The Factual Reviews

I was in high school when I started really getting into the world news and politics. Even now, it’s super hard to know which sources to trust, what the authors’ biases are, or even where to find credible information that is true. The internet gave us so many new ways of finding information about the world, yet it also introduced the dizzying problem of where to start and where to go next.

The Factual was one of the only sites I found that had up-to-date source checking, as well as giving me new websites that I hadn’t seen before!

Of course, you should still check other websites outside of the ones that the Factual recommends, but a level of caution should always be used with any news site as well.

But The Factual makes things so much easier! All the mainstream media news outlets and a little bit of small news sites are shown to you, as well as author credibility and fact checking! The more sources you read from, the more you get to have a wider view of your topic. The Factual makes it that much easier, and if you don’t trust their fact checking, they even have info about how their algorithm works!

This is one of the only sites that truly cares about the cultivation of unbiased information in terms of news media. Please give it a try! It is absolutely worth your while if you would like to view the world from all perspectives!

The Factual has been my daily news source since it first came out. During the pandemic and Trump-era I noticed that most news devolved into propaganda or opinion pieces on both sides of the aisle. This was wildly dismaying for me, no matter what your political stance is - news like this hurts everyone. Thankfully the Factual came around to save the day. They present news as it should be - news. They help filter through the garbage op Ed’s and get to what actually matters. They even rate individual sources based on their content and biases. You can easily set whether you lean right, left, or center to get more actual news from your political preference, but their daily digest is where they shine - displaying the truly important news and very nicely done polling. I couldn’t recommend it more highly

I have been using The Factual since before it became an app. I saw an add for The Factual in my Facebook feed (btw nice marketing, it worked!) depicting having multiple news sites/apps to get multiple perspectives. I felt called out because I had 3 main news apps I referred to at the time.
I like The Factual app for providing credibility and political ratings for articles, as well as a timeline, and additional articles on the topic.
I start everyday with The Factual newsletter for my morning news and the latest news sections to start current.

If you want to understand and recognize your own biases while filtering out the unimportant information, The Factual is the way to go! I’ve been reading it daily for over a year, and it is my first go-to in the morning to get a quick look with in depth articles if I want them, presented so I understand the credibility of the source and the specific article. I would recommend to anyone that doesn’t want to buy into the idea that they get their ideological marching orders depending on what news site they watch or read.

Really impressed with the execution of TheFactual. The mobile app is as good as the web version and they’ve spent time honing the experience for their consumers. In a weird time that we’re living through right now, it’s been tough to figure out whether the news I’m getting is in my bubble or whether the rest of the craziness is just that. Really liked how TheFactual was executed. Looking forward to more international news and analysis pieces that help readers like myself.

Pros:
- allows filtering by factual ratings
- shows trending topics
- includes highlights and perspective analysis based on analytics

Cons:
- clicking on many of the news topics requires you to sign up for the individual news source subscription in order to read - leaving you with only the highlights and perspectives
- doesn’t allow to save or favorite any stories, so there’s no way of going back to them in the future unless you search for them
- sharing news topics means sending links to other source websites - which again means the recipient needs to sign up for that news source subscription if required

Overall, I wish there were more openable features from The Factual that would drive to the highlights and perspectives vs one particular news outlet. I also wonder how/why they highlight a particular news outlet vs others. Would prefer highlights and perspectives from The Factual that aggregates key points and perspectives with links out to the news sources.

I do not go a single day without reviewing the news inside of The Factual. Whether in TheFactual or within the handy email newsletter, the articles and summaries are exactly the right balance for being informed but not overly obsessed with the news. I always feel better after reading The Factual, and that is not something I can say for when I look at news on Twitter or Reddit.

With so much noise and click bait out there, I was refreshed to have a good friend recommend The Factual to me. I was originally a newsletter subscriber but discovered their app. Moving beyond the echo chambers that my Twitter feed and Google news feed have become, it’s encouraging to get a balanced view on the most important things happening both in the US and Globally. Still love waking up and skimming the newsletter to get the tldr as well.

Typically it’s easy to feel overwhelmed with news apps, so it’s nice to have something that lets you consume the news more coolly. Good for those who are prioritizing getting the facts first on trending topics, also for those who want a range of opinion. I also like that it’s good for people with weird schedules, I can quickly get the gist of things in a few min or read up on stuff as much as I want.

I have never taken the time to write a review. Ever. However, this organization and Application is second to none. I appreciate the full transparency that they offer in how they rate news sources. The selected offering of top news helps me keep abreast of the larger happens while the “highly credible, under reported” section is where I read from the most.

The Factual is by far my favorite source for articles with much lower levels of bias covering national and world events. These are available all the time through TheFactual but delivered every morning via app notification and their email newsletter. This is the only subscription I pay for, and it's well worth it!
Facts not fear!

The Factual is a tremendous resource for those who are interested in knowing what is happening in the news, without having to be told how to think about it…a valuable tool in a time when reliable information has become more difficult to access.

TheFactual nicely summarizes the top stories of the day, with different viewpoints presented so you can get different political points-of-view. Sources are provided and some topics even have a "long-read" take so you can dive further into a story. Clean, uncluttered interface. Love the embedded info-graphics, too. My favorite is the "HIGHLY CREDIBLE, UNDER-REPORTED STORIES" section.

As an independent thinker and registered independent who finds that the left wing and right wing media oversimplify the issues and select only the facts that serve them, The Factual is my trusted source to know what is really going on in the world.

I love the simplicity of reducing the key news to 5 stories per day and how they highlight different viewpoints for every story.

Thank you for awakening our brains and encouraging us all to think for ourselves and make up our own minds rather than mindlessly following some talking head.

The Factual is the only news source helping to bring America together and reduce the partisan bickering.

The Factual team have done a great job in developing a simple, clear interface that is a natural progression to their newsletter & website which I’ve subscribed to for some time now. Would thoroughly recommend for those looking to “clean up” their news cycle. Great work!

I helped make TheFactual so I’m biased, but with such a small team at the factual they do a really good job at providing a good user experience. TheFactual has almost all the features the website does and wow, is that a complicated website.

I like how the information is presented with opposing views cited so you can see where it is coming from. This gives me quick easily digested information.
