you thought you always thought you knew how to spell but your text program of choice tells you you didn’t.
