Star Walk Kids: Astronomy Game Reviews

StarWalkKids keeps you on a linear path where you have to learn about each space object before it is unlocked in the observatory. I am a science teacher and hoped this would be a good addition to my first grade space curriculum, but it doesn’t allow for free exploration until the kid has spent a lot of time listening to the mandatory content. I downloaded a different app that was aimed at adult stargazers - its controls aren’t as kid-friendly but it lets the user actually explore.

I had a ton of problems with StarWalkKids when it first loaded but those issues have since been resolved. Vito Technology was extremely helpful and timely with a solution.

My kids love StarWalkKids. It’s easy to navigate, fun to watch and interact with and has a ton of great information.

I’m a STEM teacher and I’m definitely going to convince my district to purchase this for our iPads at school. It has great activities to let students explore at a level they can understand. A lot of fun!

Please add more activities soon! More constellation information would be great!

This is super cool I had been learning so much about space it was so fun even learning about the solar system. It was very cool and fun. I would like more things in there because I never want it to end!!

My daughter and I are stuck on the Hubble Telescope on the exploration map. We have no options to continue and are unable to journey to the next locked item.
Also, when we select settings, we are asked to solve a math problem, but are unable to continue by tapping “Restore”.

Help!

I downloaded this with some trepidation, knowing that my toddler already likes the adult version. It took him about 20 minutes to watch all the videos, and after that he got angry because there weren't any more.

I'd really like some videos about things like the seasons, the phases of the moon, tides, and such.

What a junk app, especially compared to the company’s other astronomy apps. StarWalkKids crashes all the time, has non-functional areas, and no updates to fix these issues - it feels like it was never tested prior to release. Cute graphics suitable for kids but poor programming and support make it beyond useless. DO NOT purchase this! Installed on 6s.

There’s something missing in StarWalkKids and that would be the Kuiper belt and the exoplanets so can you add them please

I was hoping the bad reviews from years ago were old news but to my dismay I cannot get sound on StarWalkKids no matter what i do. Reboot, delete, reinstall, reboot. Blah. What a bummer. My son is crying because he was excited and is only 2 and doesn’t understand hardware malfunctions. Such is life.

Cute and engaging. Was made to rate before I could go any further to use more features so will update rating once I can see what else it offers.

Good learning, nice linear path. Good amount of info for an evening of learning. Easy to function. Quizzes are a perfect touch. Kid loves it.

Very confusing how to navigate. I.e. can’t find the one graphic that shows all the planets relative in size that I used to get.

My 6 year old son completed it in one day and now he’s bored he likes the videos and the cow but needs a update.

I bought StarWalkKids for my daughter so she can learn but there is no sound! I have tried to reboot, max the volume in the set up, etc but nothing worked!!! Wasted my money. Not very interesting just looking at pictures with no sound!!

App will go through opening video sequence, but crashes after about 30 seconds. StarWalkKids Store says it has been updated with bug fixes, but it continues to crash.

StarWalkKids is a big let down, should have known that since it’s a game for kids. I’ve had allot better night sky apps for free, I don’t recommend it

I don’t play this anymore but I love it so I give it a three star I like the quiz’s

It has taught him so much. He sounds like an astronomy genius (to me). Lol

Sound does not work on iPad despite multiple attempts to fix the issue.

Will not load. Link to developer website does not work. No customer support. Don't waste your money.

App has no audio and is clunky overall

My son was obsessed with this. But now it’s updated with compulsory viewing cow cartoons. We can’t get the content. Such a sad loss.

Not kid friendly- not easy to locate what you are looking at - waste of money

Sound dosen’t work. Long video introduction everytime you open StarWalkKids . Not worth it

Loaded app and sound does not work. I purchased the a bundle and most are without sound. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY..
