****Update**** Mystery shorts is made by the same company and has the exact same questions but not nearly as many ads.
I deleted this game after they tried to FORCE me to give 5 stars for a hint. No. You do not earn 5 starts from me. It’s a one star game period. Too many ads. Too many grammatical and spelling errors. Some of the questions and answers don’t make sense.
For example, in the fourth mystery a man snatched a woman’s purse. The woman is in the right side of the street looking towards the car which is driving in the right side of the road. It gives you two vehicles to choose from to decide which car was the vehicle that stole from the woman. The car on the left has the steering wheel on the left side and the car on the right has the steering wheel on the right side. The car is driving down the street on the right side so you would think the correct car that stole her purse would have the steering wheel on the left but no. The correct answer was the car that has the steering wheel on the right side. It says the steering wheel would have to be on the right in order to snatch the purse from the woman since the woman was also on the right which does make sense but it also doesn’t. First of all, they don’t say that it was a drive by purse snatching. For all we know the man could’ve been on foot, stole her purse, and then hopped into a car and rode away. It kind of ruins the game when there are tricks like this.

I love these types of apps as much as the next person, but the functionality of PocketMysteryDetectiveGame made me lose my mind! Biggest problems I noticed:
1) Ads: There are way too many ads. I completely understand the importance of them, but I couldn’t even figure out how to remove them without sitting through a dozen ads. I was also more than willing to pay to remove them, but I couldn’t figure out where to purchase the ad block. The ads make all the other problems so much worse to deal with, as well.
2) Typos: for a puzzle game, word choice and grammar are incredibly important. If the game asks “where did he receive the wound?” I don’t know if the game is asking for the place on his body that bears the wound, the location on a map at which he was wounded, or if there was an error in formulating the question that would give a different answer altogether (this is also made more annoying by the number of ads that appear for an incorrect selection).
3) Margin of error: the game does not allow much room for error in selecting your choice. For instance, if I mean to tap a window, but I tap the curtain instead, the game does not allow me to correct my mistake before claiming I was incorrect.
I was unable to tolerate using PocketMysteryDetectiveGame for more than 30 minutes because of these problems. These would need to be fixed before I could fairly rate the game based on the actual quality of the puzzles.

Game looks cool but the ads are AWFUL. Like on TOP of your game where you can’t even play it or see the story / next steps. If I were you, I’d be ALL over whoever set the Ads up- because I guarantee MOST purchasers / players are just deleting your app and not taking the time to tell you the problem. Sorry for the one star... but I couldn’t even get past the first step without HUGE ads filling up the screen, covering game play and your tips and clues that were listed underneath.
This was NOT the small ad on the screen at the bottom of the game, and it was NOT a 5, 10, 15 or 30 sec pop up ad that showed up in between levels... this was multiple LARGE ads that popped up DURING game play, causing you to STOP and not able to continue the game... OR if you tried to tap on the BIG ad to reduce it or swipe it away, then your game pops up the answer or maybe a hint? I don’t know... and then you miss whatever the message or image was showing. Disappointing. But I wish you good luck! Maybe I’ll pick up your game after you have all the ads under control, because it looked clever. :)

Unfortunately, in a game with spelling errors, ambiguous wording, straight up incorrect answers, patronizing explanations, and a requirement to solve the crimes at the pace of the writers (even if you can understand what happened before they lead you to it), the amount of ads is completely unsustainable.
Clicking something correct can still bring up an ‘incorrect’ screen with a bonus ad. You get an ad (up to 30sec) both before AND after the explanation of something you really didn’t need explained, and if you figure it out early you get punished for tapping something that turns out to be correct on the next clue... but you’ll only find that out after four more ads. I was really excited for this game, too. Such a fun idea! I really wanted to love this, but it’s just so user unfriendly :(
Ad you have to close before you press start. Ads on the bottom of the screen while you look at the crime scene. Video ad if you click the correct answer. Video ad if you click an incorrect answer. Video ad before and after the explanation. Ad if you click restart investigation. Ad if you move on to the next one. Don’t worry though, you can buy an ad free version. Shocker.

When I started playing this, I’d say that it was pretty fun and enjoyable despite the ads. But as I got further into the cams, the less logical it became and the more buggy it became. There was one stage where I pressed the same spot a few times and it still said I was wrong. I gave up because I was tired of not being able to pass that level while ads pop up every 3 tries, actually.
I had to watch an ad to get the answer and guess what? It was where I had clicked more than one time already. Not only that, some of them have really some unreasonable details you have to pay really close attention too or else you can’t pass.
The game also gives you a little background before you start another round but sometimes, the answer has it’s own background knowledge that the game made up right on the spot! Like there was one where we had to pick the murderer which had a face for each suspect and when I clicked the right one, it said something along the lines “he started the fire because he’s a smoker.” JUST-HOW ARE WE SUPPOSE TO KNOW THAT?! Honestly!
I wouldn’t download this game if you’re planning to play it for a long time but it would work okay if it’s just like a 1-2 minute time passer. Other than that, it’s pretty useless and not worth it.

At first, this game was VERY fun and addicting. When I couldn’t solve a question, I used a clue. The clues were good, and whenever you asked for one it required you to watch an ad to get the clue. After that, it required you to rate the game. After THAT, is where it started to get disturbing. It asked me for a survey. It literally asked me “Do you sometimes get scared because you don’t remember if you turned the lights in your room on or off?” Considering this is a game about murder, this gave me the chills. Other questions were, “If your friend went missing, would you look for them?”, “ Would you date someone stunning but dress horribly?”, and “Do you like to kiss with your eyes closed?” This game is literally so creepy and I don’t recommend downloading it. It’s super disturbing and if you keep answering questions the questions might escalate and you might not even be safe. Please everyone don’t download this for your own safety. Any parents that see this delete this game. Thank you.

The game is good, sort of. There are a lot of grammar mistakes. Like I know we’re human and a few are going to pop up but they are all over the place. What really got me were the constant ads, like seriously? I get the whole “watch an ad to check the answer” thing but come on? They occurred waaaaaay too much. I would understand if there was an ad after you fully completed an investigation but the constant ads were so annoying. I’m just trying to kill time and instead of keeping my head empty it just filled me with annoyance and I ended up just deleting PocketMysteryDetectiveGame . The game it a good one if you don’t mind grammar mistakes and if you are fine with constant ads. Oh the game should also be allowed to play when offline, I lost connection while playing earlier and a message just kept popping up telling me I don’t have connection. I would click okay and then it was back.

Lost me early in the game at the end of the mystery on the purse snatcher in the car on the last question where you pick car A or B. The “correct” answer is B - supposedly because she said there was only one person in the car that snatched her purse and he would have had to reach out the right- hand window based on her location on the street. That places the steering while on the RIGHT side of the car. This is typically a European car then as US cars have steering wheels on the left. And the vast majority of locations where the steering wheel is on the right are where you drive in the left hand lane - not the right as in the US. But you can see in the drawing that the thief’s car is driving in the right lane and NOT in the left.
For a game that is supposed to be about observation and details, this was a deal breaker for me.

That will almost get you 3 stars from me from jump. But the questions make me want to bash my head in. “What’s out of place here” or which car also belongs to him -what that means half the time isn’t obvious. If I see right off that the thief on the motorcycle doesn’t have the handbag so he obviously passed it off to the driver in the car and it had to be the one car because of where the drive sits, it’s not like I don’t get the scene but technically neither car is his, he’s on the motorcycle. Then it makes it look like they want car a or car b. I click one. No. I click the second one no. I think I haven’t clicked in the right space. Only after resorting to a clue did it become clear I wasn’t wrong just 4 steps ahead. Now I am looking at a question about a hotel room and what’s out of place. I figure they mean the cigarette smoking in a room where it says in a big sign that’s forbidden. The cigarette and ashtray? No. The big no smoking sign? No. Another clue later and it’s “technically” “just” the ashtray.

I really enjoyed this game and one of my favorite parts was that you can get a clue without having to watch an ad (which was a relief, because this game just drowns you in ad’s.) But when you get farther into the game, it will ask you to rate the game to get the clue. It wasn’t completely unusual. I clicked on it and then clicked out (a trick you can use if you don’t want to rate it) and the game thinks you rated it and it gave me the clue, great! But after that, I wanted another clue for the next mystery. But then it asked me to take a “survey” and that I would remain anonymous. I was suspicious, but I did it. I will tell you, they are the most RANDOM QUESTIONS EVER! For those who haven’t gotten to the surveys yet, I am about to take a survey, here are the questions I have to answer: Are you picky when picking a partner, Have you ever had your partner as your lock screen on your phone, Do you pose for theme park ride photos, How was the first impression of your partner, Would you prefer a white umbrella or a black umbrella. They give you answers you can pick, like yes or no, bad or good, anything like that. But why do they need this information?? I deleted this game as my suspicions rised, but I would like to know why they ask us these!

First off, way too many ads. Each scene takes only a few seconds to complete, and they put ads after almost every scene. You spend more time watching the same two or three ads over and over than you do playing. That’s the deal breaker.
A smaller complaint is that a lot of the solutions require huge leaps of logic, while others are blindingly obvious. “What killed the victim?” could be either the ice pick sticking out of his head or a puddle of water on the floor that “clearly” indicates a bucket of fish must have fallen on him from off screen. “What was the motive?” could be literally anything. There’s one puzzle where the solution is “the victim was afraid of heights, so his four sons hoisted his bed of the floor while he was sleeping, knowing that he would be too afraid to get down, so he starved to death, then they lowered it back down before the police arrived.” I wish I were making that up.
You don’t lose lives or points or anything if you get it wrong, but the scene ends before you can take your next guess, which leaves you vulnerable to yet another ad. And it reduces what should be a logic puzzle to a guessing game.

This game is fun if you enjoy solving crimes scenes but it has major flaws that make it quite frustrating:
-Poor translation. The English doesn’t make sense at points and actually directs you to choose incorrect answers.
-Poor quality art for what is asked of you. Some of the challenges want you to identify something in the artwork that is nearly impossible to distinguish with the low level of detail in the image.
-Endless clicking. Every time you guess incorrectly, it takes you to a new screen that you have to click through, and then click through the challenge text again before you get back to the image.
-Obnoxious amount of ads. Probably every 2-3 guesses you have to wait for an ad to load, watch at least 8 seconds, click past it, then go to another ad screen for a few more seconds before you can get back.
-The clues are nice if you get stuck, but be aware you only get 1 or 2 free uses, then it requires you to share the game on social media for each clue you need. Quite annoying, but you can just share it to a private Pinterest board and at least you won’t bother your friends.

If there weren’t so many Ads. I’ve been on a crime kick lately and when I saw PocketMysteryDetectiveGame advertised I wanted to give it a try because who doesn’t want to try and be a detective solving crimes? BUT it is EXTREMELY frustrating when there is an Ad popping up almost every five seconds, and some of them you end up accidentally clicking on, without even realizing it, and taking you out of the Pocket Mystery app to download the advertised app. It almost takes out all of the fun of solving the crime puzzles. And I get that I can pay “x” amount of dollars to remove the ads, but let’s be honest, who actually pays to remove ads? Ads pay for PocketMysteryDetectiveGame . I don’t mind banner ads at the bottom of the screen, I don’t even mind ads popping up before and after each solved case puzzle, but ads popping up after ALMOST EVERY right or wrong guess for four questions is a bit ridiculous. Not only is it super annoying, it also throws you off trying to solve each case because instead of remembering parts of the case you already answered correctly or other bits of information, you’re completely bombarded and distracted by the ads causing you to forget the information at hand.
Other than that, the game is enjoyable and addictive, and I’m already halfway through all of the stages.

It’s very clear that whoever is writing the script for each case does not speak American English fluently nor do they understand the importance of correct spelling and grammar when investigating. I would like to see a change in the fact that whenever you want to refer to a previous questions you have to go through several ads as well as go all the way out and back in to the game only to have to do the same thing again if you answer the question wrong. I also feel that once you get to a certain point of the game the cases seem to get less creative and it begins to feel repetitive. Other than that I enjoy the game and am excited for new levels

Great idea, not greatly made. The graphics are nice and the way it functions is great. The mysteries make sense and every time you solve something it explains anything you might of not understood. The weird random eyes that pop up after you click things are strange and I feel like the result should be immediate instead of a delay. Also taking us to a new screen just to say it was incorrect is a tad annoying. I think just having the words incorrect pop up on the same screen would be nice. The hints give you a nudge in the right direction without giving away everything. Good game but still needs a bit of work. You feel like a real Sherlock Holmes with this game!

I absolutely love and adore this game! So many puzzles, so many cases to solve, and it’s helping me exercise my brain. I wish to see more of these because I just recently finished the game- or all the cases.
It’s a great game to help develop your thinking skills and it’s so fun! I love mystery that keeps my blood running and my heart racing; always eager to find out the answer to a crime! I get easily scared in horror and blood, but I love the suspense given in the genre!
I got extremely sad when I’ve reached the end... I was expecting a lot more cases but I was happy to finish such a beautifully and perfectly made game. Though literally most of them were just you seeing people get stabbed, death by blunt objects, and poison, it was fun finding answers to different stories and clues.
I hope there will be more updates soon because I can’t wait to play this game way more! Thank you for this amazing experience! It’s been years since I’ve last gave a 5-star rating to a game. Once again, THANK YOU <3!!!

It’s a fun game to train my brain, plus I love murder mystery detective riddles and stuff like that. I noticed that some people don’t like that is switches to a completely new screen after you answer correctly or incorrectly, but for me it adds a sense of suspense and I can’t really explain why. My only problem with it, (and I understand that you may not be American and are trying your best to translate) is that there are many typos in the questions so it’s sometimes hard to understand what is being asked, maybe if you can have someone proof read each question and correct grammatical errors, then it wouldn’t be a problem. All in all, it’s a fun game that I keep coming back to. I’ve downloaded this game 3 times and have yet to complete in it’s entirety but I plan on doing so this time. If possible, I would like to see more levels and frequent updates

This is a great game and I enjoy it very much, it doesn’t take very long to the point where I lose interest but not super easy and short. I love that there are different “levels” of difficulty, some answers are easier to find and some can take me a while, the diversity is nice. There isn’t anything I would change but I know some people might be annoyed by the eyes popping up after clicking on something or the separate screen for getting something incorrect but I have no problem with it, I think the eyes add a sort of character to it. This game was very fun and kept me entertained but I did eventually finish it and I check back to see if it ever updates with new mysteries but so far it hasn’t. Maybe add 1 or 2 new mysteries each week just so people can still play after finishing it.

The riddles are really thought out and challenging. I ended up using a lot of clues. Sure, some questions were obvious and easy, but this game was still fun! The only thing was that there’s too little levels. I really hope you add more soon, but I understand if you don’t. Some might disagree saying there’s too many ads, but doesn’t every free game have too many ads? Give the developers a break. Every time I look at negative reviews, it’s almost always just about the ads. Seriously, you should be used to the ads by now. Developers spend a lot of time and money on these games. They have to make a profit, it’s their job, isn’t it? Stop complaining when they put a lot of effort into their games, especially for games or apps like this.
by Ally Rae S.
One of the few times I’m giving an app 5 stars, but this game deserves it. The levels never repeat, and you can tell the devs put a lot of thought and time into creating an enjoyable experience. The only issue I have is with the hint button. Anytime I couldn’t figure something out, I’d hit the clue button which would take me to an ad (I have nothing against this at all). The issue is that sometimes I would never receive the hint, and I essentially watched the ad for nothing.
Other than that, this is still a great game, hence the 5 stars.

So I love this game and I wish there was a few things that could be fixed.. so first I wish there wasn’t a add after every question and I think you should make the words a little more clear here’s a example like on the golf one for the second question “There are many tall trees on the golf court but why did the lighting hit the golfer specifically? Why?” Like that makes no sense so I think they can be more clear and I think your the same person who made the game called “find the cheater” otherwise I love this game
