Amazing Security Practices

I don’t usually leave reviews, but this is one app I feel I need to write a review for. Even before being a network security student, I needed a better password manager than Dashlane, so I went searching and found MYKI. I was a little skeptical at first since this was a company I had never heard of before, but I did some research and I decided to give it a try. I have never thought of using another password manager and I never plan to. Now that I’m a cyber security student, I know I made the right choice. I never agreed with the idea of my passwords being stored in the cloud since that brings a much wider and more accessible attack vector for hackers, but with MYKI being on-device, you never have to worry about that. Because everything is stored on-device and not sent to any server, the only person with access to your passwords is you. The only way someone will be able to get access is if they have physical access to your device. Having a zero-knowledge and zero-trust architecture is also an amazing security practice to have. On top of that, it also runs on a decentralized architecture which is just icing on the cake. Plus, being almost completely free and having great encryption at rest and in transit makes MYKI a no-brainier. Being widely compatible with multiple OS’s and browsers makes MYKI even more of a no-brainer. For these reasons, I completely trust MYKI over the other competitors and don’t plan on switching anytime soon.

Great password manager!

I’ve been tested three password managers and I’m really enjoying the user experience of Myki. First off, LassPass is a great product and I’d recommend it, but it would not install correctly on my mother’s Mac laptop so I tried Dashlane and then Myki. Dashlane would not install because her OS is too old. Myki installed completely on her computer. I haven’t figured out how to make it work with the Safari browser so I had her using Chrome instead. I’m trying to wean her off her unreliable paper system. So far so good!

I love that I can use a PIN to launch Myki instead of a master password. If your smart device supports finger print identification, then I understand that MYKI can use that. The passwords are backed up locally on your computer instead on the cloud so if storing sensitive information on the cloud is a concern, MYKI is a good alternative. I have the passwords backed up on at least three computers. The auto login works much better on MYKI than on LassPass. Backing up and syncing are mostly automatic. All in all, a great product!

Password Manager with Cross Platform

Been using it for 3 months now it’s amazing how usable this can be versus others. I am not a fan of Cloud methodology for password management especially with multiple security data breach and how screw you can be when the organisation that you trust decide to to keep to themselves about loss of data due to their mishap. It could be you start realised how come the password you looking for have gone missing. Anything that I can control my data and where I store it is one for me. Coming from 1Password, using sync with Dropbox is of the past. I will not say autofill integration is better than 1Password but in terms of how much cross platform you get can get kills it plus with no additional costs.
Other than that it does not support attachment, new categories you add will not appear on browser extension. It still a great tools to have.

Almost there!

Myki is almost the perfect password manager. For $10 you get all pro features is quite a steal and really good to get you to start using a really well made password manager. Yet a few things really made me stop using MYKIAuthenticator.

First, even though MYKIAuthenticator is supported on almost all browsers, it really only “worked” on Chrome for me. I am an Opera user and yes I understand that it’s not a super popular browser but it shouldn’t be a completely different app based on what browser I’m using and if you say you support Opera, please actually support it and not just give us a watered down version. The 2FAfeature doesn’t work in Opera and it locked me out of sites because I couldn’t auth the browser.

Second, the CSV import system just does not work. I tried to export my passwords from Dashlane and for some reason would never save 80% of the passwords I tried to import even when the importer would recognize everything it needed to import the passwords.

Finally, it just doesn’t have a all of the features that I am looking for in a password manager. The 2FA feature is really cool, yet not being able to change your password through the manager or not having auto login like other password managers have are real turnoffs.

Once these two features are addressed I would gladly try this service again. I love Dashlane but is really expensive for what it is and think this could be a better alternative to it.

What a refreshing change from its competitors

In all honesty, I was first drawn to MYKIAuthenticator for its privacy features and that it doesn’t keep my data in the cloud. In fact, it doesn’t even have access to my passwords and secure information, except for some metadata it needs to keep my information synched between my devices.

But I quickly fell in love with all the other features it has, not to mention it’s actually fun to use. The UX is great, but for my aging eyes, the UI could be a little easier to read...some of the fonts are tiny and/or difficult to read against the black background. E.g., the dark gray search icon should be white.

But I’m more than willing to put up with a little bit of bad to have all the good MYKIAuthenticator provides. Here’s a real world example. Out of the 114 logins I used on 1Password, over 17 of them will not autofill. In Myki, only two are problematic.

Another area in which MYKIAuthenticator excels is support. Using Myki is a paradigm shift from other password managers and it take some time to acclimate. I received very fast and professional replies to the few initial questions I had...something that’s not often seen these days.

Overall, I’m extremely happy with Myki, and it is very reasonably priced, as opposed to an expensive subscription.

Would be AMAZING if they listened

I’ve been using MyKi for quite a while now and I really appreciate some of the core features. I love that the data is not stored in the cloud. And I love that it is cross platform. However, the overall experience with this application is rather disappointing.

Many bugs continue to persist that have been existent for months; I even reached out about one of them. The experience on iPhone is meh at best due to frequent sync failures; I do love the MFA notification, though. I also use the safari browser extension (well the one coupled with the Mac App) and let me tell you that it is HORRIBLE. It literally just stops working in Safari all the time. It won’t pop up the fill icon in password or email input fields. Furthermore, it doesn’t ask to save new passwords. I have used the Chrome version as well, and none of these issues seem to exist. What gives?

I love MYKIAuthenticator and I love the mindset behind it. However, a large amount of bugs that continue to exist make using MYKIAuthenticator a pain, and honestly, no better than any other password manager.

My hope is that someone, somewhere will see this and realize that this product has potential, but more effort needs to be put into creating new features and fixing current issues, rather worrying about what shade of green the logo is.

I’m optimistic things can get better - let’s hope they do! Cheers

Excellent Password Manager

I definitely recommend paying to get the upgraded version. It’s a one time charge, not recurring. The desktop app is a great addition, but does have some strange tendencies. I was unable to open the desktop app, and had to reinstall several times. I finally went into the settings and turned off “Open on launch” and “Open in Background” and that seems to have solved my issues. Although this was a major frustration for several days, I’m not deducting any stars because the support team is excellent! Quick response and they keep working until your issue is resolved. They even follow up to make sure everything is continuing to work correctly too!

Great app

I’ve been using Myki for over a year and have had a very good experience with it. I appreciate that it helps me keep track of my passwords, rates how strong they are, and reminds me to change them. I also like that it has the ability to save a secure note so I can save things that don’t fit into the password format.

There’s only one small glitch I’ve encountered. When you’re looking at the area that rates the strength of your passwords, if you update one to make it stronger, the strength rating doesn’t immediately update and you have to back out of that area and go back in to see the new strength rating. A minor inconvenience.

Has Potential, BUT Too Risky to Trust

I really wanted to like MYKIAuthenticator. Here’s my story:

I paid for all services, then created the account and added passwords. Seemed all good till I accidentally locked myself out my phone and had to clear the phone as new and then upload from iCloud. Everything went well except MYKIAuthenticator. The most important app! Even my old password system (Keeper) kept all my other passwords and RE-uploaded them. The reason I was going away from keeper was the yearly cost. Guess I’ll just use a note Doc in iCloud. I tried using this system again but every time I tried to save a new password is crashes and closed. Ugh! Frustrating! Only thing that did work was the link to allow me write a review. All this extra fancy password savers is just not reliable. I can’t even get good customer service response. Don’t waste your money.

Using for over a year

I am very happy with the program and the confidence that it gives me in protecting not only passwords but credit cards also. Generally I do not like support that I can’t talk to a live person however that being said they are very responsive not only in speed but in the knowledge of the product. There are some features that I would like and from what I have been told are coming pretty soon like more categories on the desktop version. All in all I highly recommend this program over some others that are a lot more expensive. Do yourself a favor and get rid of the scraps of paper with passwords and use this program instead! Way more secure!!

Great Password Manager and Love the Security

I was sceptical at first but after trying it out for about a month now, I can say I love using Myki. It's really nice to know that my passwords are stored encrypted locally on my own phone rather than have my passwords stored on someone else's server. It's very nice. It works great for what I need it to do. There are some feature I would like to see. There are also some tiny bugs that the developers are working on but I don't blame them since they are a start-up company. Only thing that I would like to see is an automatic backup feature that I can see coming in the future. In the end Myki is a great password manger and I will continue to use it. Great app guys!

Could be more useful with multi browser support

This tool is indespensable. I’d be screwed with out it.
However, it’s nasty that I cannot install/configure this for a second browser on my laptop as I use both edge and chrome. I would also like to use it on ie browser on my work laptop. As far as I can determine I must not just lock the other devices, but delete them from my profile before I can configure a new device.

It still works as a convenient safe wallet on my iPhone so I can manually look up my usernames and passwords for the sites I use.

By far the best password manager I’ve used

I’ve used a lot of password managers. Like, A LOT a lot. MYKI is the only one that I’ve stuck with. It’s one of the few that I really can use everywhere, including Linux VMs that I use, that is also easy to use while remaining secure. The fact that I am in control of my data, not MYKI, is what brought me to MYKIAuthenticator to begin with. Ease of use and real universality of availability (and the ability to share the Netflix password with my son without him having to know what it is) keeps me here. This is the only app that has ticked all the boxes for me.

Store your data securely

I like the fact that MYKIAuthenticator uses passwords that is in my iPhone which i believe is secure enough for me.
Several things i would like to see in MYKIAuthenticator : export encrypted backup via iOS share sheet; add ability to password protect encrypted backups; ability to use Yubikey with MYKIAuthenticator ; adding id from iOS photo library (currently Myki app forces to take picture for your ID); log out from browser extension after certain time of inactivity (5,10,15 mins).

Other than that, it’s an awesome app; highly recommended! Thanks for devs to develop such app.

Excellent!

I have been looking for a password manager that was less expensive than the yearly fee of almost $36 that I am now paying for another password manager. I read the Myki reviews and installed it. So far, I think I have found what I want! I haven’t learned everything about it yet, but I’m getting there. I have seen some negative reviews about Myki from users who got easily upset when something didn’t work as they expected. Please, just take the time to learn how it works. And the support staff is great, responding promptly to my questions!
