I’ve had the Pronto IR blaster for years. But silly me for forgetting to disable automatic app updates. My app updated and now it rendered the IR blaster USELESS! I have a freaking brick. This is extremely unprofessional that they did not at least notify their customers that they’d be nixing the IR blaster and won’t do support for the remote anymore. That would have made the bandaid removal feel a little better.

But they “announce” it in the most sneakiest way: changing PeelTVGuide completely and leave customer wondering what happened, with no response from customer service.

Stay away from them, not even this TV guide app is worthy of a download. This company is completely despicable.

Previous version had the remote but not the guide. The 3.0 update restored the guide but broke the remote which is the primary function I depend on with the Pronto IR blaster I bought for it. I’d give it one star but I still expect them to fix it by the next .0.1 update. If it’s not forthcoming in the next couple weeks, I’ll probably remove that extra star. If they do restore it, I’ll probably add a couple. Fix this quick, Peel. I’d like my remote back.
Update: the new patch did absolutely nothing to restore the remote function. Removing a star per my original review.

Why did the developer release an update that was forced onto us users by Apple that renders our perfectly working IR-blaster useless?

I’ve sent countless emails to the developer website but no response.

Hey Apple! If you really want to avoid a class action lawsuit you should really try to get this resolved with your developer, or roll back PeelTVGuide so we can use the external IR blaster it was intended.

It’s like I bought a Chevy and one day a software update gets loaded automatically by Chevy because it’s an improvement but suddenly my radio doesn’t even come on anymore. I talk to the radio vendor but they don’t respond. So I complain to Chevy but they just say it’s all on the radio vendor. I have no recourse.

I have permanently turned off all updates for fear this may happen again to any one of my other apps I use.

When the dev took away The TV guide I thought PeelTVGuide couldn’t get any worse, but to my surprise the newest update has the guide, but now it doesn’t let you control anything with the Pronto ir blaster I bought from Peel. Not sure what kind of games this dev is playing with its customers, please just get this working with the TV guide and ir remote again. If anyone else has purchased the Pronto by Peel technologies, we should start a class-action lawsuit against this Developer for not supporting their device.

This used to be a 4/5 star application, but ever since updating PeelTVGuide the remote has trouble connecting to the phone and often stops working with my devices. Oh and if that isn’t bad enough, the only way to add a new room now is to select a TV service provider. This is absolutely ridiculous and impractical. What idiot thought that any of these changes would be a good idea SMH. I would absolutely rate PeelTVGuide 0/5 stars, but they don’t give you the option. 1/5 it is I guess..

PeelTVGuide has not worked as when I first purchased it. It all started about 5 versions back. 1st it disabled Channel Master support. Then it disabled 2 Peel app devices connected it at once. Now everything is disabled and instead renamed itself to TVguide. The purpose of buying the Peel app is worthless since now it’s just a TVguide app and not even a good one at all. Apple Support please let us download the 5th version previous to this one and remove the developer

I was very happy using this product, but this recent update to 3.0 broke the remote function. I can no longer drop down the room on the top row to select.

Did the developers test the product thoroughly before releasing it? In their haste to introduce a new feature they broke the more important remote feature that is why many people use this product.

Please fix quickly. Anyone listening?

The purpose of buying your Peel device is because it was a remote control, after one of your update your technicians failed to keep up with the function of the device which is precisely: a remote control. Now is useless, and I hope you reimburse the purchase of the Peel device, or better yet, hope your technicians are smart enough to restore it.

So glad I held off updating PeelTVGuide. Since it had been so long since there was an update, I wasn’t sure if it would screw it up and apparently it did. I thought Peel had abandoned this device altogether but fortunately it continued to work. When it works, it’s fantastic! Perhaps there’s hope it will be fixed.

The only reason I used PeelTVGuide was because I had the pronto IR Blaster and could control multiple IR devices in a room with my phone. Since the last update I have not been able to use the remote IR Blaster from my iphone. I think it is horrible how the company sells a product and then discontinues the software for it making it useless.

I am livid. Just downloaded the most recent version of PeelTVGuide . Now I cannot access the 3 peel modules that I have in my bedroom, living room, and family room. This was a great product before I lost the ability to control other devices in my entertainment consortium. Peel needs to return to the previous version of PeelTVGuide because this version is ridiculous.

The Pronto IR blaster product relied solely on PeelTVGuide to work. With the new update the IR blaster like the other comments has become completely useless. Why would Peel completely sever the apps ability to work with Pronto without letting its users know this was going to happen!! Now I have a useless piece of tech because peel was the only app that worked with Pronto. Unacceptable I want my money back.

The update got it working again until it gets broken. I gave one Star before and now have improved on it. Because the took months to fix it I cannot give higher.
What happened to the TV guide part of PeelTVGuide . Back to one star again the broke it with TV guide update. I bought a Harmony from Logitech I’m done trying to make this work

I have 2 Pronto IR blasters that worked great with PeelTVGuide, but this approved update broke that after I tried to switch between the 2 devices. The “settings” are stuck on “support” and there is no way to get off that screen back to where settings changes can actually be made.

Is there any hope this approved will ever be updated and fixed?

My peel remote is now useless. Why do I need a TV guide??? I would give 0 stars if I could. Based on other reviewers I’m not even going to go through the trouble to contact them. Please don’t download this useless app. Had I know the update would do this I wouldn’t have updated it :( BTW I NEVER write reviews so you can imagine how upset this made me.

For me, the pronto remote does show up as a little yellow tab. However, for it to work I need to force quit the application. After I re-open up the application, the Pronto remote seems to work OK.

Like others, I really do not have a use for a TV Guide. It just means another screen you have to click through to get to the remote.

Worked great before the update now I can’t connect by Bluetooth. I was able to connect using firmware updated app and install the latest firmware but that still did not help. Please make the old app available until this can be fixed.

I wish I could give this version less than a one star. The last version was great, but now that it will no longer support the IR smart remote I no longer have a need to use PeelTVGuide and I am out the money for the IR unit. I have a guide built in to my tv so why would I open an app to view a guide? Dumb...

Downloading PeelTVGuide essentially bricked the two IR blasters I was using to control my home theater.

There is no remote attached to PeelTVGuide . Hence no ability to access them. It’s beyond worthless.

Like others here, the only reason I left one star, is because zero is not an option.

Opened a ticket for trouble with the remote when it stopped pairing with PeelTVGuide weeks ago - ticket number received but no response! And I see I am not alone with this issue. This used to be a pretty innovative device. One star now seems like too much.

I don't normally write reviews, but I had to in this case to say somerhing: NOBODY uses PeelTVGuide primarily for the TV guide, it doesn't matter if you rename it and make the guide the homescreen. Please make the remote the initial screen again, PeelTVGuide was working flawlessly before this update but now you've made using my remote more difficult.
