4.5 out of 5

An incredible disappointment.

2024-11-17

I bought this because I liked the idea of subtasks, but it’s honestly a useless app because adding tasks leaves your home screen blank unless it is currently due. So if you add three tasks to complete by tomorrow night, you won’t see them unless you navigate to the “see all tasks pane” - which defeats the purpose to me. Literally any other free task app is more useful than this. I’m going to ask for a refund because my money would be better spent on one of those claw vending machines. Even if I get nothing, the experience would still be worth more than Doo.

Disappointing

2024-11-17

I bought this because of the snooze feature, and it’s not at all what I expected. “Customize your snooze duration”: Three predefined options is not customization. I want to setup my own times. It also doesn’t make sense that I can only snooze it for the set time. On Windows Phone calendar, the notification came on the screen, and I was given the option to snooze that reminder for one of several time options. Maybe I’m almost done with something and I just need five more minutes. Maybe I got caught up with something else and I need another hour. I also take issue with being required to enable notifications in order to start using Doo . What if I just wanted to use this as a task organizer? Also, why do I need to enable my current location in order to set a location for a task? Why do you need to know where I am? Why do I need to give an address? Why can’t I just say “mom’s house”? I know where that is. Using the native date picker for setting a date isn’t great either, as it makes it complicated to set tasks for following years, later in the year, or if I need to visually see

Good design overall, though. I like the cards, and at least the snooze works. Without that snooze feature though, this just doesn’t do enough for me to differentiate it from any of the other task manager apps I’ve tried.

Beautiful interface but...

2024-11-17

The reason for 3 stars is because I truly wanted Doo to work in terms of experience. And I paid $4.99. It has a beautiful UI which makes it pleasing and enjoyable to use. I’ve used other reminders on the market, but nothing balances craft and simplicity like this app.

With that said, I find it very odd that by default it lands me to a blank view. It would be more intuitive if I could see the “All Reminders” view instead to give me context on what’s coming up and what I’ve missed in one place. And secondly, I can’t see the details or notes of an upcoming event unless I tap on edit. What the heck is that nonsense? Why can’t the card expand when I tap on it to reveal my notes? I’m comparing this to iOS’ default reminder app. Hate the interface but functions properly.

Please fix the experience. It’s almost there. ALMOST FOR GOODNESS SAKE! I’ve been searching and using a lot of reminder apps as I depend on them for my daily tasks. this app is the closest to what I need.

Good App

2024-11-17

Overall it is a dependable app and easy to use. I would like to see more user choices, like being able to select different colors for each to do. I would also like to be able to select different a emoji for a given task. A color selection for a given task would be the most important! It is just a basic app, not worth what I paid! Google Keep competes with Doo and has more options, try both! I am using both at present time to see which app works out in the long run.

Please fix it!

2024-11-17

I love this app and I’ve been using it for several months. It is a great app and I absolutely love it. But there are some problems waiting to be fixed: 1. The list won’t refresh itself after I choose “complete”... every time I choose “complete”, the item is still there and it won’t go to the completed list... I have to refresh the page manually.... 2. I don’t think the list can sync to my Apple Watch very smoothly.... it won’t sync itself and I have to open Doo on my watch to get it sync.... 3. I use this app on my iPad, iPhone, Apple Watch, and Mac.... I like the fact that I can access this app on all those devices using iCloud, but there is always a delay.... For example, if I choose “complete” for an item on my iPhone, my iPad and Mac will still remind me that I have not completed......
I hope you can make this app better! Thank you for making this wonderful app. I’m looking forward to see the update!

Best to do app for getting things done, could use one more feature

2024-11-17

This is without a doubt the best gtd app for me, despite its lack of traditional to do list features like tags or contexts or project organization.

Doo forces you to think about WHEN you will get something done, and presents you with one item to work through at a time. For whatever reason this motivates my lizard brain to actually do it, and put off less important work for later.

The only thing I don't like about it is the way it handles repeating location tasks. Why would I want to do something immediately at a certain place? It feels somewhat useless to me. I wish one could combine the where and when features of Doo without relying on snoozing.

I also really wish there were a way to better organize your tasks: I like to think about the next actions I need to do for particular projects at once, and being able to group them by project, even if when only viewing them as a list, would make me feel more secure about my progress on projects. That's really the major problem with Doo: it gets me to do things, which is the most important thing period, but it doesn't provide the security that I'm not missing something I need to do like more traditional to do list/gtd apps like Things or OmniFocus accomplishes.

A little ways to go

2024-11-17

I really like Doo . I enjoy using it more on my iPad than on my phone as I also get to see the additional calendar. The design is beautiful, which makes using Doo even more enjoyable. That being said, it still needs some work.

I’d really like to be able to label my cards. I’d like to be able to have cards for work, home, errands, etc. Just something as simple as a dot in the corner that is color coordinated to the task I set it to be. Having something like that would allow me to more easily see at a glance what I need to tackle today and what I can snooze.

It’d be great to see the calendar on the iPhone version. Even better if the calendar reflected labeled cards.

Finally, sometimes I find toggling to the second page to be a bit odd. I understand that I’ve snoozed my two tasks for today until tomorrow, but having one page dedicated to “All Clear” and “+ add a new reminder below” seems a bit odd to me. I keep looking for a way to scroll past those prompts and see the items I’ve snoozed for tomorrow. Just a thought.

I really do love Doo . I want to use it for more things. The checklist functionality is a must have for me. I’d LOVE to be able to have the labels. It’d help me use it more in my work rather than just an errand task manager.

Pretty good - but missing something

2024-11-17

Like the other reviews stated, it’s a decent app, but it’s missing something. Personally I would like to set my custom snooze time intervals and set that customized amount as a default (rather than the force bypass - don’t get me wrong I enjoy the force bypass, but rather have that availability for default snooze times).

I feel like the developer could add a “deck”/“stack” feature that groups similar cards together inside the main stack of cards (kind of like a sub folder inside the main folder). This would help organize my cards that have similar qualities/functions/purpose.

For example, I walk my dog/feed/refill his bowl/etc everyday. Having these similar cards grouped together like a deck of cards would be amazing! I know I could always use the checklist feature to divide these tasks inside one card, but I prefer to use a separate card for each task to visualize everything. It could also help a lot when achieving a series of items at once (example: Going for a walk, record walk, record weight, write in journal).

I bought this because I know Doo has potential. Although I’m waiting to see what other features are added before jumping on to the MacOS version.

Great but a few suggestions

2024-11-17

I love Doo! Very easy to use and a fun, flowing ui.

Things I’d want to add is when swiping through cards and you accidentally swipe past one, swipe the opposite direction to have it come back to the front of the deck. Too many times when I have a lot of cards and I accidentally swipe past it I swipe the other way just out of habit and it doesn’t pop up. Then I have to keep swiping to get back to it or use the overview feature.
Another thing would be to have a repeating card that could repeat everyday at a certain day so I don’t have to make a new card everyday for when I complete the task.

Generally I like it.

2024-11-17

This is a well thought out, well designed app. The process of using it takes a bit of getting used to. I used to have post it notes all over my desk, and sort through them to do what was next. Some with a deadline, some without. This has totally replaced that mess across the top of my desk blotter, to the point co-workers coming into my office and seeing no post its ask: ”you done with everything?”. And now my notes are with me when I leave the office.

Great user experience lends itself to repeated use

2024-11-17

I'm a productivity junkie (have downloaded and paid for so many to-do list / project management / life organization apps) and this is definitely a new favorite of mine. The only thing I feel is missing (personally) is the ability to share to-dos between other users. My partner and I would love to be able to create to-dos and send them back and forth and maybe have a shared stack somehow. Otherwise, so far, so great!

PS UX team thank you for melding great aesthetic design, modern card based UI with actual USABILITY, y'all killed it ◠‿◠

Much more helpful than I initially thought

2024-11-17

this app is a really helpful reminders app and has replaced my other reminder apps that always seemed either overly complicated and tedious to use, or were limited in some way.

The card interface really works with my brain too. It forces me to see everthing that I have to remember iin a a non-list format. I see lists everywhere in my life an it becomes easy to ignore them where I need to read each card quickyl in this app.

The interface is easy to use and super fast to add reminders. It looks great and I is super helpful to have the MacOs version on my Mac too. It would be great if there were Siri integration someday and URL schemes to add reminders.

In addition, this app has both nagging reminders and checklists which are indespensible to me. In the future, it would be great to be able to choose the length of time for the nagging reminders.
✌🏻

Refreshing alternative

2024-11-17

* Bug with checklists — when editing you lose visual of the item you are editing under certain conditions.
# Some features/enhancements that would be nice to see ...
* Manual sort (drag and drop) of checklist items.
* Calendar integration.
* More card picture choices (and a place to view what they each look like along with corresponding emojis that grab them in the task title).
* Hyperlink should work for call back urls in Note area. I.e., [ulysses://x-callback-url/open?id= ]
* Dark mode.
* Inbox (or “later/someday”) for non-dated tasks that you don't want on your Today stack and don't necessarily want to snooze them until a particular day/time (which will give release the need to snooze so many todos each day, those that pile up in the “Tomorrow List,” and get automatically added to your stack the next day).

Clever, well thought out

2024-11-17

I've been looking for a good habit tracking app and came across this one. Am struck by how nicely Doo is put together and thought through. Wasn't looking for a task-managing to do style app but decided to give it a try. So far so good. I will check in again after I have used it for more time. Aside from the design and app experience, what sold me was the regularity of the updates and the clear responsiveness of the developer. Always excellent to see!

iPhone to Mac Syncing

2024-11-17

I've recently been having many issues with the completed reminders syncing. When I mark them as done on my laptop, I'll have to go through and mark them done on my phone. Even hours later with both devices open and on wifi, it really doesn't take care of this. Annoying
