Has anyone actually tried reporting a positive result through the app? It asks you for a pin number. I called my local health department and after being transferred five times they told me that they don’t give out pin numbers at my local health department. So I called 211 as well as the toll-free number and the menu options put you into a infinite loop and you cannot get someone to talk to you on the phone. The app has now become useless to me and anyone else who wants to report their positive result. UPDATE-I received a call from the local health department to verify my information and they sent me over a pin number. After trying multiple times over an hour, I am still not able to share a positive result through the app. Once you type the pin in, you get a circling box that says “verifying“. I let it sit there for 20 minutes before I tried again and the same thing. Restarted the phone and the same. This app just isn’t working.

I’ve been using this app hoping it would alert me to any potential exposures, and now i know why it has never alerted me. I tested positive almost a week ago, still have not been contacted by the health dept and still haven’t received a PIN number to alert anyone else. By now it’s far too late to do any good by alerting anyone. After a year of this pandemic, i should’ve received a PIN as soon as i tested positive: they have my info, my email, my phone number. But nothing, just silence. A good idea, but if you aren’t going to support it, it’s doing more harm than good, offering those using it a false sense of safety when really there is none.

I had everyone in my household download this app when it became available. We have never gotten a notification, which in theory is great. Our whole family was exposed to COVID and four out of the five of us contracted it. My husband and daughter actually received a pin and put it into their app, and I still have not gotten an exposure notification. It’s been 5 days, which is definitely over 24 hours. So while I love the idea of the app, the sensitivity of the notification parameters is not ideal.
