WASTE OF $$$

COMPLETE FAIL AND WASTE OF MONEY

Every single plant I tried to load for identification was incorrect. It looks like it only tried to review a tiny portion of the picture uploaded and not the entire surface of the picture or even the plant. Many plants are similar and if enough isn’t scanned it’ll not be identified correctly. I used it for less than thirty minutes and sadly I’m out $30 for nothing. I got the six month subscription, as it is slightly cheaper than yearly and I thought I’d have decent luck with PlantSpotPlantIdentification, but it literally did not identify a single plant correctly. The only thing it got right was a specific type of acorn, which was perfectly positioned in the middle of the image on my hand with no other plants surrounding it, which another problem it has. You shouldn’t have to pick every item you want identified just so that it’s isolated completely. That’s a waste and being not a good steward of natural resources.

Dissatisfied

Read reviews before you buy this is, not worth the risk. I tried PlantSpotPlantIdentification for one plant and never used it again and cancelled. Only to be billed for a full year. I can’t accept this service charge when i dont this service any longer than the one time i tired it out. The fact the company imposed a yr service after a three day trial feels very fraudulent and cruel towards unsuspecting users. Apple offers no help either. PlantSpotPlantIdentification isn’t worth the hassle and the fee is unfair to immediately bill after a small trial period. They didn’t offer a weekly or monthly option during the trial enlistment and i think it’s very shady and untrustworthy business practices to make money in a deceiving way off trusting customers. Apple and this vendor are greedy and have terrible customer service to treat people this way.

Cute idea, but...

Cute idea but it got 80 percent of my house plants incorrect. It said anything with green leaves only was an evergreen of some sort. It couldn’t identify my snakeplant. Other than my pathos and spider plant, it got them all incorrect. In the hands of a new gardener, that could mean the death of a plant and loss of money. Not to mention how pricey PlantSpotPlantIdentification is. Maybe it works better for plants that have flowers?

I gave it 2 stars because I love the idea and the fact that there are resources growing for plant lovers. I would love to see the information become more accurate and the price be cut in half. They would be much more successful that way. Maybe I’ll try again in a year or so.

Outrageous money-grab and bad app

Downloaded the three-day trial. Set myself a reminder to delete PlantSpotPlantIdentification before being charged. Used PlantSpotPlantIdentification for a day, and it was bad at distinguishing plants from one another—if another plant was in the background, it got confused. I deleted PlantSpotPlantIdentification within the three-day window, only to find I was charged $9 today because I didn’t *unsubscribe*—which requires navigating Apple’s labyrinthine settings menu. Complained to Apple about getting charged for an app I don’t have downloaded, and they don’t care. $9/week for a mediocre-at-best app is a RIP-OFF. Clearly designed so people like my mom will download it and not notice she’s being charged literally hundreds of dollars a year. Shame on you guys, and shame on Apple.

Not happy

I downloaded PlantSpotPlantIdentification because it said free, but it was not free. You had to subscribe, was only free for 3 days. I tried to use it and it didn’t work for what I was doing. So I looked everywhere to figure out how to delete it so I would not be charged. I could find no info anywhere in PlantSpotPlantIdentification . So I deleted from my phone. Apparently that wasn’t good enough cause I was charged $8.43. For something I didn’t even have anymore. Luckily I checked my bank statement cause in two days I was scheduled to be charged again. I was finally able to find some info on the internet that showed me how to get rid of the subscription. This site is not helpful. Just wants your $$$.

Does not recognize plants

I am so disappointed about PlantSpotPlantIdentification. Right away I paid for the 6 months subscription since after reading some reviews and PlantSpotPlantIdentification description I was very hopeful PlantSpotPlantIdentification would have helped in identifying the right care for several plants I have that are not doing too well. Unfortunately, PlantSpotPlantIdentification could not identify 1 single plant! I tried many different plants, I took many different pictures, but nothing, not even 1 plant could be identified. I have very common plants in my house, nothing that a plant identifier app should not have in its database. I wish I could get my $30 back, it was very naive of me to pay for this upfront.

Not Up Front

U don’t know u have to pay until u get into PlantSpotPlantIdentification . It’s not up front, it just says GET! I never entered my name, hit start, continue, allow location, start trial, etc. So I hope I didn’t commit to anything. Then when u do a search for cancel info it doesn’t give u that information! I don’t believe I signed up for PlantSpotPlantIdentification at all. I went & looked through settings & couldn’t find anything confirming any type of purchase so I don’t believe I did. U really need to be more clear in the beginning & instruct ppl where to cancel! Ur not sharing enough info in the first place. Thank u.

A waist of time

It’s range of identifying any flower is barely size of a quarter! I retook pictures, by its exact necessity to view a photograph and know it’s IDENTITY! I did this 4 times, after I had already taken pictures of the flowers myself 3 times ! So, far not 1 was known. I added, a rose, a begonia, a geranium also. I added an English Ivy plant and a fern. It didn’t even know either of those! Who, has an APP to IDENTITY PLANTS and Flowers? They can not identify the most basic of flowers and plants? It might have a lot to do with poor , extremely poor space their little magnifier covers. Don’t waist your time with PlantSpotPlantIdentification!

Didn’t work as needed

PlantSpotPlantIdentification could not identify the plant I was hoping to get info on. Also tried searching another plan who’s name I knew and came up with nothing.

Also it states in the “free trial” that you can cancel any time via settings. I could not find anywhere in settings to cancel (as other users have also notes) and had to google it (canceled via the “renew subscription” link at the bottom of the email sent when I signed up).

I will day PlantSpotPlantIdentification is nicely designed. But didn’t work for my needs.

bummer

I was just excited to test this one out mainly because the reviews were so good. But I
was very disappointed when I opened PlantSpotPlantIdentification and found out that you have to pay to use the plant id finder which was the whole reason I got it was so I identify plants and i’m only 13 years old so I have no money to pay for it and I just recently got into plants so I don’t know the names of them yet so it was a real bummer to find out you had to “pay to play”

Expensive and not very helpful.

At $7.99 PER WEEK, buying an actual book would be better. My first attempt at an identification came up with 3 possibilities; a wort, a maple, or a geranium. Then there is only one picture and a short description of each possible match. For the price it should have a description of each part of the plant and how it looks in each season. I’ll pass on PlantSpotPlantIdentification.

Not for succulents

I personally downloaded this to help identify some succulents I have but this is clearly not for that. I bet PlantSpotPlantIdentification works great for flowers, trees, etc. but it’s not for succulents. It got about 2 of 10 correct or slightly close. It doesn’t help that there are soooo many different types of succulents and they don’t always look similar even if it the same plant.

So useful!

I'm an exterior designer and often work with clients who plan to redesign their garden. Well, that's where PlantSpotPlantIdentification became one of my personal favourites, especially when we visit my clients' neighbors because they would like to have similar bushes and flowers in their garden.

Disappointed

I love plants but I don’t always know what plant I have or the best way to care of it. I got PlantSpotPlantIdentification to help me identify what I have and hopefully give some insight into each plant. PlantSpotPlantIdentification is horrible at identifying plants. I take 20 pictures of the same plant and every time it comes up with different wrong answers. The descriptions of each plant are minimal at best and not helpful in the slightest. I was really excited when I got PlantSpotPlantIdentification but I’m nothing but disappointed. 😔😔

Doesn’t Work - Sadly

Before trying to take any pictures of the plants that I’m trying to identify, I wanted to test it out and made sure it worked on some plants that I do know. I tried taking a picture of a rubber plant, pothos and snake plant. Unfortunately, it didn’t identity any of those. Read through the FAQ and How to take picture but it still didn’t work. Glad there was a three day trial. Definitely wouldn’t have been worth the money.
