Best Minesweeper Game

This plays like the old version on MS Windows without the distracting, flashy glitter of the current version, so it is much more playable. In addition, instead of just having three levels of play, it has an arbitrary number of levels because you can set whatever complexity you wish to have regarding board size, square size, and mine density. I play with my device filled border to border with small squares and at a 15% greater mine density than the highest level on Windows making the play much tougher. I play for speed, so I don't guess where mines are, only where I believe there are no mines. This way all the mines appear when clicking the last free space. The adjustable sizes and mine density make this an excellent game.

Perfect functionality, only small issues

I have been playing Spica minesweeper for about a year, and it is just like the minesweeper we know and love. You are able to change backgrounds, map size, and is just an overall good job by Spica.

However, I do have one small complaint with MinesweeperQ . When you are making a custom map size, it is very difficult to get the size and number of bombs you want. It can be done, but it takes awhile and I feel this issue could be easily circumvented by Spica.

Lastly, and my MOST IMPORTANT tip to all of you is that you may be frustrated by the pop up ads that appear every once in a while. You actually don't have to wait for the "X" to appear, you can just tap the top right corner while the ad is playing and the ad will close out. This is a really helpful tip!!

Great game and only one small complaint

I've had this game on my phone since 2013 and have about 17,000 games played. Overall it is a great game and everything you could want in a minesweeper game. My only complaint is I wish there was a way to reduce the amount of time required to tap and hold to mark/flag a square. I have hold duration set to the lowest time setting and it still seems like it takes a while and slows me down a bit. It used to be a great duration for me but as I got better and faster the lowest setting is still a bit too long and slows me down. This is a small complaint though and I have yet to find a minesweeper game as great as this one!

Great app!

It is very close to the original PC version.. in fact it's better! I just realized you can adjust the lag time for flagging the mines and also the touch sensitivity. I love that feature! I'm still trying to figure out how there are players who completed the easy level in 1 second - best I could do is 10, but I'll keep trying.

I will say that just like the PC version I hate it when the game comes down to chance. I think most of us hate that in a game of logic and focus. But oh well, still better than reading political posts on FB, so 5 stars.

Faithful version of MS game

Very enjoyable and faithful rendition of the Windows game.
I very much enjoy those situations when skill can be used to solve the puzzle.
Also I like the stats that MinesweeperQ keeps. I am trying to get a 75% success rate on the medium game.
The problem with the game, for me, is that there are too many cases where one has to guess. This means that sometimes a loss is due to a wrong guess, and other times due to a mistake. I would like to distinguish between the two.
I wish there were some features that could avoid or overcome the guesswork. Maybe, for example, allowing a peek when one or two mines remain. Minesweeper purists could turn off such a feature.

Great game

I give this game 4 stars. It’s a lot of fun, maybe even a little addictive. The only reason I did not rate the game 5 stars is because it’s too easy to lose by accident, i.e., touching a square unintentionally. The main reason for this is, I think, because the screen is too small to display the whole board at this once. Therefore, the player has to slide the board up, down, left, and right to move to a new area to play. In doing so, it is too easy to accidentally touch a square and open it inadvertently.
Otherwise, this game is an awesome mental exercise and lots of fun to play!

MINESWEEPER IS A DRUG

Do not download this game unless you want to develop a full blown addiction! I’ve spent countless hours playing this. I’ve been playing for so long that the speed at which I’ve come to play is FATAL. Literally I die within a minute because I’ve gotten so fast at recognizing where the bombs are that I oversee mistakes that result in sudden DEATH and it’s so frustrating that I have to play again. I don’t recommend this game unless you want all of your relationships to fall apart and insomnia because you cannot stop playing minesweeper. This isn’t a choice anymore.

Good interface, but ...

The interface on this implementation of the classical game is pretty intuitive, but still subject to fumblefingers of course. My biggest complaint is that there are way too many times when the game boils down to a guessing choice rather than logical or mathematical skill. Frequently it boils down to four squares, or sometimes even two, where it is provably impossible to actually determine the proper move. Other than that, I like this game and spend way too much time on it.

LOVE the Minesweeper

My absolute favorite game, I never get tired of it. I love the puzzle, love the balance of logic and odds.

I went hunting for a Minesweeper app for my iPhone years ago when it became more of a pain to play on my Windows PC; tried a few, and settled on this one.

MinesweeperQ functions perfectly, uses little storage or processor, never needs updating. If I could change anything, I would add (1) some tracking of results, and (2) some greater emphasis on time - I love playing quick and seeing if I can beat my time.

Takes me back

Great game—almost exactly like the old game that was loaded on the old windows machines. Do they still do that? There are several different backgrounds to choose from (even in the free version). Only minor difference I’ve noticed is that when you touch a number that doesn’t have the correct number of bombs flagged, it doesn’t show which ones are options. Like I said, very minor difference, and one that really doesn’t affect gameplay. Great job!

A Bit Needy

I have played literally 4 times since installing MinesweeperQ 10 minutes ago. Now they want me to rate it. I’m giving it a 2 simply because I don’t think there has been enough time for a proper review. The reason I’m not giving a 1 is because I have played the game before and quite liked it. I think this is a great game for those occasions when I want to relax a bit but not shut my brain completely off. I find the game interesting and beneficial for developing simple logic and reasoning skills. I would recommend it as a standard app for your device.

The Only Good Minesweeper App on the App Store

I tried most of the free Minesweeper apps available and they usually stink. This version feels the closest to the classic desktop version I remember, but with good touch controls.

One minor caveat - I recommend the in-app purchase to remove the ads. Loading them up seemed to slow things down a bit and without them, MinesweeperQ is super speedy.

Almost a great version of Minesweeper

Likes:
The ads are not obtrusive at the bottom of the screen
After finally finding the setting to change the mode to flag instead of the green boarder I like the mode appearance
Works almost like the original game
Can set custom difficulty levels
So far have not had a need to just guess at a flag location. Other mine games I tried tended to have corners with two or more squares remaining and no hint as to which held the last mine forcing a guess that was often incorrect
Dislike:
Question marks to flag possible mines do not work at all though there is a setting in the menu. I cannot place a question mark. My previous game by a different company allowed a question mark to indicate a possible mine location. That game is no longer available so I went with this one.
Poor help or instructions available

Too many “guess” plays.

I used to love this game on windows PC’s as a kid. My number one complaint with MinesweeperQ is the so, so frequent times you HAVE to completely guess. The layout will work in multiple ways, so you’re forced to just pick one. That’s even on the advanced, or whatever is below the hardest difficulty. I gave up attempting the hardest on MinesweeperQ due to getting so far along and forced to pick with no concrete evidence. I can’t recall ever running into on the mid difficulty and very rare on the expert with pc. May want to tweak your algorithms a bit.

Almost the best minesweeper app on the Appstore.

This port is just great. Feels exactly like the Windows version (I even start to prefer this one) !
Themes are nice, default theme is more than enough. Ads are extremely well placed (they don’t bother you at the slightest).

The only bad thing is that you can’t go further than 24x30 tiles... but if you’re not a minesweeper fanatic like me, it shouldn’t bother you.

Number one stunner

Diehard minesweeper player here. I am absolutely in love with MinesweeperQ. I made the mistake of deleting it from my phone, and I nearly had a panic attack when I couldn’t find it again! I downloaded a dozen other minesweeper apps, in the hunt for this one. No other app compares to this one’s reactive speed, and ease of navigation, which is extremely vital. MinesweeperQ is the best one!

Barely functional.

App is barely functional. Settings are arbitrary and hardly work. Changing the sensitivity & other settings barely makes any difference in play, touch screen sensitivity is slow regardless of my settings. I know this is MinesweeperQ and not my phone because other apps are more receptive than this one with equal movement & speed. There are times where the grid will not even register that I am touching it after ten seconds (solution: close MinesweeperQ and reopen it for another 10 seconds of gameplay). Ridiculous! If my scores weren’t saved on MinesweeperQ I would be shifting to a new app immediately.

Good app, one small problem

I love MinesweeperQ. I've had it for years and play it all the time. Very true to the original PC version. My only issue is that sometimes when I am holding a square to tag it as a bomb, it doesn't register and detonates the bomb. As a suggestion, maybe the game shouldn't immediately reveal all other bombs. Instead, give the player the option to "undo" (a limited amount of times) or "reveal bombs" and start a new game.

Amazing!

I haven't become this addicted to a game in years. That's crazy considering I'm an avid gamer and play many more expensive titles, but minesweeper is amazing, and I can't believe how late I am to the party, and how nobody has ever shown me this! As for MinesweeperQ , it's equally great. It times you, has multiple difficulty settings, and even a custom setting if you're too good for advanced. 😂

Bombs not being correctly counted

I thought I was playing this incorrectly, until I looked up the instructions online. If a mine is diagonal to a number it is still supposed to be counted, but in this version it is only counted sometimes. I just lost a game, so I decided to screenshot what I was looking at, so I can review it and get better. However what I saw were bombs next to 1's that were diagonal (and that counts) and then I saw a 1 with a bomb to the left, a bomb underneath and a bomb located diagonally south east of the 1. What's the point of playing if the numbers don't correctly alert you to the numbers of bombs near by? None.

Great but the ad companies ruin some of the experience

MinesweeperQ works great and is nearly identical to the windows version but the ads that are shown in between games are beyond frustrating. All free games have ads because the developers need to make money and I understand that but the ads from Playrix (company that makes homescapes and similar apps) are literally impossible to close... the ‘X’ to exit MinesweeperQ is so far into the corner that even with a fine tip stylus it refuses to close. I’ve had to resort to completely closing MinesweeperQ and reopening it to simply play another round or sometimes I simply keep it closed and choose a different app to play on. I hope Spica finds my message and will evaluate for themselves on iOS devices. Spica, there are lots of ad companies that would easily pay to advertise on your application and it might be worth getting rid of the shady companies who hide the ‘X’ to get people to re-route to their site and application on MinesweeperQ Store. I suggest you choose companies who are straight forward with who they are and actually care about the consumer by not spamming the screen with impossible to exit ads.
