About VerificaC19

What is VerificaC19?

Verification C19 is an official app of the Italian government developed by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with other ministries to enable operators to verify the validity and authenticity of COVID-19 Green Certificates issued by Italy National DGC Platform of the Ministry of Health and by the other Member States of the European Union. The app is developed and released in full compliance with the protection of the user's personal data and current legislation.

Features

- Allows operators to verify the validity of COVID-19 green certifications and "EU Digital COVID Certificates" by reading the certificate QR code.

- Does not store or communicate the scanned information to third parties.

- Performs the verification in offline mode.

- Accesses the backend of the DGC national platform at least once a day to verify the certificate authenticity.

- Workflow is divided into three phases: reading the QR code, verifying the authenticity using the public key, and showing the main information.

- Shows the name, surname, date of birth, unique identifier, and validity of the certificate.

- Verifies the certificate against the decoded date information and the Italian rules for COVID-19 green certifications.

- Allows the person in charge to visually check the correspondence of the personal data of the holder shown by the VerificationC19 app and certificate holder ID card.

Not ready for us traveler

Can people from the US stop giving VerificaC19 a one star. This is for Italian citizens to use and not intended for US citizens. The European Union is working on adding other countries. VerificaC19 was created by Italy for Italian citizens only so unless you are an Italian citizen do not download VerificaC19 as it will not work for you at the moment. Maybe in the future it will but as of August 6,2021 it doesn’t and it doesn’t look like it will for the foreseeable future.

The other one stars

The reason why US people are giving one stars is because the Italian Embassy in US had been saying (and still states) that US vaccine cards are accepted in Italy and that codes like vSafe, Excelsior, etc. are good in Italy. I landed in Milan on Aug 30 and as of today, Sep 3, no one is validating any vaccine or pcr testing info I carry. It’s unfortunate that the one star looks bad for VerificaC19 developer but it’s to prompt attention to misinformation spread by the useless Italian embassies and consulates in US (I am an Italian become US citizen and alway had troubles). On the other hand, Italians do not have any of these issues coming to US…

I was not able to read or use the app in English

It does not have an English tab and I was not able to use VerificaC19 in English. Everything was in Italian

Works well with Italian Green Pass

It does not read US QR codes. If you have a US pass you can obtain an Italian Green Pass by applying for it. You can apply on the web from anywhere and you will receive it within a month (should be shorter now). Once you have the Italian Green Pass, VerificaC19 will work to read it.

Does not work with other EU Certificates

I have a French certificate VerificaC19 says it is not valid. Other EU pass scanners all five the green pass screen, but as usual, italy is behind the curve and make things more difficult

Indiscrimination app

VerificaC19 indiscriminate people on a base of this pass. This was used during Nazism in Italy. Not tolerable. Shame on Apple to carry and support this type of applications!!!

Does not work for US NY QR
