Review from a day 1 player

I don’t think there will ever be another gacha that will be held as near and dear to my heart as Dragalia Lost is. I’ve tried so many different gachas from the extremely popular ones to the not so popular ones and none of them seem to be able to hold my attention for more than a week. Most of them have amazing presentation and music and are technically sound, but the gameplay is what always kills it for me. I am a fan of turn-based combat but I feel like the market for gachas is too saturated with it. Thats the main reason why Dragalia Lost caught my attention. It is an ARPG gacha with a beautiful story and cast of characters, interesting bosses and mechanics, plenty of content dropping often, and honestly the best combat system ive ever played in any gacha or mobile game in general. Yes, you can pay money to get more characters and dragons that you want but the game never felt pay to win because you still have to have the skill to take on those tough bosses. I believe that is where the game truly shined. So sad to see it go, but I hope this is a wake up call for other gachas that great action gameplay is still highly desired just like turn-based combat is. I really hope to see Dragalia make a return in some shape or form because I can’t bear to say goodbye to this amazing game for good.

Very Early Review

I’ve only played two chapters but wow! This game is pretty amazing! I’ve played a fair share of these types of rpg games but this one is very well made. The music is really catchy and fun. I love the unique walking screen at the main menu. The graphics are really good and the story is decent. I’m not much of a fan of the “cliche” fantasy plot in these games, but it does have some interesting element to it with the mysterious girl probably being the sister from the future. I have seen similar parallels to fire emblem heroes in which you must summon heroes and level them up. So far the plot reminds me of fire emblem awakening a bit so that’s a good thing. The gameplay feels very refreshing to me and I love moving my character smoothly across the screen with his friends following him behind. This game is super big so make sure that you got enough space to download. I didn’t realize that after you download the game you have to download all the chapters as well. So far the only real complaint I have about the game is the kinda “cliche plot” but that’s really more of a nitpick since I expect that type of plot in these types of games. I’ll probably write a better review later on when I’ve played the game more. It’s really cool that these two company’s collabed together. This is quite amazing and clean so far. Great job guys!

INCREDIBLE GAME!! WISH I COULD GIVE 6 STARS

Warning: this description is pretty long, but I think you’ll manage. Just wanted to say smth if you wanted a short review.

I have been playing for a while. About 8 chapters actually, And I have to say….wow..just wow. I will admit, this game isn’t perfect, but it’s pretty close to perfect! I play it everyday and it never fails to entertain me. The characters are well thought of and beautifully designed, and gameplay is smooth and playable (rare I know) and you don’t have to spend half a penny on a single thing. ( well, except one thing, but it isn’t important to the story, And I have been playing for a long time and didn’t use it once. ) So I have to say, you HAVE to download. You can start alliances with actual players and talk, you can collect all sorts of amazing dragons and wyrmprints, you can fall in love will all sorts of characters and dragons, chill and read some Dragalia Life, (basically short comics that update all the time) and SO MUCH MORE! I 100% recommend this game. If your looking for an action packed, fun, ongoing adventure game with a great storyline, This is the game for you. That’s all I really have to say. Great game, keeps updating so your never bored, and overall. I love it, and I think you will too.

Lovely! But just one problem...

So I started playing recently because I am playing FEH (Fire Emblem Heroes) so I wanted to try out this game since it was the game that FEH was having a crossover with. I’ve been enjoying the game recently. I love the music(not to mention the vocal remix of the fire emblem theme) and just playing the game in general had me captivated! I play this on an iPhone 6. I believe this is where the problem begins. Since I’ve started playing, the game has had the tendency to crash during many actions including summoning, story mode quests, co-op, etc. It’s kind of stressful to have to carefully examine your adventurers list to see if you got any 5 star adventurers from when your game crashed. And don’t forget the pity you feel when you are the host of a co-op quest and your game crashes. I dunno if the problem is storage space or the phone model because I searched up this problem online, and other people were stating that they had the same crashing problem with other types of phones. Anyone working at Nintendo, if you are actually reading this, please at least try to make this game more accessible to players with older phone models. Yes there are other problems like people trying to ask you all to get rid of something in the game (I’m new to the game so I forgot what it was called) but I believe it is more important to serve to those who are having trouble actually playing the game before tending to those who can play the game just fine.

This Game Has Some Bugs

I want to make it clear I like this game, but it’s a bit broken, and at first I thought the bugs were just there because I had a crap phone, I now have an iPhone SE (the one from last year not the old one) and while they’re less frequent they still exist. Worst one would be the screen freezing while it’s loading, only the screen though, from the audio you can tell it’s still working but you just can’t see, powering off the phone (not just putting it into sleep mode) will make it go back to normal but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be fixed. The other big one is random UI things disappear when you go to the chapter select screen or try to change the difficulty while in the level select screen, it doesn’t happen all the time but it happens most of the time, this one is fixed by just closing the game but it’d be better if it wasn’t a thing. I should also mention I’m not one of those people who has 20 apps open at a time on a phone from 2012 and thinks their storage being low is the problem.

16k might player review

This game is fun! However, after reaching end stage content and building your team to the max it seems pretty redundant. There is very little incentive to keep growing and leveling up units and getting better gear when there are no rewards for getting there. I believe leaderboards, a working chat (stickers are cool tho), guilds to make co-op easier to run with friends and minor bug fixes can really make this game grow. They need to try to add more things that go with co-op or place player vs player things to make you want to play more. Summoning is okay you have a pity counter which is great but its disappointing if you already have a 5* character and get the same one again but at the expense of your pity count. Honestly even a single wyrmprint would be better then a 5* character repeat if its gonna reset your counter. Diamantium is pretty expensive, music is awesome, art is breathtaking, and event exclusive rewards are pretty great, there are goods and bads. But this game is new! So nintendo/cygames ima keep playing and i really hope to see fresh ideas instead of just events where you farm a raid for rewards because no matter how cool the art and play-style may be it WILL get stale. There has to be something more than that to this game to make it a truly unique and worthwhile experience :)

Cute Story, But Events Are Too Grindy

I throughly enjoyed this story. I kept playing just so I could find out how it ends. HOWEVER, the developers seem to be focused on making events that require you to sit there and repeat the same stage over and over again, simply to receive lack-luster rewards, rather than to release more chapters for the main story. The first event released was awesome for a few reasons. First off, you were working towards actually getting a character to use in the game after the event was over. Events now don’t have this option, you just have to be lucky enough (or have enough money) to summon the characters. Secondly, while the first event was “grindy” it was still different than the other “game modes”. Now events are just the same as every other level in the game. I feel like there is so much potential within reach for this game. The developers just need to refocus their time and efforts on the aspects of this game that made it unique.

Also, why the heck does this game have to be so confusing? There is so much time involved in leveling up characters, dragons, weapons, wyrmprints, buildings, mana circlets, etc. this literally takes up way too much time. And why is “unbinding” even a thing. Literally the stupidest step I think I’ve seen in any game. Also, what is eldwater? Haven’t used it yet, but I have a lot, only know it exists because it’s one of the rewards.

Fun game, but such high prices...

I wish I could still give this 5 stars, but there’s so many adventurers and dragons at this point that trying to get a certain one or even one of a dozen or so seems pretty much impossible without spending hundreds of dollars...

Even during the ‘Galas’ where 5-Star Adventurers/Dragons are supposed to drop at a 6% rate or higher, it can easily take upwards of 30 summons before you see one that you already have drop with one that you want, even if it’s a featured one, will more than likely take hundreds of summons, which, if you don’t have lots of money, you’ll just want to play for months without spending any premium currency or summoning tickets to have a slight chance at...

If you save up long enough you can do 300 summons to be able to get enough “wyrmsigils” to get your choice of a 5-star from a small selection available during a given banner, but those only last a few weeks and if you don’t summon enough, those sigils will instead convert to a barely usable currency... After coming back to the game years later, I got enough “welcome back” gifts to be able to get one such selection and receive Joker, but it’s just soul-crushing to try and get enough free currency to be able to get anything truly useful, sadly... 😭

Going downhill

I’ve been playing since day 1 and really enjoyed the gameplay, story, and events. If I were to leave a review 6 months ago I would have given it 5 stars, but shortly after the first anniversary the game has been going downhill, fast. They released new endgame content with new weapons that completely unbalanced the game and made the previous best weapons trash. Worse is that a few months later they added a new type of endgame content that is easier than the previous endgame content but rewards a stronger weapon than the previous endgame content while being easier to farm. A few months later they started to put the nails in the coffin by adding revives to even the high difficulty quests, removing any since of accomplishment. And now about a month ago, they completely killed any sense of skill in this game and basically made it an idle tapper by having all attacks that could normally be avoided by using a skill, just require you to roll and be invincible for the duration of the roll. They also added shared skills which made healers even more useless and now endgame content dies in under a minute, some like master high brunhilda dies in 15 seconds. Oh, and you can auto the expert agitos pretty easily now so no point in actually playing the game. I want to be hopeful that they will turn this game around and make it as good as it used to be but every decision they are making is telling me they won’t.

Major Flaw

When first waiting for the game to come out I was delighted with the great graphics, art style and voices characters. As I continued to play the game got increasingly more difficult as suspected but I had a giant problem once getting there, the summons. Despite playing since the first day it came out I have never received a 5 star dragon within the normal summons. This is a problem because doing the more difficult dungeons was almost impossible without the buffs they provide. I know about the dragons provided in the raids but from what I saw they are weaker then some 4 star dragons. For example Pele is a 5 star dragon that is just a re-skin of a four star with weaker stats. I have tried working for the great wyrm trails for a 5 star but the materials required for that takes an insane amount of time. It’s just no matter what I do the game works against me as I did ten-fold summon I would say about 20 times in the whole game and never got anything good to show of it. Despite paying a couple dollars there was still no process and I have to say I am done with it. Perhaps other players don’t have my luck but I just can’t take hoping for something useful every time and getting crushed each time. Long story short please change the summon rates.

I never thought I’d enjoy a free to play mobile game

but here I am and I can’t put Dragalia Lost down. The gameplay is simple and satisfying with taps, presses, and dragging of one finger doing everything. The visuals are amazing and akin to some Fire Emblem art. The music is catchy and the English text translated by the ninjas of the game industry over at 8-4 absolutely bring the characters to life. All of this sounds great and I’d expect it to be ruined once it’s wrapped up in all the free to play game tropes that drain the fun out of anything. This isn’t the case with Dragalia. It does have a stamina bar, a handful of different currencies that can be bought and are individually used to level up different things, but none of that have felt like it’s held me back from playing and enjoying the game. It is a grind and you can pay to alleviate some of that but I don’t feel compelled to. I do feel like I’d buy a pack of resources but only because I’m enjoying the game so much and I’ve never felt that while playing a mobile game. Give the game a shot if you enjoy quick co op dungeon runs that reward you with EXP and resources used to upgrade your characters.

Review to freemium model

So to put simply I’ll start with this is a very addictive game and it does a good job but let’s start with a full roll it’ll cost you between 30-40 dollars u.s. also it is a pay to win game I’ve played everyday and I’m overly enjoying myself so don’t let this discourage you there’s plenty to do and if you pay attention to the crafting, your halidom and mana wheel you’ll be plenty strong for events and story this is a co-op game no pvp at the moment so really there no stress because the single player isn’t difficult just work on your characters and play your daily events also clear your daily objectives but if your gonna pay
(Warning to buyers)

stockpile is my recommendation buy your weekly single options and the weekly gold mana and fifty gems don’t spend them save them 20-30 dollars a week will basically get you a roll so you save money but again save it so you can snipe a banner you really want trust me the gacha can be unforgiving so you’ll want more rolls .if your gonna spend patience and be smart if all goes well you’ll have really cool stuff
I hoped this help someone

I *want* to like this but I struggle

Right off the bat, the game pulled me in, I was interested in the story and the mechanics and the beautiful visuals, and honestly the actual gameplay part (combat, controlling your character, etc.) is extremely good for a phone rpg, and that's the part that made me keep trying it for longer. But after a little while, the rest of the "game" I just couldn't handle any more. I'm talking the menus, the layouts, the "freemium" mechanics. It's so loud, chaotic, needlessly complex, and crowded. It detracts from the actual game, it's difficult to navigate, and even if I was interested in paying for upgrades or whatever, I couldn't figure out how to do it. I would have much rather just paid a base price, got rid of 90% of the menus, and played the actual game part. But if sticking with the freemium model, it just needed to be implemented better, WAY too many menus and options are thrown at the player right at the beginning. It's unsightly and difficult to navigate, needs to be condensed and simplified. Because of this, I uninstalled the game, and I rarely give reviews but I wanted to do so for this one because I feel like it actually had potential if it just hadn't covered a gold nugget in an outer shell of crap.

Played since launch - Genuine Quality

Let me start by saying this game is NOT PAY TO WIN. You can pay and definitely gain some boosts, but it’s not really worth spending hundreds of dollars, or at least not necessary. I’ve spend some money and feel satisfied and that it is deserving of a little spending because holy moly here’s the gameplay:
Yes it can be a touch grindy and repetitive; HOWEVER, adding skip tickets, 2x Autoplay, and making newer challenges and events that can either do co-op or solo more difficult provide enough entertainment to stay. The character’s all have their own story and unique abilities that can make even 3* or 4* viable adventurers.
Also, let me just say I bop to these soundtracks.
On a different note though, an idea for improvement or thoughts would be towards implementing a pvp mode. I don’t have much thought as to how it could be done, maybe like a “Arena practice within the halidom” sort of thing? I’m not much into pvp, but I would definitely be into Dragalia’s!
TL;DR: Game is great with a catchy and simple play style, lovely story, BOPPING TUNES, and uhhh not pay to win. 5/5

Limited Wyrmite

For a gotcha game, it’s fun, but when you resource to buy characters is limited, it’s no longer fun. Once you’ve done all the events and all the missions, it becomes a pain to get Wyrmite. Dragonyule Cleo was a featured hero, and after grinding for hours soon hours getting as much Wyrmite as I could, I didn’t get her. With all my events completed there wasn’t really much I could do to get Wyrmite, So I never got her. It was frustrating knowing that if there was more ways to get Wyrmite, I could have had a chance to get her. I do have an idea on making it easier to get Wyrmite, is to sell dragons and Wyrmprints. When you sell them you get Eldwater and Rubies, while I’m fine with the Eldwater, Rubies are one of the easiest thing to get in the game because of the Avenue to Fortune event. Instead of getting rubies when you sell something, I fell like it would be better if you would get Wyrmite instead, it’s a lot more useful to get them rubies because like I said, rubies are so easy to get that they become worthless. I’d like if you just took my idea into consideration, and if Wyrmite was just a little easier to get, then this game would be close to perfect.

Better than Sonic and the Secret Rongs

This game is fun, the combat is active enough to remain engaging and the simple controls allow me to play with one hand while I teach with the other. The story is cute enough that I read it and I do not skip it, but it is self aware in the fact that it knows it’s not breaking any new grounds. The music is bouncy and fun and I very much enjoy the J-influence in it. The characters seem to have potential and by that I mean I can see them releasing cool characters that will make me want to spend money on this game ( not a bad thing). For now it is fun and free as of writing I have not spent any money but I would gladly drop 5 dollars on this game. Nintendo and partners do well to bring a fun, simple, yet subtly neck deep experience to my phone and I continue to play their games as they feel they have effort put in. I can tell the most love has gone into the character design so I really look forward to seeing if they build on an expanding roster of interesting characters, or if they choose to expound upon the current main ones.
I give this game a Hippopotamus out of 5.
Good job guys!

Hands down best F2P game out there

This is definitely the best free to play game out there while being extremely fun. The game has a great storyline that are fully voiced in Japanese or English, events that are also fully voiced and fun, as well as the endgame content that is very challenging but you feel a great sense of accomplishment after completing.

Every update the game has is always better and it feels like they truly listen to their playerbase which is something I love. You don’t see many games that listen to the players. I also love how I can easily finish my dailies in less than an hour and go do things in real life where other mobiles games have you literally grind all day just to stay even. There is no PvP in the game so there is really no competition and the stronger players are willing to help those clear harder content.

I can’t say enough good things about this game, and normally I am weary of 5 star reviews as they can be bought, but this is truly coming from someone who has never seen anything bad happen from an update after a year of playing the game.

If my expectations were going to Mars, they would be on Pluto now

I expected this game to be a Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy-like game with some extra features, but boy did I miscalculate! It still reminds me a lot of Dragon Quest however the story is very different from a lot of others in its genre, and the battle mechanics are a combination of Final Fantasy, Brave Frontier and the 3DS Pokémon games (because dragon pacts behave a lot like mega evolutions on a timer). You also eventually build a castle, read stories about your favorite teammates or dragons, and have the option to play co-op if that’s your kind of thing. I like several of the characters, the dragons have amazing designs, the mechanics for the most part is very smooth (I had to adjust the dodge swipe move), there are a lot of options to customize your game (including letting songs play with or without lyrics; something almost unheard of) and I didn’t want to put down the game the first time I played. Don’t let its looks judge wether or not to play it: if you like RPGs or dragons or building a collection of heroes, try it out!

This game is a joke

This game is p2p and even when you save your gems and do multi summon and get the rates to 5+% its still a joke to get something good. There is no rng game as worse than this game and even when you get a 5 star, you will probably just get a crap wyrmprint because this game has those useless thing at a higher rate and in the same gacha. Just a cash grab game and I will be amaze if it lasts a year. Stick to Fire Emblem and even FFBE who has it at 3% and is better than these fake rates. Gameplay is drawn out and repetitive and boring. I rerolled until I got a lily/leviathan combo which I do and even so its boring. I have even invested in the game cause I was like sure, I’ll do the starter bundles and some packages to show my support because they have to make money somehow. Yeah, I regret every single one of it as I did enough multi to get to 8+% before the banner switched and the percentage doesn’t even carry over like Dragon Project. This game won’t get any further investment and I would advise people to be wary until it removes wyrmprint from the gacha or at least make it its own gacha like Grand Summoner and have better rates or some guarantees with so many multi. I’m a gacha pro gamer and investor and this is by far the worst game ever. You can do better than this crap Nintendo. Shame on you. You lost a good supporter and consumer.

Still fun, but can get a tad repetitive

Before I start my review I think I should say that I have been playing since day 1 and was around for quite a few of the earliest events, I have also never spent a dime on this game. This game is a lot of fun but I feel the biggest problem with this game can be summed up in one word. Repetition. The events all feel copy pasted. Kill the raid boss, level up the new adventurer to keep them, upgrade the totem for buffs. And it extends beyond the events, after a while the daily grind of doing things takes it toll. And multiple times have I taken long breaks from the game. The campaign is also somewhat of a let down, very quickly I became far more powerful than anything the campaign could offer me, I lost interest in doing it both because of what I viewed as a not to engaging story, and a lack of challenge. Now this is not to say that I don’t enjoy this game, I do, i find the gameplay, art, music and characters to be absolutely terrific. And overall I have had a lot of fun with this game

So TL;DR game is fun, but has a problem with getting stale.
