Not accurate, and too many ads

So I got TuneThisViolin to help with my tuning, and I saw a few negative reviews saying that it doesn’t tune properly, and that there were a lot of ads, but I thought it couldn’t be that bad. I was wrong. Every single time you click on a note to hear it and to tune it, you get an ad. I can’t even hear how the notes supposed to sound because of the ads. And if that isn’t enough, TuneThisViolin doesn’t even work. I was going through the notes to tune my violin that hasn’t been touched in a week, and TuneThisViolin said that they are in tune, which just can’t be right. So I got curious how sensitive TuneThisViolin is to the correct note, and so I played a g sharp while is was checking the g string, and it said it was in tune. I tried this on all the strings and it said the same thing. Don’t get TuneThisViolin, it’s a waste of time and effort

No just no

I do not recommend TuneThisViolin at ALL. I just tried to test it out before I tuned any of the fine tuners, and it said it was in tune. Which would be fine but my music teacher hasn’t tuned my violin in 3 weeks there is no way that it could be right. And if it is right and I am wrong there is more than one issue with TuneThisViolin. There are so many ads I clicked on the note I wanted to check there was an add, I clicked on a new note there was an ad, if I bumped a note ad. I get they need to make money off of this but still. Finally the instructions aren’t very clear maybe it’s just me but I can’t get the higher or lower to go at all it’s stuck on one and if I turn the fine tuners either way it will not change. I am a beginner and I might be doing it wrong but still. Hopefully this helps someone.

Ok

It’s okay. I feel as though the playful theme and clear notes disguise the flaws of app.

TuneThisViolin originally had an ad with every button clicked. Now TuneThisViolin has done a lot of cleaning up, and I appreciate it. I originally gave a one star review, but now with the ads gone I give it three.

Why three? I docked two stars because the note plays for only two seconds and fades away, forcing me to click it over and over, and it is not very smooth, which is very disappointing. Please fix that and I will gladly change my rating!

Edit: They did some cleaning up before, and now the ads are BACK. And I am not pleased. This is ridiculous you fixed it before what happened now?! And seeing other reviews, I see that the pizzicato style is very convenient for some people, which brings me to the suggestion that there should be an option that you can toggle on and off whether you want pizzicato or not please consider my request it would please a lot more people and please clean up the ads!!

Which brings me to my biggest issue. Everyone is saying things about ads and pizzicato and long bow and all that stuff, and the developers don’t seem to be paying any attention!!! Please look at your reviews!! Thank you!

Couldn’t even get past the add.

I downloaded TuneThisViolin to try and tune my violin. As soon as it was finished downloading I opened it and tried to get started. This is a free app, so I was expecting and add. But when the add completed the x to push to exit the add was so tiny t has t every time I clicked it, it took me off TuneThisViolin and to TuneThisViolin Store. I tried for 5 minutes before restarting my phone to get the add off TuneThisViolin so I could get in and tune my violin.

Guess which add popped up again? You got it. I’m sure TuneThisViolin isn’t a bad app. But there should be people that at least test these adds before they decided to put them up, to see if they detract away from TuneThisViolin or make the whole app unusable as it did in this case.

For quality control reasons, I cannot recommend TuneThisViolin.

Amazing! I love it!!!!!

This violin tuner is the first and best I have ever used. It is VERY easy to use, and I like how it uses pizzicato style to tune so that you don’t have to keep picking up the bow and putting it down all the time. The sound is remarkably accurate for a free app. I highly recommend it. I also admire how simple and calm the design is, and the fact that you play it back after it plays the note and it gives you exact feedback. And no, this is an actual costumer. Not an employee. Duh.
Anyways, this tuner is the best free app possibly in the entire world. Get it now!

Uses Pizz and has too many ads

TuneThisViolin uses pizzicato to tune, which is great if you’re a teacher with 25 instruments to tune in five minutes, but is less useful if you’re someone who tunes while bowing. For that I give it 3 out of 5 stars. The ONE star is because TuneThisViolin spits ads at you randomly as you select each tone. This isn’t a problem, until you need to repeat the tone and the tuner is obscured by an ad, some of which require you to click things. If this tuner had a paid version without the ads I’d happily pay for it, but no such paid version exists. So, one star out of five. Find another app, or use tuning forks. Do not download.

Idk why there needs to be ads on a tuner

At least, ads that you can’t exit out forcing you to restart TuneThisViolin . Almost unusable unless you have a ton of patience, straight up you can’t press 2 notes without it going into an ad that can’t be closed so you end up having to restart it almost constantly.
Also when it does work, it’s never a stable “in tune,” it will always swerve up to “too high” or down to “too low.” It could just be a problem on my end, but this thing barely works at least for me.

To the best but works great

I couldn’t tune my violin by ear very well, but once I used TuneThisViolin I got my violin tuned up before I went to school. It’s a super easy and great app to use. You can tune a lot of different string instruments on TuneThisViolin. I even found a banjo one. LOL! Best app I’ve used for school so far! There are some flaws though. It glitches out on me and kicks me out plus the adds are annoyingly

Worse

I was trying to tune my violin and all it did was make it worse. First of all, it can’t decide if my string was too high or too low. I couldn’t change the pitch if it is not telling me if it is too high or low. Secondly, I am new to tuning my violin by myself. I am not sure how well it sounds but I knew that my string was seriously out of tune and TuneThisViolin said it was IN TUNE! I take lessons and I was definitely able to tune it better in class with people talking! Now my violin is VERY out of tune and I don’t have any family members who can tune it. TuneThisViolin only made it worse and I regret downloading it. :(

During Covid -19 video lessons

My Daughter is 8 , Been going to violin class once A week for 2 months. Her teacher usually tunes her violin. Now with social distancing she can’t. TuneThisViolin has saved us time and has given us practice on how to do it ourselves so my daughter and her teacher can start the lesson quicker .

Her teacher planed on showing her how to tune it herself but no one anticipated covid-19 to hit the way it did.

Stay safe

The ads make usage impossible.

I've been trying to use TuneThisViolin, but the way the ads are implemented — showing up after every single note — is noisy in a way that makes me forget about the note immediately after previewing it. So I have to try to press it again, which brings up another ad, which makes me forget about the note again... Absolutely useless.

I know there's a premium option, but I don't pay a premium for things unless I find the free version useful.

The. Absolute. Worst.

I’ve had it for about 3 seconds and it is horrible. If I could rate it for zero stars I would without hesitation. There are WAY to many ads. You have to manage it manually, tapping the notes to tune them which is difficult when you are holding the violin and bow; you have to put down them to tap the note, and then pick it up again, and when that string is done being tuned you put it down again and then pick it up and then put it down again and it’s HORRIBLE. I do not recommend TuneThisViolin. At all.

I love this app

Guys TuneThisViolin is amazing I will raise a 10 out of 10 not just a five island had to my violin by myself because a violin tuner it help me a lot of how hot is a little worse so I will turn my peg up if it was low and I would turn my pig down if it was hight thank you so much around 29 for helping me to my violin

By

Ads. Too. Many.

Every time I’m looking to click on a new string (No need for that but I guess it’s just the design) an ad pops up and I understand you need to make money somehow but it’s just all in your face. Ads everywhere. TuneThisViolin doesn’t even take up the whole screen because there are ads filling the entire perimeter or the screen. Other than that issue, I guess it’s fine. I don’t think it’s worth it to pay for premium anyway so I’ll live with it or pick a new app.

Okay

READ ALL! TuneThisViolin is OKAY because it is easy to tune but it just keeps saying to low for me and I get kinda worried but when I check on my other tuning app it is actually correct. I remember my first time I used TuneThisViolin I did not think it was working and when I checked it was in perfect tune! I think you should get TuneThisViolin especially if you are having a hard time getting your violin in tune.

By

Meh…

TuneThisViolin helps me and at some points does not help me. I have been playing violin for some years now but I can not really tune cause my teacher does it for me. When I practice, my violin usually goes out of tune so it is hard to play. I downloaded TuneThisViolin mostly to help me tune my violin. It was HORRIBLE. My violin sounded nothing like it was supposed to sound like and it said it was IN TUNE. The metronome helps though. The one star is for that. Other than that Horrible app and if you download it for tuning, DON’T.

Too inaccurate; annoying ads

I think the creators of this tuner intended it to be easy and simple, but the problem with that is that it’s OVERLY simple. There is too much variation in what it considers “intune.” I could hear it very clearly as being too sharp and too flat but TuneThisViolin said it was ok. This is way too inaccurate for any performer or student.

The ads are loud, unexpected and in your face. I feel bad for anyone in orchestra who is trying to tune their instrument and then abruptly confronted with an obnoxiously loud and unwarranted video selling laundry soap. How embarrassing.

By

Not to good

It helps you kinda but other than that it’s awful. I just tried to tune 1 string and I counted I got an add every time I clicked one of the notes. Their not long 30 second adds but they might as well be. I deleted TuneThisViolin and just ended up buying one for 3.99 instead. If it didn’t have the adds every two seconds it would be great. Trust me don’t get TuneThisViolin you will regret it.

By

Well..

Overall, it does what it’s supposed to. It plays a note and lets you tune to it. But the tuning process is very difficult when you can’t look at TuneThisViolin for more than 10 seconds and having an ad appear. From what it looks like, even if you did love this tuner, I don’t believe there is a way to pay and remove the ads. What a shame. :/

By

Not worth it

Way too many ads. You have to watch a five second video every time you click on any button. And TuneThisViolin doesn’t seem very accurate. It would give me the same indication of “in tune” even when I had turned my tuners a bit. No indication to see how close you are to being in tune. A needle is the better way to show it.

By

Great! (With exceptions..)

TuneThisViolin is pretty great! I’m a new violin student, and i was having a lot of trouble tuning my violin, and this helped me get all the strings perfectly in tune with another. I would give it 5 stars if there was an ad-free option, even if I had to pay a few bucks for it. Other than the short tone lengths, and the insane amount of ads, it’s a great app!

By

Love it!!

Very great! Helps me tune because tuning is hard for beginners. I love it. Works like a charm. My violin was SO out of tune and I was able to fix it using TuneThisViolin. 10/10 would recommended for people who have hard times tuning their violin.

By

Easy to use but......

This tuner is very easy to use however it isn’t very accurate. After tuning my violin I used a snark just to make sure it was properly tuned and the snark told a complete different story from TuneThisViolin tuner. I don’t know if this tuner is completely correct but it is very easy to use an convenient when I am on the go

By

Amazing, perfect, get the app!!!

Best tuning app I have found for violins!!!! If you are a beginner this is PERFECT!!! If you are advanced TuneThisViolin will still help you!!! I have yet to find a tuning app that is this user friendly!!! I HIGHLY recommend downloading TuneThisViolin!!!!

By

Too many ads!

I don’t usually complain about ads because I know you need them to make money, but every single time you switch the string/note an ad pops up! Also I wish it would let you just switch strings and it recognizes it so we wouldn’t have to do it manually. However it was accurate and I liked the design of TuneThisViolin

By

Love it

Picked up the violin after 20 years just to see if I could play and realized I lost my tuner. Was so happy to find this online! Now I am screeching through turkey in the straw in tune for my family!

By

What happened

At first I loved the tuner. It was easy to learn and I could tune up quickly. Now there are ads and no feedback when I pluck the strings. Very frustrating.

By

Best running app in App Store

It’s free the most simplest tuner for my violin the other apps I tried were very difficult for me to use this one also has a metronome for me to use.

By

Not accurate

Easy to use but NOT a precise tuner. Used to tune my 2,000 dollar violin but it still doesn’t sound quite right. The “in tune” range is to broad and doesn’t get it to the exact pitch. Wouldn’t use if you’re tuning for performances, practice may be okay but understand it won’t be the correct pitch due to the in tune being so broad

WOW AMAZING!

I love TuneThisViolin soooo much. It makes tuning your violin VERY easy. I am a kid that doesnt really know how to tune yet but this makes it very simple for a kid like me to tune by themselves. I tuned all my strings in 5 mins with TuneThisViolin! Thank you!
