Has potential despite the original intent

CapitolCall does the easy part of identifying your federal (not state) elected officials based on your current location or address that you type; 1 star for that. What it doesn't do is allow you to select legislative action centers (or capwiz or take action) for advocacy
groups of your choice. For example, one might want to see legislative action centers for the ACLU, NRA, or countless other advocacy groups. Instead, CapitolCall touts 'campaigns' created by 'sponsors' (individual left wingers or a token right winger.) Let's hope the developer takes the next step of tying CapitolCall into already existing professional advocacy groups of the users choice and makes it a five star app. CapitolCall should also allow you to set your personal political or issue preferences so one can focus on seeing what matters to you rather than what politically matters to the developer. From a press release he put out, it's clear he's politically biased but CapitolCall still has potential despite it's original intent to push left wing causes.

Thanks

Thank you for offering an awesome app that allows people to find their representatives information easily and readily contact them. I would like to suggest to look into utilizing the Sunlight Foundations’ data to possibly incorporate their voting history and campaign finances into a similar app? I always wanted an app like this to be available to people and now I guess I found it. Thanks again!

PS. I wish I could also suggest links/information that is missing from certain officials pages like their social media accounts and websites.

PPS - I’m a pretty conservative person and can realize that a community driven app like this is simply going to reflect the interests of those who choose to contribute. The most helpful part of CapitolCall is simply the geolocation god representatives and contact info presented in a simple way.

Not ready for prime time

I downloaded CapitolCall today and at first was impressed with the way it was setup. I quickly lost interest when simple functionality such as looking at representative information caused CapitolCall to grind to a screeching halt when you scroll down close to related news. It continued to spin while looking for news and wouldn’t let you go back or cancel it in any way other than to quit CapitolCall . I tried many different representatives and had the same result. This wasn’t a matter of waiting long enough for it to finish looking for the info. After 10 minutes(!), it was still searching when I gave up and closed CapitolCall . It simply shouldn’t take that long plus you should be permitted to cancel the search or at least go back a level.

Once the developer fixes this, I’ll reevaluate CapitolCall . Until they get a handle on it, I hope they’ll consider disabling this feature.

Start of something truly great

This is absolutely what America needs right now; a simple tool that helps you reach your lawmakers. We have become far too complacent and have let our institutions become stagnant, while also leaving them vulnerable to influence from moneyed forces.

You might not agree with the positions taken by most of the content supporters who are offering scripts. Great! That’s exactly the point; GET INVOLVED. Write your own scripts, encourage your group to submit theirs, just DO SOMETHING.

If you just one-starred CapitolCall and did nothing else, you are contributing to the problem of a do-nothing America. This is a truly great, simple tool in its infancy that can lead to something much greater. Freedom isn’t free, but CapitolCall is. Get it, and start calling!

Ignore the 1-star reviews

Great app that allows easy access to your representative’s contact information and nice scripts to follow if you want something to follow while contacting them. I had to put my address in manually, as the automatic lookup using my phone’s location didn’t work, but after that hiccup it was smooth sailing.

The 1-star reviews are extremely misguided and as of this review are outdated as the tea party patriots have a call to action on CapitolCall now. I’m extremely liberal, so while I hope that the viewpoints expressed within CapitolCall continue to expand I also hope the level of education shown by some of these conservative reviewers aren’t indicative of my future experience using CapitolCall.

Misleading Title

This application is analogous to purchasing a book about world religions, but which shrewdly attempts to argue that one religion is superior to the others.

Update: I have since downloaded the application for a second time, after receiving a response from the publisher of this application, in order to more carefully explore the functionality of CapitolCall. I have since found absolutely NO evidence that the creator of this application has given both Republicans and Democrats equal functionality.

In fact, under the “Take Action” tab, I found even more detrimental attacks at the President than I had previously seen. In the words of the author, “Donald Trump’s reckless behavior toward North Korea and his ill-informed statements...” The description goes on to disrespect the President several more times. This is only one of the 10 current (liberal) actions that one may perform.

Now I am speaking to the individual whom replied to my previous review. Not only does this application deserve one star, but you really should monitor the extent to which you are willing to lie to the anonymous. I understand that by attempting to suppress my my truthful review, you’re protecting the reputation of your liberal application. But Americans are smarter than you may think.

Great idea needs more voices

CapitolCall is a great idea and I think that it’s long overdue. However as many have commented, currently the contributors are overwhelmingly biased to the left and as such is not in its current state fully useful to conservatives and those of other views. I understand that the developers have been open about this issue and it’s mostly not their fault which is why I’ve rated it generously as a conservative/libertarian. In addition the function of access to our representatives is useful to all. When CapitolCall starts representing all views I will be happy to rate it a full five stars.

Partisan, like everything else these days...

Very impressive work and a wonderful idea. Kudos for working to get more people engaged in their government! Disappointing that CapitolCall , like everything else these days, pretty much supports one political party’s platform. As an informed independent who votes with her head on both sides of the aisle, the lack of options was sad, as well as frustrating. The developer’s response that the users are mostly left leaning (Democrat) makes sense and will continue to be the case, of course, because that’s what CapitolCall supports. If Capitol Call offered something to all Americans it might more closely live up to its own heady description and the mission the developer so clearly intended.

It almost perfect

But I’ve emailed before and will again we need to be able to see the voting history of our representatives in CapitolCall that'd really be able to spark change in the people who have CapitolCall.

I appreciate CapitolCall a ton for a few quick looks and refreshers but I always have to go look and see how my senators vote on important legislation ie Net Neutrality.

That way I believe it will really just bring transparency completely see what they say and do and then see how they actually act on those actions.

Awesome

It is a well needed app in my humble opinion, I recently had to study for my US Citizenship and was struggling to find out the names of us representatives. So if I had CapitolCall few weeks earlier it would have been very helpful but needless to say I still think it will come in very handy, because on several occasions I sent letters off, even call representatives on matters that affect my business and livelihood. Five star rating will follow when one can set the settings to ones own political views.

Good job on the Ap

Probably one of the better apps on my iPhone and one of the more useful. Thing is, there’s no way to change your settings. I realized I set the ap to the democratic side, but you should be aware of what the other side is doing as well. Maybe that’s in news choices. But I really like this ap. It’s going to save a lot of time when I want to phone my Congress person plus all the political news right there. Good job!!!

Such an amazing idea!

I can’t believe this wasn’t already an app! As a developer in training, I understand that it takes a while to build a diverse user base, and as a conservative, I’m happy to contribute my opinions and ideas to an app designed, not to push any agenda, but to help regular people with all different kinds of opinions and ideas reach their representatives.

Only by working together can we make a change, and CapitolCall is one step in the right direction!

Just in Time to Save Our Democracy!

Glad I found CapitolCall! When it’s not easy or convenient to get or continue to be involved in MY government - be it local, state, or federal - an app like this will be a time saver when it comes to voicing my concerns to my elected representatives in making sure they are focused on issues of concern to me and all their constituents they were elected to represent!

Many thanks to the developers of this very timely app!!

Super. Thanks

To a small team thanks for making an app to help amplify our voices and direct and encourage actions.
They pick right up and your script reminds us to give address etc. and possible language to use.
When phones call Congress listens.
We are not powerless unless we chose silence and inaction.
Thanks for listening to good suggestions. Can you crowd source to get funds to hire more folks or get volunteer students to help, etc.
Thanks for helping me be a good citizen!

New year. Time for more success to get out and protect the vote. Please make it so I can find others than my state representatives. Sometimes I want to write or call a committee chairman or other specific member. Thanks.
