Still charged after failing to provide requested service

Unfortunately I would highly recommend NOT using this service. We moved to a new address and hadn’t set up a plow service yet when a snow storm hit. We had a bunch of people coming over for a party at 5:30pm so we tried to get a plow done that morning, hoping, but not necessarily expecting that they could get someone out in time. Our first email had a 5pm estimate so we were slightly hopeful. Unfortunately the time kept getting pushed back and later in the evening we get a call saying, “the crew we sent out only has shovels is that ok?”. We specifically clicked “plow required” as we have probably a 120ft driveway and 60ft of walkway so we said “no, that’s ok, we’ll just cancel.” At this point we weren’t unhappy, just bummed it didn’t work out this time but were open to using the service again in the future. We, apparently incorrectly, assumed they wouldn’t charge us since they weren’t able to provide the service we ordered/paid for. Why have a “plow required” button if it means nothing? When we requested a refund, assuming it was just an automated process that charged us, their response was that we could have had the shovel crew do the driveway even though it would have taken hours so it’s on us to pay for the service anyway. After a great deal of back and forth they flat out refused to issue a refund. I’m an incredibly reasonable person but just feel this was such a scam and feel completely taken advantage of.

BEWARE SCAM

Beware the good ratings are probably fake. I ordered service and picked a specific date and time. Service was ordered a day prior and confirmed by several contractors. The service came 2 days later. They gave me several excuses including that the storm caused the delay etc. I decided maybe it was a one time thing and I’ll try it again. So I ordered service for the second time again a day before and again it was confirmed and a time was given. Again the deadline was missed. I called the contractor he was a hour behind and again it was a lie and no service was provided. I contacted this app and was responded by “contact the contractor “” when I said that I did that they said that they would reach out to see where he’s at. I never heard back from anyone. Both the contractor and the this app are not responding. If this app is taking a cut from the price and the service was initiated through this app that makes this app legally responsible. Don’t waste your time and money on SnoHub as you may not get service for days or maybe no service at all. I’ll be contacting the better business and the FCC.

Disappearing contractors

I’ve used this app for a couple years, and at first it was great. This winter something has either gone wrong with the scheduling mechanism in SnoHub or they have shady contractors working for them. At least three times now I’ve requested service, notifications tell me my job has been picked up and by whom, I even get a text from the supposed provider saying they’re 10 minutes away from my house — and then they never show up. SnoHub tells me the job has been completed. When I contact this app to report my snow is still on the ground, they tell me the contractor marked the job as completed. Nope! Not so! They haven’t charged me for these times but it still doesn’t fix my problem, does it? The other times I’ve just rescheduled the work again - but last night was the last straw - I’m trying LawnGuru today. Started out as great convenient service - now it’s just a headache to work with - dad, because in theory it’s a great and much needed business idea.

Responsive service

I have Tried this service three times. The first time was wonderful! They were prompt, they were courteous, the charges were a little more than what I had expected, however there was a little bit more snow than we expected. The second time, I waited until the following day to get service! And then the service came at 9 o’clock at night. This third try, my request got picked up by one person and then dropped by him and then picked up by another person and since I had to be out of the house within 20 minutes, I ended up shoveling the snow anyhow. No I am waiting to see whether or not I get charged for this service that I didn’t get. If you need prompt service, I would not recommend it. ASAP means when they get around to it.

Not sure where the problem lies....

We were out of town. Snow storm on the way. I ordered the sidewalk to be shoveled after the snow stopped, which would be the next day. I received an immediate acceptance. And three other acceptance notifications each several hours apart from the same contractor. The next day, after the snow stopped, the contractor unreserved. The note says I may offer additional funds to get the job done. What?!? I didn’t pay additional money. I made other arrangements. Then hours after the unreserved notice I get an acceptance from the original contractor. I immediately cancelled the order as I had made other plans. The following day I get a note that the contractor didn’t see my cancellation, had already completed the job and they’d like to charge me. I feel like the contractor was trying to get extra funds. I agreed to pay half the original rate. I’m not sure I’d try it again. It seems like there needs to be some improvement in the system.

Horrible experience... shoveling and customer service

So so so disappointed! Really hoped this could have been a good thing, this service doesn’t have reliable professionals and customer service is sarcastic and has mean attitude! I was charged 90 dollars for a service! The snow removal was done subpar, entire side of the house was missed (we have a corner lot) and actual shoveling where it was completed with one width of shovel of snow shoveled! I asked the guy to comeback and complete the job but because he had good before and after pictures of the driveway customer service remarked that he was not obligated to do anything! I had to pay someone else to come and finish the job which was started! I wouldn’t recommend SnoHub or service! Go on your neighborhood Nextdoor app and post a request! People will gladly come and take care of your snow for so much cheaper and probably better quality!

I have had the app for a couple of weeks

I have had SnoHub for a couple of weeks as a snow clearing gig i often receive text that snow is on the way and to check it out on app to reserve some work my settings are set to look in 120 miles from my location in cottonwood utah and in park city utah I have been driving from the to places in the snow and my app map has not once showed me anything at all like not even a pin of where I'm at let alone anything else the developers could do a lot more than a blue tint map of the Area maybe
Some forecast information ? current temp and time ? and why not a little dot of where I'm at ?
I'm not sure that it is even working at least in Utah cuz if you're to open any map app remove all labels and put a blue filter over it that's
So using SnoHub is worthless The information worthless email I can't send after typing

Do not use!

I signed up for this app because we were supposed to get 8 inches of snow and my snowblower wasn’t working. SnoHub has issues. I couldn’t figure out a way to request service for a future storm, so I waited until the storm started to place my order. I wanted to request snow removal by 9 am the next morning but it kept showing 12:10 am. I immediately had someone commit to take my order. Snow stopped before daylight, with only 4-5 inches of snow. By 1:30 pm, no one showed up so I canceled the provider. Another one immediately accepted. By 4:00 pm, no one showed up so I tried to cancel my order.

If you cancel because no one shows up, you still have to pay the service!! That’s $65 for nothing, roughly twice the rate I would pay for a routine service.

Poor customer service, you can’t reach them by phone, they require you to text. Buyer beware!

Garage Snow

Everything went fairly well. I ordered snow removal after snow stopped. Received email crew would arrive about 7:50 PM. They arrived about 10 minutes early which was fine. Couldn’t enter all detail of needs on screen, so told to enter in typed area. I asked that small area behind garage adjacent to alley be cleared. This AM went out to find foot of snow behind garage door which my husband & I cleaned. Don’t know if they forgot or didn’t get message but was a bit of a challenge for us. Everything else fast & well done. Think my charge included that part not done. Also this AM, had 3 emails w/people accepting job I never ordered. Luckily was able to cancel.

Price Outrageous, No Service

I requested a plow at 9:30am on the day after a major snowfall and received notification that a plow would come between 12-2pm. I was quoted $164. This driver cancelled the job. Another driver picked it up and was supposed to come by 6:30pm. It is now 9pm and no driver arrived nor was I contacted until just now when I received a text stating that the snow levels have increased by 7 inches throughout the day and the new price is $311. This is absolutely false, as there was LESS THAN ONE INCH of accumulation at my home today. I understand that plow drivers are working hard to get these jobs done. However this price is absolutely outrageously criminal and the claim about additional snow accumulation is absolutely false. I am so disappointed by this service. I had high hopes.

Fantastic job!!!!!

We are new homeowners and were out of town when this massive storm hit. We had no idea how to find anyone to do this colossal job and it was important the job be taken care of ASAP since there is a bus stop in front of our home. We placed an order on this app and a contractor accepted the job within 45 minutes. The job was completed within an hour. They took excellent before and after pictures. The oversized driveway, long sidewalks and walkway were professionally cleared. It gave us peace of mind that the job was done promptly. Kudos to our contractor!! Thank you this app!

Snow dad

First time ordering and might be my last. So my order went through and I waited. The price is pricey but the service could make up for it. After 45minutes waiting I called the number and got no response. After 2hrs waiting I got a response. I explain this was my first time ordering and I didn’t know how this works. I have been waiting 2hrs and didn’t know what time he was scheduled to come. The guy responded that he has 75 people ahead of me and it’s a snow storm. The guy then explain he doesn’t know what SnoHub shows on my end but he put in SnoHub 4:30pm. So I said to him I see, an that would mean I have one more hour to wait. I thank him and cancelled. Great Idea just needs more marketing I am sure people need the work and the money.

Great app for contractors!!

I just signed up as a plow contractor through this app. I plowed 3 driveways so far. Makes you take a picture before and after plowing to guarantee it has been completed. Directions and special requests are clearly stated. Honestly can’t complain. I was 5 minutes early to each job, however, I know that’s not usually the case which is unfortunate. All in all, great app and service! Thanks this app!

UPDATE: I used this app about a dozen times throughout last winter. I will be using them again this year!!! Don’t wait, sign up now and make that side money!!!

Mostly works

Have used SnoHub a few times when I was out of town and did not want to get ticketed. SnoHub itself can be a little buggy but my snow has always been cleared eventually. Sometimes have to wait till the next day but price is reasonable. One time when I had a problem, customer service was helpful and it eventually got resolved. I think experiences may vary depending on where people live and how many contractors are signed up in the area. It has worked out ok for me in Boston

Useful service

Generally the application is easy to use. We travel a lot so I like the before and after images. The completion confirmation process is easy. My only complaint is the Apple Pay function did not work. It was a known application fault, but the application provide no useful clue. I was left to check all my settings, call my credit card company and eventually contacting Snowhub. I had to Google them because the application does not provide a support number. In the end, I had to add another credit card and not link it to Apple Pay.

No Show

Although I requested service3 days in advance, I had 5 this app people “unreserve” plowing of my drive. I’m not sure how to get device from this app.

this app responded to my concern. They suggested I add $20 to the price they originally gave me for the work. The words “bait and switch” and”scam” come to mind. I guess that is their business model.

Tried to use this service again. Requested service 2 days ahead of time. After the usual round of “reserve” & “unreserve” the job was accepted. I got one email from the provider giving me the time for the work: they didn’t come as promised. I talked with this app twice on the phone and received promises that the work would be done: they did not come as promised. Time to remove SnoHub. I recommend you do the same.

Fantastic!!!

I had a wonderful experience! I scheduled to have someone clean the bottom half of our driveway as we had a car parked at the top of the driveway. The contractor was late so I called him and he explained he was having equipment problems with the plow. True to his word, he came later in the afternoon and cleaned the bottom half. I left to go out soon after and when I got back the top half of the driveway as well as the walkway were cleaned!!! Thank you to whomever did the work!!! It was very much appreciated!!!!

Vendor management is poor

Contractor responded and completed top quality work. No complaints about the contractor, all positive and I would recommend.

The vendor/supplier however is questionable. I paid premium (double) to request a specific time frame for the service. This info was not communicated to the contractor who diligently drove through a snow storm to complete the assignment, not his fault, but 14 hours before the premium service time slot I selected and paid for - post snow storm.

Vendor acknowledged my compliments to the contractor but not my overcharged service and timing issue. I saw previous posts about issues with SnoHub and concur.

In follow up to my original post, the vendor sent a description of how they problem solve discrepancies. Solutions include adjustment of charges, multiple visits during a storm if a contractor starts earlier than the premium selected time, etc. All sounded reasonable. None of these solutions occurred in my case and several days after service I was charged the full premium charge.

Mediocre

I’m a snow removal contractor, SnoHub works, but I have two issues with SnoHub . There are not a ton of jobs in my area (Nortrhern NJ.) Second the pricing isn’t competitive enough to pull me away from my route, I think this is partly because it’s an affluent area. SnoHub is more suited for younger students/kids to make a quick buck, you won’t get many quality professional contractors. There’s just so much to account for when pricing a job, inclines, places to put the snow. I’ll keep checking SnoHub when doing my routes but have yet to take a job.

Worked Well

Easy to use. Prices seem lower than when I looked at it last year . We were out of town during the recent snow storm so this made it easy to schedule service ... and pay without being in the area. I was sent several updates with each step of the process. Contractor did a great job and before and after pics were sent so I knew I would come home to a plowed driveway. Worked well for me!!
