It could be that I’m holding my phone incorrectly when Ruler ‘surveys the world, but I’m getting wildly inaccurate results. As one person suggested, I made sure I didn’t have zoom set on my phone. I really like Ruler concept. The other issue I have is seeing the measurements. They are small, and they disappear when I touch ‘end’.

Took me a few mins to figure out why Ruler didn't match a physical this app. It's because my iPhone is normally in Zoomed mode. You'd think Ruler could compensate for it, but maybe Apple doesn't provide a way to do so. In any case, this only works if you use a standard (non-zoomed) display.
Otherwise, great concept and probably handy to have once you get the hang of it.

thanks for your answer. But I already have the 2 applications. but I would like to join the 2 applications in a single application.
Please, I could put the rule back on the screen. It is very useful to have a this app on the screen to measure screws, nuts and many other things.

I have been playing around with this and it's pretty handy actually since I don't usually need more than estimated distance nothing precise like hanging pictures etc but I got this because I was DYING to know how the watch app was adding to it....don't know yet. Still just shows a yellow screen with in/cm on one end and "Keep" on the other but the big 0.0 in the center does nothing.
If I am missing something I'd love to know I was really hoping you could at the bare minimum maybe see your measurements changing in that as you play finger-slinky trying to contort around to keep the phone str8, and at BEST able to lay your arm like on a door frame and move up and watch it tick off inches. I had a app on the phone that somehow did that using the GPS and gyro / motion coprocessor I think. Well if anybody knows the suspense is really not killing me

Might have older version.. mine crashes when I reset during measurements .. itchy but works well otherwise

Seems the latest release is broken on some devices. Developer was kind enough to let me know that functions in new version require better processor.

This was the best app of the several that I tried using augmented reality measuring. It loads instantly and is kept to the most basic features. You have to be careful where your end points lay within three dimensional space, but you can get really accurate measurements with some practice and an understanding of how Ruler works.

Ruler is very useful. One note, results are visible during measuring. then they seem to be tied to the middle of the line. when measuring long distances, hard to find the final number. it would be helpful to see the result as a value somewhere on the screen independent of the measuring configuration.

Not a bad idea. But if you want accurate measurement to the 1/8 of an inch or a few mm, I don't think it's doable. There two places that can cause the error: 1. How firm you can hold your finger on the phone in reference to the object you're measuring; 2. How linear you can move the phone over the distance you are measuring.

Not sure I would trust Ruler if I needed to be completely accurate but I'm still in practice mode so I can't in all good conscience give Ruler a low score. What I have discovered so far is that this electronic tape measure is super good in a pinch and I can see it being very useful since most of us always have our smart phones handy. All in all, I think this is a clever app/a clever idea. Kudos to the Dev(s)! 😊

I got Ruler on a whim just to see what it did. After I ran Ruler , I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was actually pretty useful. I have The TONS of apps that I try out and, more often than not, I'm usually disappointed in their functioning. Not this one. This one I'll be keeping.

The only constructive criticism I will offer is the location of set point and end. It’s hard to reach while holding your device. Moving it to the center or left side would make it more user friendly. Otherwise, a great app!

I’ve had Ruler since it 1st came out & it makes measuring things like walls/wall hangings so much easier! Also, I had to buy a new shoelace last minute but had no idea how long it needed to be so I just used this handy app & there was no guessing or returns necessary!

I’m a 50yo single female homeowner and do all my own appliance purchasing and repairs. I’m not particularly tech savvy and Ruler is so very cool and easy to use. I don’t have to go downstairs for the measuring tape. Pull out my phone that’s always with me, take measurements, take a photo, go to store to buy replacement appliances, etc. love love love it

Gaining accuracy with Ruler does take a little practice, but I've measured 20+ feet with well under .5" of error. (Ruler gives you a way to unlock double the measuring distance.)
This is really for all those distances that would be hard to eyeball. (Is that 25" or 26"? Is that 7'6" or a bit more/less?) You probably aren't going to use it all that often, and it's certainly not the fastest way to measure ever invented, but it's easy and accurate and doesn't take any space in your pocket.

As I enjoy doing various DYI projects I use Ruler to get initial measurements to determine estimates and fits for either material and/or design use. Then I use a tape to measure, mark, and then cut to the accuracy I need for the situation. I view Ruler as another tool in the tool box, rather than a replacement for the physical tape itself.

You never know when you'll need a tape this app. This is very handy. You more than likely have your cell phone with at all times, if that be the case, then you'll always have a tape this app. Great to have.

THANK YOU for bringing back the older version of Ruler. I have the AR version on this iPhone & the older version on my iPad. Essentially I look at it as having two different tools for to different jobs.

I could not believe just how accurate this tool was. We were building / working on putting together three wooden shelf units down the basement and we had left the Rule / Square upstairs in the garage. I remembered Ruler did a quick measure and had Paul cut a 21 1/2 inch brace. He cut and grumbled and griped but Damm if it wasn't dead on.

This makes life so much easier, especially when you need to measure large rooms or rooms filled with obstructions! Also, now I never have to remember where my tape measure is (kids never put it back) as it’s always handy right here in my phone. A real time saver!
