Essential Skeleton 4 Reviews

I originally downloaded EssentialSkeleton4 to study for a human osteoarchaeology class (human remains in archaeological contexts) class, in which we had to be able to identify bones even when fragmented. The ability to select any bone and see it from all angles was super helpful. So was the ability to select multiple bones to see how they articulate and what they look like when fused, especially when that articulation is obscured by other bones (like, for instance, the occipital and sphenoid bones).

I aced the class. That was three years ago, and I still have EssentialSkeleton4 on my phone because I still find it useful. Sometimes I even just play around with it just for fun! I’ve also recommended it to multiple people and they love it too.

This is honestly the best human skeletal anatomy app I’ve ever used, paid or free. The fact that it is free, with NO ADS, blows my mind. Thank you, creators, for a great app.

This is probably one of the best (if not, the best) app for reference of a 3D model skeleton. It provides multiple features such as highlighting and pinning certain body parts as well as fading or hiding other body parts if you want to focus on a certain region/area. It also gives you a brief description of each bone part as well. If I had to give some cons...

-It can be a little tricky when trying to rotate the model to look at the skeleton or bone at a certain angle. (I got used to it.)
-It doesn’t label a lot of the parts of each bone (ex: Frontal bone: Coronal suture, supraorbital foramen, etc.)
-When at full zoom at the skeleton/a bone part, the model can look a little blurry.

However, I should say that these cons (for me at least) are VERY MINOR. Most of these cons don’t really bother me but it would be somewhat if they did fix them in an update (especially the second con). But for a FREE app? I’d say this definitely does the job of a providing an accurate model of a skeleton and is definitely worth downloading versus getting those other paid 3D model anatomy apps. I would HIGHLY recommend EssentialSkeleton4 to anyone.

This is such an amazing app. This is what you’ve been looking for if your an anatomy and physiology student! You can rotate to see 3D and see where bones articulate with each other. You can zoom in really close. I’m most likely going to purchase the muscle one. God bless you great people when made EssentialSkeleton4. Literally open lab in your phone. There are no labels to things, so use your own atlas. It would also be great if they had a test version where they give a random bone and we have to identify right or left and certain anatomical landmarks.

What amazing application, every single bone showed and described so perfectly able to turn around the whole skeleton; isolated , fade and hide single bones .... wow I used during my 2 years of preparation for my MRI Technology program what a helpful hand it has been.
I am Latino and this wonderful App give me the right pronunciation of every bone.
What can I say for having it on my phone is PRICELESS

I teach Head & Neck Anatomy and I think this is a great adjunct tool to learning. The images are 3D and allow you to turn the body part around. You can isolate bones and an explanation of the bone pops up along with the areas that it articulated with. You can dim the rest of the body and view a particular bone in the depths of the body (for example the sphenoid bone in the skull) and get a better understanding of its structure and function. Well done!

I absolutely enjoy using this as a study tool for A&P. I love how you can isolate bones and turn them every which way. This is a very useful tool to use as an addition to studying. The only I’d add to EssentialSkeleton4 is a way we we can maybe double click the skull to open it and see all of the foramina on the floor of the cranium and also in an inferior view of the foramen. Thank you!

I’ve only had this a couple of hours and really wish I’d found it sooner! I’m taking a condensed version of anatomy for Pilates teacher training and just wasn’t quite getting it until I found this. So informative and the 3D graphics are incredible. Thank you for this free version as it helped me decide which app I need to purchase!

I tried the free trial to help my son study for anatomy class in college. It’s easy to navigate through and use. The 3D rotation really helps to visualize bone locations and the ability to fade surrounding bones lets you see how bones relate in position easily. The quiz feature is a good way to test your knowledge and it’s easy to use. I tried several anatomy apps and this one was the best.

It'd be awesome if it had more detailed information about the various projections, foramina, fossa, etc of the bones, but for a free app it's been an excellent addition to my study tools for A&P. Quiz drag and drop feature is also slightly difficult to use, but perhaps a tablet with a larger screen wouldn't have the same issue.

This helped me so much! I love it so glad it’s free we can isolate any bone and fade others also it gives information for each bone. It’s easy to move and everything is there and CORRECT! This is only bones though but other than that one of the best. So yes for anatomy GET EssentialSkeleton4!! It helps!

A very impressive and informative app. Unfortunately, a newer version won't load - after a split second of the initial screen, it dumps you out of EssentialSkeleton4 . Deleting and reloading doesn't help. Apparently others are having a similar problem. Although my iOS version meets requirements my iPad is an older one, so maybe that's the problem. If EssentialSkeleton4 works on your machine, you will love it.

EssentialSkeleton4 goes above and beyond for 3D use! Currently taking Anatomy in college and the book simply isn’t enough, but this 3D format is extremely helpful for viewing the bones from every angle, the only thing I can’t do is hold it in my hands duh lol!

This 3D app saved me from failing my anatomy class!! With school being mostly online the lack on hands on studying really hit my grades hard until I found EssentialSkeleton4!

This is by far the best application about skeleton. It’s very detailed and informative. Very helpful in my anthropology class. Huge thanks for the developer for creating EssentialSkeleton4 and making it free as well. It deserves to get 5 star!

Easy to move and select the images

Very helpful for my anatomy tests, and it is a great app for being free. I have recommended it to many friends.

I didn’t give it 5 stars because it would be much more helpful if it also had the specific bone features as on option to view.

For a totally free anatomical skeleton EssentialSkeleton4 is great with a lot of features.

The only thing missing is the ability to look at smaller bone parts. For example I can view the zygomatic bone as a whole, but not the zygomatic arch & process that makes up the bone.

We have used EssentialSkeleton4 for years, making it easier for clients to visualize parts of their bodies. It’s an excellent tool for teaching and a reminder of specific names and placement.

EssentialSkeleton4 has helped me greatly with learning the bones from all angles. Easy to use. It lets you isolate sections of the bone. 10/10 would recommend

Im an art student who’s taking an anatomy based class, this will help a ton with references!! Wish i could move the poses around but even without it im very satisfied.

Minimal vocabulary included, but if you have other references for that info, EssentialSkeleton4 will help you see how the skeleton comes together. Mildly addictive.
