Was good... now a rip-off/ not so much

Edited review below... this morning all my previous issues were accessible. You got a few stars back. The publishers at least could have let the contact go through and notified that it may take a day for the restoration of previous issues.

Couldn’t purchase & download new issue, tried all the recommended solutions and now can’t restore previous issues... but it will allow be to buy them all over again... this is really bad... in need of a fix. Now tried contacting company through the “message” us option but the “send” option is grayed out.. so this is really bad...

Very Buggy

This version is very buggy. Every few days, all my purchased issues would disappear and I would have to re-download them again; I've over 10 issues. It's quite annoying and frustrating. I will not purchase any more issue until this is resolved.

Whenever I'm able to access them I just love the articles, tips and techniques. I look forward to try and use them on my photoshop projects.

Love this magazine.

They give lots of tips and tricks. They make it so much fun to learn from.

None of the video links work

Some informative info in print but very very frustrating to find links to video tutorials that lead to nowhere. I won’t be buying anymore issues.

Where are the images to download and practice with?

My one star review has nothing to do with the magazine itself or the subscription. I like ready the articles and the how-to's and have found them informative enough to subscribe, as well as purchase past issues. The problem I am having is not being able to download the images (for example the Surreal dreamscape tutorial from summer 2011). If digital subscribers are not able to download the images from past issues they buy, then why even include the tutorials? I will change this rating once I am able to download the images to practice with from past issues.

I have changed my rating to 5 stars now. The newest issue includes links to email the resources to an email address. I can now follow along with the tutorials using the actual phots used. Thanks for addressing this issue!

Top tips

This mag has given me lots of little top tips, well worth the minimal investment when you consider what we all put into our equipment shouldn't we all maintain some way of learning consistently in this ever changing digital world we are in. A magazine or 3 a month is at bare minimum just to keep up.....

Good magazine

So the gateway is free but the magazines are not (as I would expect). The magazine has great content and it worth the price. Like others have said, you would not walk into Barns & Nobles and expect a free book or magazine so why here? Yes it would be nice to have a preview but that is what the front cover is on a magazine. I think Apple should maybe title these "apps" as something other than free to curb the whiners of the entitled generation or those to expect something for nothing. You get what you pay for, want free content find someone willing to who doesn't want to get paid for it and who know something on the subject...good luck on that one. I think all the whining is coming from the same people who sit at the book store all day reading magazines and never purchasing one and then complain when the magazine is discontinued. (sorry for the rant)

Good magazine but link sharing is a sales scam

While the magazine has some excellent articles and tutorials, and the price is great, including links to their video tutorials, there is one thing that leads me to only give it 4 stars. I read an article and wanted to share it with a friend, who is not yet a subscriber. I clicked on the “share” button, which I was led to believe would share the link with a friend. Instead, I found out that the “share” is only to share the ability to have your friend subscribe. That’s really misleading, and I won’t use that feature again. These folks should allow one click through per mail address sent, and offer a subscription if the recipient likes the article. As it is, it will now become an unused ‘feature’.

False Advertising!!!

I recently got a message from you guys claiming I could get a free issue because of Boxing Day! So i got the resent magazine, but was charged for it. Contacted support they sent me to iTunes. iTunes can't refund my money & suggested I contact these people! I got ripped off by false advertising!!! Don't pay any attention to their message!!! Not sure I want to get a subscription to this magazine now!!! I'm afraid I'll get burnt again!

Great another message, offering a recent back issue for free, sorry I'm not falling for that twice!!! Not guaranteed to be free!!! See what screwing someone over can cost!

If you have a free download for us mark it as free or better yet give it to us so that we can start reading it.

Decent

Not bad, would be better if the articles on iPad were a little easier to read. Also sometimes the downloadable or links are broken when using it on my Mac. Not a big deal I guess but it would be nice to actually be able to use the software side by side with the actual files that are being used in the tutorials, and sometimes this just isn't able to be done due to the broken links or bad download spots.

This is a possible subscription.

The previous reviews state that you must pay when you download PracticalPhotoshop, which is not entirely true. You do get a free copy of one of the magazines. If you are wanting future or past copies of the publication, then yes you will have to pay. It's just like buying a magazine at the store. It says nowhere in the description that the content is free. PracticalPhotoshop is free, the content is not.

A Step Backwards

The best thing I can say about the "new" Practical Photoshop is that the lower price is nice. But as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for.

The tutorials are still well done, but there are fewer in each issue (a lot fewer!). And there is a lot less in the way of editorial content. Most importantly, it seems that reader contributed content has been sacrificed as well.

This was a good source of useful information on using a challenging product. I fear that like Photoshop CC, the changes here are going to result in a loss of interest by the viewing public.

They are crooks

Okay, is I bought the three month subscription, which was fine...then they automatically renewed it for another three months I was still okay with it...then I uninstalled PracticalPhotoshop while I switch iPads, and lost all my past issues, I still got charged for the issues, and agin automatic renewal of the subscription. I wrote several emails to the company, no response. Do your self a favor and don't get PracticalPhotoshop or any subscription. I would also highly recommend Advanced Photoshop if you want any photoshop mag...any but this one to be sure.

I don't know what other people are complaining about...

PracticalPhotoshop does exactly as it says. The magazine itself is top-notch. Of course, you need a subscription to read it, but that's because it's a magazine. Get real, people.

By

Also to the complainers.

Magazines take time and money to create. For these people making it is their job, it feeds their families. Do you have a job and people to be responsible too? This era has made people into babies shouting, "gimme! gimmie!" Can it and pay for content like you paid for your fancy phone. (or did you steal that too? Why isn't that free?)

Informative

I really like this e-zine! Lots of practical tips albeit a little short on content sometimes. I hope it continues to expand and I hope it isn't true that my issues disappears when my subscription stops?

Great FREE issues!

I read several negative reviews about PracticalPhotoshop but downloaded it anyway. I was shocked to find after download I went to my Newstand and found several FREE issues! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the video tutorial on how to make your photo look like a zombie! Thanks guys. I will subscribe!

By

Doesn't work!

Every single issue that comes in has problems installing! Not one has ever downloaded properly and I too have lost issue after issue. Sure sounds like it would be a great read, but I honestly wouldn't even know. Their customer support has also been no help, been referred to Apple and we all know that Apple is help responsible for these. Stay away until one day, though I purchased mine nearly a year ago they prove us wrong!

Issues don't download

I recently subscribed to the online version for iPad but can't download anything without paying again. Had heard this was a big problem with this magazine after I bought it but was hoping problems w the website had been resolved. This is a rip-off as you pay up front for a subscription, get your first copy and then nothing after that with no way to get your money back. DON'T SUBSCRIBE ! WEBSITE DOES NOT WORK AND THEY KNOW IT!!!

Great magazine

If your into photoshop then this is PracticalPhotoshop to get. Every magazine is filled with tips and tricks to take your photography to the next level. I highly recommend it to anyone wishing to get the most from their photography.
