Hands On ASL Reviews

So I love this concept of making a game out of learning sign language! I have been looking for this type of thing for a while! My only thing I wish it incorporated more besides the alphabet! I wish you could pick categories to learn like basic gestures, greetings, food, family related topics, things of that sorts!

Fun and motivating learning game with real time practice using ASL fingerspelling. I love that the words get longer and quicker at each level so that I continue to be challenged and improve. I also love that you can earn rewards and unlock cool features as your high score increases! Great tool for anyone who needs to be able to communicate using sign language quickly and effectively. I've never seen one using 3d hands before either so it's great being able to rotate and zoom in to see each shape from all angles

I learned the alphabet in sign language when I was in high school, which was a very long time ago! Over the years I have forgotten quite a few of the letters. This is a great way to refresh & retain in my memory!

I am so happy for HandsOnASL! It is a fun & easy way to learn! I learn by repetition so the practice games are a great tool for me to use! And I like that I can pick my choice of game level to play, from easy to more difficult. My choice is easier right now!

Best of all is the zoom & rotate function!
This makes learning easier by seeing, in detail, the position of the hand & fingers! So much better than trying to figure out by just looking at a picture!

Thanks for this awesome app! What a great way to bring awareness & share knowledge on how we can communicate better with one another!

I love how much consideration has clearly gone into making HandsOnASL as friendly as possible to ALL users.. from the simple, intuitive design that can be understood by all ages, to the different skin color viewing options, to the very basis of "Hands on ASL" being a novel approach in learning how to communicate better with those within the Deaf community.. HandsOnASL is awesome!
Side note: I want that dog on the logo that pops up when HandsOnASL is first opened.

HandsOnASL is great and a very good way to learn. But some ways are incorrect. For example k and p are in correct. The test at the end of going through the alphabet is also a very short amount of times. I myself has the alphabet memorized by heart, and I can’t even have the thought process of seeing the sign. If you fixed these things though HandsOnASL would be a go-to app if you need/want to learn sign language.

This is a great app and very motivating for my students. I wish there was a way that schools could purchase HandsOnASL with no ads and everything unlocked when purchased. We are not allowed to do in-app purchases in our district through our management system

This is a very convenient app to learn ASL. So far, developers have uploaded 3D graphics to learn the ASL alphabet. Built in quizzes of varying difficulties test your knowledge after you review. Whether you have 5 minutes between meetings or an hour to dedicate this is a great way to learn a new language.

It’s pretty good on learning the alphabet. I wish they would do the same with words. Also maybe one without a timer.

I was looking for a game like tool to learn sign language and this did the trick! The games 3D Hand doing all the signs was neat and the practice mode made it easy to start signing! I would definitely recommend this to beginners

HandsOnASL is really fun! I find myself trying to constantly out do my previous practice round. I also love the fact that I’m learning a useful skill while I play. I’m amazed at how much I remember when playing the practice games!

I like HandsOnASL it helped me quiet a bit. But I really wish they wouldn’t time the signs because it takes me a minute to figure it out and the time is short. I also wish they had more things to learn. Please update soon total bummer

I learned ASL in high school and have since forgotten most of it. I’m glad HandsOnASL provides a way for me to refresh what I knew and to teach my kids ASL. It’s a fun way to learn! I highly recommend!!

I’m learning ASL in attempt to befriend a deaf kid at my school named Paul. He’s awesome and really fun. This is good practice for the alphabet. I hope in the future you guys can release different types of practice (like more of the basics) this is also good for teaching children ASL

I love HandsOnASL. It teaches you the alphabet but I wish there was a bit more. I learned over quarantine and deleted but I’m downloading it again cause I forgot.

HandsOnASL would be great if it had more that just the alphabet. It really could have been amazing.

Wow!! What a very engaging way to learn ASL. I love the high score aspect. It pushes me to want to learn more, so that I can beat my previous score!! Truly an amazing app!
