Epic Fail

First of all, AJCPeachtreeRoadRace would have failed usability tests. Red is not readable on a black background. AJCPeachtreeRoadRace was confusing. This is a use once app with relatively high stakes. There are no instructions, no hold your hand through setup, such as you might see for something like a smart fan or WiFi router. The word complete is something I associate with the end of a race not the beginning. A word like START should have been used. Lastly, AJCPeachtreeRoadRace stopped accumulating at two points. It lost a mile. Nothing is more demoralizing. Nothing is more unforgivable than a running app that is highly inaccurate. Ultimately you should have worked with Strava or other apps that are in the business and work with multiple devices. I cannot believe you did any serious review of AJCPeachtreeRoadRace. Everything that ATC that I am aware of to this point has been stellar. This is going to hurt.

One Star is one too many.

I’ve use AJCPeachtreeRoadRace twice: once on Thanksgiving morning, and once on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Both times before the end of the run AJCPeachtreeRoadRace gave me the white screen of death. On Thanksgiving day it happened One mile into the run and would not come back up without killing AJCPeachtreeRoadRace and restarting it. The Sunday after Thanksgiving at each of the first 4th miles the audio was echoed within AJCPeachtreeRoadRace . At mile five, the sound was clear, but when I checked around mile 5 1/2 I have the white screen of death again.
I appreciate the track club trying to come up with a way to augment the virtual Peachtree this year. Also the fact that they allow alternate sources of tracking your run to be submitted. Hopefully next year will be back to normal and not need to use AJCPeachtreeRoadRace again.

Mileage is inaccurate

I decided to complete my run at the same place that I have been running for years and trained for multiple times for previous years Peachtree Road Race. For my training I used AJCPeachtreeRoadRace that I have used for years, and known it’s accurate. That app has a rating of 4.2 in AJCPeachtreeRoadRace Store. I decided to use Peachtree Road Race app for my run and did not use the other app so that I will not be running multiple apps that use GPS tracking. The Peachtree Road Race map extended my run by over half a mile, adding a significant amount of time to my run. I know the course I ran very well, and I know AJCPeachtreeRoadRace that I have been using previously very well as well. I wonder how much if any testing has been done on this Peachtree Road Race app before it was given to us to use for this event.

Disappointed Runner 2020

Ran Ptree on Friday. Had a pretty good time going when AJCPeachtreeRoadRace stopped. It was while going into mile 4. White screen. Nothing. Couldn’t get anything back. I had sent tracking to friends. They got nothing except the initial notice and my attempt to restart.

So I stopped. Going to try again Saturday. Will use a different app. Not worth the frustration. Sent several emails to app support. Ask three questions, get answer to one. They don’t have any idea why failed. Should have suspected problems when app released so late. Buggy. Big fail by track club. Amateur. With all the running apps working for years, why did they need their own new one.

The more I think about it the more disgusted I get. Not the end of the world but very poorly planned and done.

I had to go 7.22 miles to get the app to say I finished

The UI is cluttered and bloated. And while I appreciate that this is not a general fitness app the distance tracking was horrible. On my wife’s phone AJCPeachtreeRoadRace stopped tracking distance at 3.3 miles and on my phone the distance lagged from a half mile to a whole mile at the end. The dot on the map actually showed me at the finish line over the last actual mile I walked even though distance track said I was short of 6.2 miles. I’d expect much better from an app for a track and field club. Maybe leave some of the fluff and bloat out of the next version or better yet partner with Nike Runkeeper or other fitness tracker.

Love the effort, app doesn’t work

I’m so grateful to the ATC and race organizers for finding a way to keep the tradition alive. That said, AJCPeachtreeRoadRace is a bit of a disaster. Thankfully, I used my Apple Watch to record the run and then simply uploaded my results. AJCPeachtreeRoadRace would not locate and load the run automatically, so I had to take a screenshot of the workout activity from the Health app. I’m sure with more time, AJCPeachtreeRoadRace would have worked better. For me, it just played the audio from the Mayor and race organizers, and uploaded my results via screenshot.

Not accurately recording distance

AJCPeachtreeRoadRace doesn’t record distance well at all. I don’t know if maybe it doesn’t take into account for elevation gain/drop, but I ended up running a full extra mile to get AJCPeachtreeRoadRace to register 6.2 miles and then it lost my run time as I tried to submit it. I know it was way off because my Apple Watch showed I completed the 10k at just after an hour while AJCPeachtreeRoadRace showed 5.3 miles.

Privacy issues and mileage errors

Two days after I installed AJCPeachtreeRoadRace , iOS told me that AJCPeachtreeRoadRace had been tracking my location 41 separate times even though I only opened it once. AJCPeachtreeRoadRace was tracking everywhere I went for two days. There is no reason AJCPeachtreeRoadRace needs my location unless I’m specifically tracking a run. Very bad security practice.

Mileage errors were way off during my actual race. MapMyRun showed me as completing 11.6 km by the time the PRR app finally recorded 10k.

The voiceovers at some of the mile markers were a nice surprise. The map showing progress was neat too, but the map seemed to have its own mileage issues.

For an app whose primary purpose is to measure time for a 10k, this is pretty disappointing.

Terrible

1. I appreciate the AJC and the Atlanta track club for still putting on a race during COVID-19
2. AJCPeachtreeRoadRace is terrible. AJCPeachtreeRoadRace was a mile slower than my Nike run club. The same pavements that I have trained on for past races, took me 7.69 mikes to register 6.2.
3. AJCPeachtreeRoadRace failed to ensure a successful peachtree roadrace for myself and others. Especially those who ares new running and those who’ve worked diligently to improve their times over the years.

Forced Closed on the last mile

See subject.

Fortunately I use Runkeeper as well and had times from that. While the announcements every mile are cool the fact that I now have to enter my time manually is jacked up. Hopefully they'll fix it before the next race.

I know it was slapped together quickly so I'll give them a pass for that consisting we're in a pandemic. Definitely could use some reliability and UI polish.

Stopped tracking at 2 miles

Tried the warm up run to plot my course. After 4 miles I checked AJCPeachtreeRoadRace and it had stopped at 2 miles. When I finished and checked AJCPeachtreeRoadRace it had reset without saving any data or course information. I did not link any devices because they all track differently. My workout showed 6.2 miles on Fitbit and 6.5 on MapMyWalk. What will happen on race day if it stops tracking?

The mileage is way off

I ran my 10k this morning. My Garmin watch showed 6.44 miles and my Adidas app on IPhone showed 6.54. The PTree app finally got to6.2 miles but it would not upload my results. It said that there were no events recorded. I had to enter manually.

I also could not get the crowd noise and the race commentary to work at all.

The malfunctioning app detracted from what was supposed to be a good social distancing event.

Plenty to applaud-

Three great strengths we uncovered.
- The ability to make fun photos with the funny signs was great entertainment both before and after.
- The mile marker announcements and encouragements were sweet and very engaging.
-Uploading the times from several different sources was well thought out and simple.

I am sorry for the grief over the GPS functionality and wanted the developers to know that much on AJCPeachtreeRoadRace was appreciated! And it was a part of a FUN RUN- for us as a family group of 10- making the best of yet another 2020 challenge.

App LOST my results!!!😡

I finished the PRR today, before submitting the results, in the review your results step, if gave an option to add a selfie, I took the selfie didn’t like the selfie, tapped the reload icon took a new Selfie, and then it wouldn’t go back and it lost my results!!!
I can run it again this Sat or Sun but Now my results will not be on the letter board 😡
I recommend everyone to run a second athletic app as a backup!

Dual Membership problems

I have a dual membership. We are both registered for the race under the same email. When I login to AJCPeachtreeRoadRace it shows the first person listed on the membership. Will I be able to send in scores for both members? Otherwise it works well

Mileage off, poor sound

Mileage definitely off which makes the time inaccurate. Hard to hear the commentary especially as the race went on. I totally missed the announcement of mile 4 and nearly missed the end. The display was in small font which was hard to read while running. Didn’t have app for Apple Watch. Disappointed

Mileage is off

Agree with what everyone else is saying about the mileage being off. My experience wasn’t quite as bad, but I had actually run 6.33 miles before AJCPeachtreeRoadRace registered 6.2. I know the route and had clocked it in my car beforehand, but I kept running until AJCPeachtreeRoadRace said I was finished. It’s like I had to run past all the banana tables without stopping!

Terrible

With all the money they saved by not having the race, you’d think they could spend a few bucks to make a decent app. The distance tracking isn’t even close!

AJCPeachtreeRoadRace should definitely allow you to upload your run from a running app like Strava. But of course it does not.

Pathetic job. About what you would expect from AJC.

Not tracking distance correctly

Using the warmup run, AJCPeachtreeRoadRace is terribly off.
I am a fast walker that averages 13 minute miles. AJCPeachtreeRoadRace is set for a 2 mile warmup and it showed over 23 minute miles on 2 different attempts. (All other apps were closed and wifi off as suggested.)
Hope they fix before the live virtual run.

Mileage incorrect

Just tested out AJCPeachtreeRoadRace with a warm up run and the mileage is not accurate by ALOT. My 2 miles (according to my Apple Watch which is pretty accurate because I have been running the same 2 mile loop for years) was only recorded as 1.6 miles on AJCPeachtreeRoadRace . Not looking forward to how many miles I will actually have to run to get the full 10k with AJCPeachtreeRoadRace.
