Spend Stack: Budget Tracker Reviews

I really enjoy using Spend Stack and learned about it after listening to the Launched Podcast. It is an incredibly useful activity to monitor expenses and have special lists for different types of expenses. The UI is great, SpendStack is simple and intuitive and has already helped me out immensely. One thing I would like to suggest is the ability to split the cost between multiple people. For example, being able to use it to track shared bills if living with other people to see how much each person would have to pay for monthly rent. I track several shared expenses and right now I calculate it manually and put the number as a note to remember, but I think it would be a great option to be able to show split payments. I appreciate all the hard work of the developer and would love to see SpendStack continue to be a part of my daily workflow.

Spend stack is not simply just a list maker, it’s much, much more than that. It actually lets you know just “how much” you’re spending. Once you enter in an items cost; sales tax is applied automatically, so it takes the guesswork out of what your final bill will be. Use “tags,” and you can group all similar items together. The developer is continually making improvements, and now you can add a photo to items in case you might need it for your next shopping trip. In addition, lists and info. sync. across multiple devices making it even more handy. Customer service is excellent; questions get answered usually within 24 hours. All things considered, SpendStack. Is definitely worth having. I highly recommend it!

I’m still pretty new to SpendStack and I’m still discovering features—using weights for produce and discounts are nice features I’ve recently tried—but so far SpendStack is really powerful and easy to use. I might look like a dork using it in the store, but the truth is I struggle with mental math (esp. when sales tax, discounts, or quantity by weight are involved) so I’ve always just guessed at my running total while shopping—not ideal for keeping spending under control. My wife is a bit of a Luddite and is also very good at mental math, so we haven’t collaborated on a list yet (maybe someday) but for my own use, this is an excellent app.

With the latest update it’s super easy to import the Apple Card CSV file. I also find it tags purchases in the right categories during import for me. So much better than using a spreadsheet.

The recurring or subscription feature is also great. The only objection I had was that it didn’t sort the items in the list by date so I had to manually slide them in the order I wanted. I emailed the developer and apparently sorting lists is coming soon.

Overall this is an excellent app to use. It is well designed.

Converted over from EveryDollar. Was tired of the bloat and unused features, and slow updates. Spent hours looking for the right budgeting app. Am not thrilled to link my bank account since I like the privacy and the need to document every purchase myself. SPEND STACK answered all of my needs and more (hello dark mode and widgets)!

I’m eager to learn how much more in depth I can go. Do yourself the favor and buy SpendStack. The developer puts out lots of updates and is a class act (see his posts on Reddit).

Going through SpendStack it has potential with a bug here and there with graphs and all.

I would love to see some features added like multi tagging. Manual and per purchase tax rate for where you are at that moment you enter an item (very useful when living on a state line). And also linking so you can have a bills list and add or link a bill to your weekly or monthly spend tracking without needing to re-enter all info that is in an already made item in bills.

Out side of some suggestion ideas this has a possibility to be a great app that I’ll use a lot.

I think I download a budgeting app every other day and every time I delete it after a week because they’re either aesthetically unpleasant, lack of features, etc.

SpendStack really helped put it into perspective how much I spend. I absolutely love the tag system, it shows I spend way too much on clothes or eating out. Plus it just looks clean and pleasing to the eyes.

If it had a donate button, I’d chip in extra for how valuable it has become.

I am a first-time user, and I was excited to try SpendStack with the iOS 14 update; however, I can barely use it due to the amount of bugs I’ve encountered.

After importing my Apple Card purchases, I am constantly redirected to edit the individual items. Even after editing the purchases, SpendStack will keep asking me to edit the same purchase even though I’ve tried to include as much information as I can. When I click done, the same menu will pop up for the same purchase over and over.

I am willing to give this another shot, but for now I’m disappointed because the ratings/reviews do not match the product I’ve received.

I am so glad I found this!! I have been wanting a decent budgeting app for years and someone finally got it right. The lists make grocery trips suuuper easy and less stressful. Very user friendly and no bugs or glitches. I will be using this a long time. Well worth the 4.99! You won’t be disappointed. Managing my budget is a lot less stressful with SpendStack.

I searched for a budget app that would fit my needs, and I found Spend Stack. I’ve used it for more than a year and it has helped me keep my finances on track. Customer service is the best. Fast responses. Download SpendStack and give it a try. You won’t be sorry.

Everything is as advertised and works very well! Coming from a non-professional who just wants to keep track of my expenses, SpendStack was the simplest in terms of just keeping track of stuff.

HOWEVER: there is one “advice” that might be helpful: Make tags inside the lists organizable (i.e. can move new tags to the top of the list and so on).

My one request would be the ability to drag and drop the “+” button over the category/tag you want to add a new data entry for.

I don’t do ads. You’ve violated any trust I have in you. I know you have to make a living but this is not the right answer

Thanks to spend stack I now have my budget in control instead of the other way around! I have tried other budgeting tool before but they were too complicated . Spend Stack is easy to use and it works!

SpendStack is extremely easy to use. It looks great. It works great. The developer is very responsive to feedback. Being able to easily create categories of items that include sales tax and discounts is an awesome feature.

Update: amending review to update rating. They fixed the issue, however, I’m still removing one star for the subscription fatigue ptsd moment you’ve graced me with lol.

Yeah dude I didn’t pay for an app with ads and limitations. I paid for it with the promise of a certain feature set and user experience.

You can’t just go and change what I paid for AFTER the fact. Bait and switch is dirty.

I love how all these apps just screw the same people that made them popular by giving good ratings and sharing with friends, but alas greed always wins, who cares about early adopter loyalty, right?

Very thoughtfully made, smooth and easy to use, feature-rich in a way that is easy to understand. I will be using it for all of my budgeting in the future!

What a helpful app! It’s a really handy way to keep track of numerous lists, with or without tax- among devices and family members! If you’re looking for something that keeps a running total, SpendStack is a must! 🤩

SpendStack is a simple idea, and simple to use, but surfaces insights that were not obvious to me. It’s useful and helpful. Well worth the small cost, and more importantly, worth the time to use.

Spend Stack handy for shopping, for planning, for budgeting, etc. Developer friendly, responsive, makes updates regularly. The more I use SpendStack , the more I like it. Give it a try!
