I’ve tried them all- google photos, memos, and Orga- screenshot hero is simply the BEST!! It takes a bit longer to initially get your library uploaded but that’s likely due to how amazingly accurate it is. I use ScreenshotHero specifically for searching texts and class notes to put into Anki flashcards- works flawlessly. Thanks to the creator for making this item so accessible. I usually never write reviews and I felt compelled to do so.

While the text search is a solid function as its primary feature, what you can do with that sorted gallery is the question. It takes a long time to sort, then sift and load your shots, which is okay, but there's no way to make use of that time spent indexing in any future sort organization action.

So each time you re-do the same work. Not really helpful. Then there's what you can do once you have a narrower field of shots. Nothing but copy one screenshot to paste into a doc. One shot not multiple. There's no combining multiple shots (stitching) or even a collecting option so you can have all similar or contextually related shots on one place for easy access.

And batch culling? Forget it. I thought I could identify shots I could delete (information on them already handled) but forget bulk actions in ScreenshotHero. Index is all you get.

The text search is pretty accurate (who know what it misses?) but I need the functionality of combining shots to use in multiple formats not just copy and paste which can't be used within photo app. Will probably delete as I don't need to find just one screenshot that often.

Please before you abandon ScreenshotHero add a feature to ‘Show in Photos app’ All Photos view if possible. This would make ScreenshotHero way more useful without much programming on your part. Then users can use Screenshot Hero to search and you can leave the rest to Photos app (such as dates, save image, delete, etc).

Like previous poster, I found ScreenshotHero through a Hacker News post. It found most of the text in the screenshots. I hope the developer can add an option to copy the text recognized by the OCR.

Ideally Apple should hire this guy and have similar integration system wide.

Saw this on Hacker News and downloaded immediately. It's so simple, and fast too. I think ScreenshotHero would be even better if the extracted text was visible in a column of a view and/or visible/copy-able when you tap an image.

I was recently cleaning up my iPhone and found ScreenshotHero. I could not figure out what the heck it was doing and almost deleted it before looking for it in ScreenshotHero Store. It seriously needs an “About“ button, even if it just displays ScreenshotHero Store description.

Just read an article that talked about how amazing ScreenshotHero is and I found it to be just that.

I have dozens of screenshots on my iPad so tried it out. Almost instantly, any words it scanned and optically character read (OCR) made the photos/screenshots come up immediately.

It didn’t OCR some of the words (e.g., a movie poster that had my wife’s uncle in it) but mostly it was able to detect text and make it searchable. I’d say 90% at least.

Great app ... and one I’d pay for too.

Once app fully parses all photos it just closes after you open it up. Great idea though.

Just wish it had the option to copy the text out of a photo.

App seems to freeze if app is processing images and then airplane mode is enabled.

Suspiciously, I detect network activity during image processing though... what’s going on there?

ScreenshotHero would be unstoppable with a “copy text to clipboard” button on each photo.

Whatever is going on with the suspicious network activity needs explaining. This makes me distrust ScreenshotHero .
