I think the star rating for this app is way too low

I’ve been using WorkItwithMG for over a year and while in the beginning there were a couple of glitches, I think the overall model of WorkItwithMG is perfect and exactly what I was looking for. First off it comes with SO many more features then other apps I’ve used. I can choose to work out at home or at the gym, choose vegetarian or non-vegetarian meal options, and I love the motivational stickers and the education page. The workouts themselves are great and she details not only the proper form but the tempo which has improved my overall fitness. It’s also great that I have the option to choose if I can see calories on the meals or not. I’m someone who likes to track and measure things, especially fitness, but when I catch myself becoming a little too obsessed and feeling unhappy I can shut off those counters and just focus once again on movement and the joy it brings me. I also love that she offers a pay tier making fitness more accessible to those less privileged. Overall I’m quite happy with WorkItwithMG and will definitely continue to use it.




Better than your typical fitness app

When I downloaded WorkItwithMG, I expected that it would be comparable to a fitness guide pdf - which was OK with me - but it ended up being a LOT more than that. It has an entire plant-based recipe library which I LOVE and it’s easy to cater to vegans + is super efficient the way it’s laid out. Best part? There’s no calorie counts! I love that you can go back and forth between weeks and decide if you want to workout 3, 4, or 5 days a week - and that WorkItwithMG doesn’t try to overload you with cardio like most guides do. I also like that there’s a self-care component and it gives you a daily ~stress less~ tip. I think that’s a super important component of fitness that’s commonly overlooked so it’s cool that it’s included. Overall I’m extremely pleased with WorkItwithMG - wish I could give it more stars!




Should have waited longer to release

I’m sure this has the potential to be a handy and fun health and fitness app. Unfortunately, as it is now, it should not have been released.

To name a few issues: WorkItwithMG crashes and freezes regularly, there is little customization allowed, cancelling your subscription is a nightmare (I am still trying to figure that one out), and videos are slow both to load and then pause buffer often while playing.

Suggestions for improvement:
1. Let me see the time and phone % while WorkItwithMG is open. Simple, but appreciated! :)
2. Include timers to be used for rest periods
3. Autoplay workout videos instead of having me look at more info. The ‘more info’ section is great for getting written step by step instructions, but I feel I shouldn’t have to select it to see visual representation of the movement.
4. What does ‘tempo: 2011’ (for example) even mean? Maybe reword for better clarity.
5. When I’ve selected that I completed all supersets in a workout, there is no option to complete the workout. My only option is to back out, only to see that nothing got saved. Probably just a little bug, but that is a major component of WorkItwithMG and should be taken care of ASAP

In conclusion, as WorkItwithMG is right now it is not worth paying for. I enjoy Madalin’s content and hope I will be able to enjoy an updated and improved version of this in the future! For now though, I’ll stick to other health and fitness apps.




Plenty of other, better workout apps

You’re probably downloading WorkItwithMG bc you follow her on instagram. So did I. Truth is, you can find more workout content on her instagram page for $0. The workouts in WorkItwithMG just repeat every day, so you’re not actually getting much new content at all. Not even sure what I’m paying for here. I used WorkItwithMG for 2 months and am now switching to Volt app which is much better.

Also, WorkItwithMG is really poorly designed (I’m a senior product designer, I design apps for a living, this one is just... not good). I was trying to ignore this just bc I wanted to do her workouts, but for the price and the quality and the content (or lack thereof), just go watch her instagram workouts. It’s the same content, and you’ll find more of it on there than in this overpriced, poorly designed app.

I’ve tried Nike’s workout app and Volt app and both are much better, in every way. Try those.




Would be amazing with customization options

I was really excited for WorkItwithMG, I thought it would be the boost I need to help kick up my health routine. I love the layout, the water/sleep/step tracking, and how there are explanations about why certain things are important.

Unfortunately I have a nut allergy so nearly all of the recipes did not apply to me. Also it did not let me pick which days I have workouts, and there are some days I absolutely cannot find time to work out with my schedule. I would keep the subscription to get access to the workouts to use on my less busy days rather than my assigned days, but it’s far too expensive for that.

I’m very thankful there was a free trial period so that I could find out it does not work for my dietary/workout needs whatsoever without spending money on it.




Love working it with MG

Idk why this is rated what it is because honestly I’ve been using WorkItwithMG for 5 weeks now and I see incredible results already and that’s doing workouts at home 3x a week. I have never stuck with a program for this long besides the pdf version. I look forward to working out now. It is something I do for myself when I put my daughter down for a nap and I love it. If you are hesitant about getting WorkItwithMG don’t be! You will love it once you give it a chance. The workouts are full body and really give you a sweat. I have never sweat like this before. It feels ah-mazing. Do it! Work it with MG!!!




Not enough content for the price

I have been a long time fan of MG love her insta and have had her guide. My initial problem with WorkItwithMG was that there was content talked about in preparation for it that was not included. Then as I explored it I realized there there overall is not much to it at all. Things are not automated and there are so many glitches I have had to just resort to closing it before my workout is complete. You shouldn’t have to manually enter everything, because then there is little point to the feature. There also lacks customization, I understand the concept behind full body workouts, but I had the same workouts for WEEKS. It got very boring. Overall they should’ve waited to release this until it had all the promised content and better function.




Not worth the subscription cost

I am a fan of MG’s workout guides and like others was super excited for WorkItwithMG. I understand that it is still new but it is extremely glitchy. The workout videos don’t load and when they finally do, it is only partially and would freeze again. You can’t enter your steps or adjust your workout calendar. The barest of information is presented. I feel the guides gave more structure and set goals better.

WorkItwithMG should not have been launched yet. It should’ve been tested more thoroughly especially with the expensive subscription price. I know it can be better and will improve eventually, but at the moment it is not worth the cost.




Full body only :/

I had previously used mg original guide which was mostly focused to different body parts. Still was all over the place in the gym which I love so much. I thought if you had paid for the guide you could use WorkItwithMG but you have to pay monthly additionally. Wish I could customize the workout days to work with my schedule. I also wish you could pick the workouts and it be custom to each body part and not just full body. I dont want to do leg press then do bicep curls right after. I do like the water tracker the and the food recipes are fun. Still some glitches, it did kick me out a few times.




Extremely overpriced for what you get (5 recipes and 3 workouts that repeat each week)

I’ve had the exact same four meals rotated around for two weeks. The same three workout also repeat and aren’t very glute focused. I really wanted at least one day a week dedicated to glute training. Glute training is part of what got me interested in WorkItwithMG over others. Not worth the price. You can’t track anything, and you can’t mix and match your meals or even get a grocery list for the week. You can’t switch your workout days either. Basically you get 4 recipes and three workouts that repeat each week for $20 a month!! Extremely overpriced for what you get.




Cons and pros

It’s a great app behind a great gal but the videos won’t load for me no matter what, on WiFi or not. I am a newbie so I do not know how to maintain the correct form without the videos. Please send help




More than a fitness app

Work It does more than other fitness apps for me! Not only does it give me structure for my workouts at the gym, it also gives me tailored (vegan!!) recipes that stay within my macros, reminds me to get enough water, and focuses on other aspects of overall wellness! Loved my first couple days on it (I’m an experienced lifter and I am SORE this morning), can’t wait to keep with it and see how my quality of life continues to improve!




LOVE this app!

Love using WorkItwithMG and am THRILLED to have found a workout app that is working in the direction of optimal health for everyone instead of pushing a weight loss agenda.

As someone in recovery from an eating disorder/years of disordered eating, it’s such a relief to have an option out there that isn’t centered around trying to change or fix my body. Love using this to build strength, stamina and working out on a regular basis does wonders for my mental health.




Beware of downloading this app

If I could give WorkItwithMG 0 stars I would! Content is terrible and they are very sly on screwing you out of your money. They don’t explain how to cancel after the free trial. I tried to reach out to their so called “support” and they didn’t answer for days. They decided to answer my question on how to cancel after they charged me. Then as this dumb chick kept answering me back she would email back fast. They totally did not reply to my initial email until it was too late so they could screw me out of my money. Thanks “hun” but this company is out to screw ya....take your work out and money else where.




Glitchy- Could not get it to work for me

I was so excited for WorkItwithMG- I love MG on Instagram and I was loving her fitness content there, but I was so let down.

WorkItwithMG was glitchy from the start. Each page was incredibly slow to load. Sometimes it wouldn’t register my attempts to navigate through WorkItwithMG . I couldn’t even view the workout videos without WorkItwithMG freezing on me. I was quitting and restarting WorkItwithMG often to try to get it to work before I gave up.

I don’t have access to gym equipment so I changed the settings so that I could view home workouts, however WorkItwithMG never switched over. I could only access workout that I had no equipment for.

I was interested in recipes with meat, so I changed those settings as well. Again WorkItwithMG would not update and I was only shown plant based meals.

The design is a bit tacky and could be more user friendly. I’m so glad there was a trial period.
