The latest release of FBClassic is missing some key features the last version had. Why Freshbooks would remove the feature to add a new client right from your contacts baffles me. They also removed the feature to view a PDF version of an invoice or estimate right in FBClassic . Now instead of one click you have to share the PDF to yourself and then open it from your email or text app. This version is two steps backwards for me and I’ll be looking for alternative bookkeeping apps. When you’re charging me $30/mo I expect key features like this that make my job easier.

***COMPLETELY BROKEN AND UNUSABLE IN CURRENT STATE***

I went with Freshbooks over Quickbooks due to the former's ease of use, transparency regarding pricing, and—most importantly—frequent updates to the iOS application. I hope that the dev team will continue its steadfast support of both mobile and online platforms. Mobile use is of critical importance to my business, and Freshbooks has been a phenomenal tool. In fact, I prefer FBClassic to the website (which isn't really that bad).

EDIT 1: minus 1 star for two issues, the first being the inclusion of a link to my invoices instead of an attached PDF copy, and the second being one's inability to change the automatically generated Freshbooks closing, which is not as professional as I would like and does not contain my business' HTML signature. I have to send invoices from another mail app as a result.

EDIT 2: minus 1 star due to constant freezes since iOS 11 was introduced and a general lack of support, as FBClassic was last updated around 1 calendar year ago.

This version is still totally useless under iOS 11. As soon as you try to sync the projects view FBClassic freezes and fails. This has been present since the beginning of iOS 11, and despite today’s update, is still the case (even after uninstalling and reinstalling FBClassic ).

Super disappointing considering we have been freshbooks customers since the very beginning, and due to the fact that we simply utilize the entire platform we STILL have not been migrated to the new platform and have no access to the new features.

Bummer guys. Please help!!

From an invoicing perspective, the service is great. From a day-to-day perspective, it needs help. At least once a week after saving a time entry, I'll come back the next morning to start the clock and the old one is still sitting there saying it hadn't saved. I have to then save it again and go verify that it didn't get saved twice. It frequently does. I would have considered idempotency to be a critical feature in this case.

Then there's the situations where I get spontaneously prompted to reenter my password. Because FBClassic uses "magic links" to log on (this is just asking for a man in the middle attack), I don't have a password. When I enter it wrong, I have to spend time getting re-logged in. And if I happened to have a clock running on a time entry, this is lost. All of this adds stress and loss of time where I can least afford it.

While I STILL LOVE Freshbooks I really don't like the new version of the mobile app. It sends all invoices to me even though all of my clients are set up with their correct email addresses and mine does not appear as an option. Further I cannot access email addresses to add a new one on the mobile app. Last but not least I have to manually refresh FBClassic to get payments made to reflect. The previous version was great but I really,really hate the new version. Please fix it!

FBClassic has some minor flaws that I would like to see adjusted, but overall if you were in business this is FBClassic to have. I really like the expense part because it syncs with the online expenses, Which then you can print out in a P&L statement, space but you can keep track of all your profit and loss throughout the year.

You also have the ability to electronically send the customer a bill when you're standing right there at the job site.

.....save the convoluted complications in setting up a 'client' vs a 'project'. Other than the above I absolutely love FBClassic. It's simple and easy to master in every other way. FreshBooks provides clear, professional invoicing to our clients, handy time tracking from our iPhones and easy expense management for product- it's a life saver for my business.

FreshBooks is the best thing that has ever happened to my business. When I think now of time I have not billed or expenses I have not tracked in the past it makes me bang my head against the wall! FreshBooks has allowed me to keep my books for various entities, to easily invoice and offer easy payment options. The flexibility to charge different clients different rates for services has been invaluable. Expense tracking and bill-back has never been easier. Also the team is improving the solution all the time and is very open to customer feedback! I love FBClassic and service!!!!

My two requests would be: I wish FreshBooks would team up with shake to have a contract element also on the project.

I also wish there was a slightly easier way to indicate that a client has prepaid a portion of the work and bill against that. There is a work around that works just fine, and I can't imagine that feature isn't coming soon, so I'm excited for when it appears.

FreshBooks is such an easy and great program. My business is simple invoice and payment/changing and adding lines after partial payments are made and expenses. FBClassic and full website allow me to all of that super quickly and I don't have to do a bunch of accounting at the end of the year when tax time rolls around. I especially love the invoice pay through email option for my clients- it adds the percentage taken for running the credit card to your expenses automatically. Also, the card reader is awesome and actually reads the card after one swipe- not 5 swipes like a square reader. Love it! And great customer service.

Initially when i first started using FBClassic, i found it perhaps a bit too simple. However, now after 7 years of using it, i have found the simplicity to invaluable. We use it to track time on various projects, invoice clients, track billable expenses. It outputs data to quickbooks and reports of various types. There are more sophisticated types of apps out there but do you really need a lot more if you are a small business? I wished that contractors could have various task rates rather than just one and i hope Freshbooks is listening. Otherwise, it is a great all around time-tracking and invoicing app.

Update: I've been running FreshBooks for years and have yet to run into a problem. My favorite part? If I have a question or any concerns, there is ALWAYS a human on the other end of the phone to help. That, alone, makes this the best company to deal with!

Good job! It's clean, clear, and upbeat - just like the site. Everything looks and feels fluid.

I'm so glad you did this! Kudos to MiniBooks, but there hadn't been an update in forever. Now I feel like I am truly in touch with my FreshBooks account.

The Freshbooks platform as a whole is a dream. Very user friendly and lots of ways to save time with saving products, setting up recurring invoicing, and auto-import of expenses. FBClassic is also handy for time tracking and viewing invoices. I wish it included reports like the web version, but it's still pretty dang good even if those are better suited for the larger screen real estate of a laptop or desktop environment. Also, their support team is 💯!

So far so good.
Tracking income was the only thing that took some getting used to, but it makes sense to me now.
My only issue is that it hasn't been able to sync with my credit union checking account for importing transactions... but that's probably an issue on my credit union's end. To be fair, I haven't contacted them yet to troubleshoot it, so I won't take a star off my rating.
5/5, will recommend.

This has been one of the best app experiences I have had on mobile. I love FreshBooks on the desktop, and FBClassic makes it easy to manage expenses, invoices and other financial information related all from my phone. Support is awesome, they listen to my feedback and suggestions and are friendly and helpful. Other companies can use this as an example for their apps. Thank you!

This is my first review I have ever written, keep in mind I have downloaded thousands of apps. FBClassic is great. I have used it for my personal business for more than 2yrs. It keeps my expenses, earnings and it helps me with estimates. At the end of the year all I have to do is log in and print my balance sheet and all my yearly expenses and earning are right there. It makes my tax preparation much easier. 5 stars.
