I’m an artist so I need extra income. Been with Caviar a year and the pay continues to go down. I live in SF so volume is high, but the bonuses never seem to come, they route bikes as if we have engines, poor support team, glitchy app, ever changing pay. Basically this a type of ponzy scheme of referring new recruits There is no incentive to get better at the job as raises, seniority, competence is not valued or rewarded here. Couriers have no metric on their performance to even getter better. It’s simply plugging holes in the employment turn over with the cheapest version of a worker. The algorithms used can easily produce whatever average pay they want a courier to have the whole network wide. All the while the pay scale shifts around daily, the bonuses dip and dive. This drought and “deluge” cycle conditions the mind to chase more feverishly and agree with whatever crumbs given. Our actions are being dictated by an impersonal algorithm that keeps in mind it’s bottom line only. It does this flawlessly and the needle on our income ticks down over time. The economic chasm between the couriers and the customer widens and the courier slides ever deeper into their preordained lower cast in society. The courier drives around after the dangling carrot that is always just over the horizon. Escape from the belly of the tech ghost ASAP!

Though apps like this makes for somewhat of a reasonable way to get some extra money and this is somewhat one of them. My biggest concern, much like with other related services, is that there are some customers(especially those that are towards the top floors of multi-floored buildings and living spaces) that are tad too lazy and/or inconsiderate to wait in their respective lobbies or outside from their building. This becomes very tedious considering that there are times that some couriers(if not all) end up with multiple orders at any given timing. I feel that all customers should be encouraged to at least take this into full consideration, even if the restaurant they order from is close by their drop off location. I’m only speaking from experience as a bicycle courier for Caviar and other related services that I work with. If you guys can follow this suggestion amongst other concerned couriers of CaviarCourier, that would make things so much more better for everyone, I feel.
Mar 1, 2020 Update: Could expand on further locations; it would be nice to do some deliveries in the San Leandro/Fremont area of California. From this I could see it could do good for business and couriers alike!

They need to fix their situations with their restaurants & the customers calling the restaurant, telling me things like the order is cancelled, trying to reach the customer, then the customer can say they didn’t get the order. LIES & I am just the third party here showing up all the way at the restaurant for this type of clown show & guess who gets blamed for it? Yep, you guessed it. As if I am so simple minded I lie like a little child & of course, it’s me, right? None of these other people were anything less than 100 percent..? Their customer service was actually bad bc when I got the call (the the people working at the restaurant probably ate the food), I told them the truth, that the restaurant told me the order was canceled, now I’m communicating with them & asking them what I should do? I chatted bc all we can do is live chat in a text & always get a bunch of pass off responses that solve nothing. I’ve emailed several times asking how I can fix this & that I really don’t appreciate their weird callers pointing fingers at me & his lack of service, it was so simple minded & have not been respected with any response back. Same crappy issues, feeling like ur talking to the mob, no customer service & a bunch of ladles in the pot. It was me, of course. I did it all. (Not).

I haven't been on many deliveries with Caviar, three reason mostly being that the deliveries I have been on have NOT been paid. CaviarCourier said that they payouts have been failed. When I enquired about this Caviars support said that somehow my payout account has been closed as of a particular date. This seems funny as I use this account each and every day and have for several years. Though out of an abundance of caution I looked into the issue with the bank and was assured that my account was very much active. Having gone back to the Caviar support, I still haven't received any response from them regarding the payout of my money.
This is beginning to seem like a heist on the part of caviar and I'm unsure if I'll every do another delivery for caviar because 1. Their support is worthless, they don't pay attention to the issue at hand and seem to only seem to answer with scripted rebuttals.
2. They seem very dishonest and it looks to me as though they delay payouts until you give up. (Though I will not and there are legal remedies )
3. The payouts are very very very low and bonuses are imposable to get.
If you've read this far then do yourself a favor and RUN!

I been a courier for almost 4 year with Caviar and since about 3/4 months CaviarCourier has gone to trash, to accept a job i get a error message so i have to force to open and closed, most of the tone same story to drop off; and in top of that they only provided they new look of CaviarCourier to certain couriers, half of my friends got this new version of CaviarCourier where they see how much they made right on he home screen and it actually provide them a full detailed explanation if their earnings throughout the month; starting to make me wonder if it is a favoritism thing since we are all supposed to get the same version from CaviarCourier store, but hey thats not the case only a few get the new look while the rest doesnt, in top of that now you cant even logg off CaviarCourier , when will this change?; is it because DoorDash the famous app for stealing tips took over it?

Don't bother unless you are absolutely desperate and have literally no other options. Complete waste of time. Stressful. App NEVER works right and "support" is a joke. They won't respond to you fast enough on live chat to be of any help and if you email them they never even respond. Pay is extremely low per order and they don't give you much time to pick them up once you accept. They often send you on orders that are already late and were given to someone else initially so you will almost always have to rush and then deal with attitude. Bonuses are a scam, they will make sure somehow that you never get them. If you get close you will magically stop getting orders all together. You might make a few bucks here and there but it's definitely not worth all the work you put in and there's no way anyone could support themselves on this income alone.

I think caviar needs to tighten up with the base pay its drivers out here that’s willing to deliver with caviar but to get paid base pay is always low it’s not right also why not expand caviar everywhere instead of just downtown and other areas caviar needs a lot of work please fix also I have waited over two hours for tips that not professional at all when every driver works hard it’s Also wrong for caviar to let the customer change there tip price once food is delivered I feel that’s very wrong once that person set a tip amount it should never be touched how do you guys think drivers feel about this you have people that drive 45 minutes for 7 bucks for there tip to be nothing come on now a lot things are not right with caviar I’m upset

I am not one to write reviews. I felt this was necessary if I can prevent just one person from wasting their time on such a sham and waste of time. DO NOT DELIVER FOR CAVIAR they have terrible driver support they don’t pay fair wages even during premium hours and you cannot cancel orders. It’s ridiculous to think that you spend almost an hour waiting for food on a Saturday night to be continuously lied to and held hostage by support telling you to wait it out while they “attempt” to contact the restaurant. This company is no different from Uber or any other greedy cheap circus driven by pirate “slave owners”. I say that because they treat their “employees” as such. You will not matter, you will not be paid fairly, and you will waste a lot of time you can’t get back. Just say no.

I have been working with them for 3 years. I make the most with them with the least amount of effort. I average about $10 per delivery after bonuses and tips. Best support by far. The drawback are there are restaurants that just do a poor job with deliveries bc they don’t care. Caviar should drop those restaurants, or give them direction on how to improve. I also want to know if the courier app works with the apple watch? anyone know?

App crashes every 10 seconds when open ever since this update...

Roughly 500 deliveries now and I barely receive deliveries. So far compared to other apps, this is starting to look like the least paying one for car jobs and I’m disappointed so far. I’ll make 125 on a good day, postmates I’m making 200+ on a regular day with the same amount of hours I put out.. hopefully this will change

App crashes and freezes a lot with iPhone X , people receive same order twice before it goes to another account. Almost impossible to make good money

CaviarCourier has never functioned correctly and I’ve been delivering for them for over 2 years. There are issues with bugs in CaviarCourier and connection issues (even when I have full service and my other apps work fine) CONSTANTLY. Whenever it gets updated there is always some issue that makes it worse. Getting an update for CaviarCourier shouldn’t make it worse. The programmers for CaviarCourier seem to be pretty bad at what they do. They need some people that actually know what they are doing.

Caviar deliveries barely make you income and almost cuts close to breaking even between gas and mileage.
A year of using CaviarCourier -
It always crashes while doing a delivery or slows down when i need a address or the customers contact info. I figured my own way how to work CaviarCourier but you think if your making the money for them (caviar) shouldn't they make it easier for us to do it, the only way of working?? Through CaviarCourier ? Nope of corse not.

In areas the coverage of service goes out and CaviarCourier crashes.

When chatting with their customer support through CaviarCourier , sometimes it crashes then who your talking to cuts you off and says "looks like were set here since your not responding" after you open up the chat that was closed due to crash!

This is a job for those that are not legal in the USA . They pay less then 15/hr . No tips from clients. And restaurants don’t respect the Cavier courier ! Don’t waste your time or energy with this company . Unless your homeless . Constantly dropping the pay which comes out of no where , they reserve the right to pay you less . It will put you in the poor house! The payment app is also owned by the company (Cashapp) so when they pay you , you get taxed as well . Don’t waste your time or put your family thru this

Coming from postmates, caviar is amazing. I just would appreciate if CaviarCourier allow me to Automatically transfer the address to the pick up and drop off location via 3 party app. As of now I have to manually put it in a 3 party app, it’s time consuming! Then most of the trips be 2.6 miles away that’s 5.2 miles away not including have to get to the restaurant! 😈

Working with Caviar is great!! I love the freedom.

The pay is ok once you learn how to do the job efficiently, with great bonuses. Good live chat support & good app.

You can make this a stable part time/full time job, or just use it for extra side $$$. Its fun to explore your city and get to know cool local restaurants.
