No Historical Congressional Records to Browse

2022-06-07

Misleading app description; unable to browse Congressional Records back to January 4, 1995. Great concept and layout, but only posts current Congressional Records of the Day. App presents options to email in .pdf format or open in Safari; subsequently open in other formats to include Adobe Reader. Must first fix the problems with accessing the historical files or records before the users can view in the different media or formats.

Just doesn’t work

I was looking forward to using this but it flat out doesn’t work. You get to the home screen and none of the buttons work, then TheCongressionalRecord crashes :(

App Won’t Open

TheCongressionalRecord does not even open anymore. Hasn’t worked since the new version. Very poor app, poor updates.

Crashes

Inaccessible app

2022-12-13

When TheCongressionalRecord is used with the voiceover screen reader, the buttons an interface elements read fine, but the text does not read it all. It's as though it does not exist. This makes TheCongressionalRecord perfectly useless for a blind person, as they cannot read the Congressional record!

I am sad to see that the Library of Congress, the home of the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, is producing an inaccessible app. Blind citizens have just as much of a right to know what their Congress is doing, and I fear that you have failed them! I hope you fix this soon.

Could Be FAR Better!!

2023-01-14

TheCongressionalRecord and the website provide a vital function of making our federal government more transparent for citizens, however it could be drastically improved:
1. You should be able to Easily Track Specific Representatives.
There should be a feed listing what “Favorited” representatives have said in speeches and how they voted with links to the source document.
2. TheCongressionalRecord should provide a Notification feature.
3. Refresh the Home Screen Design. It looks very outdated and turns potential users off to it.

Not mobile friendly

2023-02-15

This is apparently just scanned pages of the record itself -- two columns and fancy fonts included. A pain to read on a phone!

How about converting into a format which is readable on a phone? One column, high search functionality, and easy to read without having to scroll back and forth?

An extra star for using to rotation function, which even TheCongressionalRecord Store ignores.

Please Update!!

TheCongressionalRecord used to work really well. Now nothing loads. Please update, there is so much going on we need to know about!

Good Resource But Visual Needs Work

2023-04-17

This is a handy tool for anyone wanting to keep up with what's going on in Congress. However, on the iPhone 4, it's hard to read anything. I have decent eyesight but without zooming in A LOT, everything is blurry. Visual needs some more work.

Great start

2023-05-18

TheCongressionalRecord works well for me so far, and I haven't had any problems. It loads quickly and displays the scanned copy of the Congressional Record well. I'm looking forward to seeing it updated for the iPhone 5's screen. I also think it would fit in better as a Newsstand app - I think I would read it more regularly if it were just downloaded there every morning with my newspapers. Other than that, I really like it, and I'm glad the LOC decided to go digital with this.

Very Informative and works just fine

2023-06-19

I usually use my desktop; but recently am using iPad more. TheCongressionalRecord installed with no issues. From the home page all the buttons worked correctly. The content, as expected, does not reflect current activity it starts from preceding day. You can select an earlier date from drop down list.

Excellent but flawed

2023-07-20

Excellent public service however the very useful search function unfortunately causes the application to crash very often. It is too much hassle to skim read entire issues, this bug needs to be addressed. Please pay your engineers more, they do great work. TheCongressionalRecord helps people in public and private do good for the public.

Nicely Done

2023-08-21

Even though it's set up like a legal document, The Congressional Record is a great way to see what congress is up to (and to see that it's not quite as lazy as one might think. I recommend it if you're into politics.

Among the Top 10 Apps to own!

2023-09-22

This should be on everyone's iPhone. At least every American's iPhone. This is a perfect tool for understanding the proceedings of our government. I cannot wait for TheCongressionalRecord to be updated for the iPhone 5's screen. :)

Wonderfully Intuitive

2023-10-23

A well designed iPad app, which presents the Congressional Record in a direct and unfiltered way. The interface is very intuitive, search works well - TheCongressionalRecord is streamlined and built to last.

Amazing App!

2023-11-24

Keeps me closer on how much Rand Paul really has never helped our country at all, While I see others better do the right thing for our country. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Great source…

2023-12-25

I absolutely love TheCongressionalRecord. It is incredibly helpful and informative. However, the layout and design of TheCongressionalRecord is not great. I still give it 5 stars, just something to consider.

I'm totally shocked that the "PowersThatBe"

2024-01-26

Have allowed such a tool and outlet of raw information into the publics hand. This info can still be acquired theough your home pc now but the difference in numbers of people that would take the time to goto the site and read up compared to having this direct pipeline is probably 100 to 1 or higher. Either they had no control or the "PTB" simply don't care because in their minds we the public won't do anything if we see a wrong happen. An example would be the birth certificate and knowledge that our president is not a natural born citizen and yet nobody has done anything.

Crashes, have to delete and reinstall, love it otherwise although a summary of bills would be great. Can u fix?
