Steamboat struggled with the success of the Ikon Pass this year. The increased crowds combined with the skeleton crew of employees often created a poor customer experience. Lots of ski areas have lines, but Steamboat had no infrastructure or plan to deal with them. The mazes are laughably small and the uphill capacity was overwhelmed nearly every weekend, leaving a free-for-all at the base of the lifts. The parking situation with limited shuttle buses was a disaster, and lodges were over capacity.
Steamboat needs some serious investment and some active management to handle these new crowds.
This season it really felt like they were caught off guard... for the whole season. That’s not right.
They need to do what they have to to hire the staff to deal with the crowds, (even if that means paying more), and have plans in place to provide the services needed to justify the expensive experience.
Bigger, well organized mazes (rememberer “front line” and trivia from the lifeguard chair at Sundown?)more uphill capacity (hopefully coming this summer), lodges with better flow and capacity, more well trained staff everywhere.
Next year will be a good test of the new ownership and management...

Powdercam is funny now. I can never tell how much snow we have received. The one on the left is cleared every day at 4pm. Sometimes the right stake stays uncleared for days or multiple storms. There is no more thermometer on the cam. The grooming report is up and down. We have often found that certain runs are highlighted and not actually groomed, and tother times that runs are groomed and not highlighted. Also, menus should be listed for all restaurants and bars. It’s incredibly hard to find the actual menu for restaurants on the mountain. The phone numbers also go to an Alterra phone bank vs local Steamboat lines. Over it has a lot of kinks to work out.

What a joke. New cars, faster, lower and wifi. What a joke. Should’ve torn down base of Gondola and outdated Thunderhead building. Don’t call it new when all you did was tune it up. And also run it to the top. No worries, where else are the locals going to ski? Oh yeah, on vacation at a “real resort.” Still love my boat, but don’t brag about something that most people won’t even notice. Still a ski area that charges ski resort prices. Shame on you IKON or whoever runs this ski area.

In the “Snow Report” page, at the bottom, if you scroll the screen up, under the “Mountain Report” section is something that looks like a link to another page, labelled “Snow Report”, but you can’t get to it; when you scroll that far then release, that link scrolls back off the page. I was hoping for a more detailed snow/weather forecast, perhaps something farther out than 3 days.
Also there is no way to contact SteamboatSkiandResort developer that I could see, other than reviews on SteamboatSkiandResort store.
I haven’t used SteamboatSkiandResort in a couple of years, was trying to use it in preparation for an upcoming trip. The version I used previously seemed quite good.

I use SteamboatSkiandResort virtually everyday. I get the grooming report when I ride up on the gondola. I check the temperatures to know what to wear before going. The only thing I have problems with is the tracking. It doesn’t show the correct number of runs or the correct number of days skiing. It shuts off when I go in a lodge and doesn’t come back on unless I remember to turn it back on. I also really like the snow cam. I wish they had a cam of the Meadows parking lot.

I have been to MANY places skiing but now I have a child that I have to think of. Steamboat is the most kid friendly place I have ever been but great for people with no kids. The skiing is fantastic. We have been back three years in a row. I have rented my skis from the same place every time. They are like a family. They have helped my son grow in is snowboarding. My son got a new snowboard for Christmas so we carried it to them to have bindings put on it. They where so amazing because each one would walk by and complement his new board. They where genuinely as excited about it as he was. I thought my son would enjoy going to a new place skiing this year but he said no because he feels like we are going to visit our friends in steamboat.

I have been taking my family to Steamboat for 20 years. We know the mountain very well so navigating the lifts is second nature. The food on the mountain is really good. The upgrade of Four Points hut a few years ago is a winner. Love, love Ragnar. Great place for mid-day respite and great food and service. The mountain is huge and we can ski a variety of conditions as we choose. Staff is always friendly and courteous. The Town has lots to see and do. We will go there as long as I can still ski. I’ve been to all the other ski resorts in Colorado and. In my opinion, Steamboat is a good as all others, better than some. Flying into,Hayden makes for an easy ride into, town.

We spent 3 days skiing Steamboat and utilized the ski school for our 5 and 7 year old daughters. Our girls had no skiing experience and were ready for the slopes after two days of school. Day 3 we went up the mountain as a family. My girls had a blast in ski school and learned so much. My older daughter had an instructor named Danica who really made the experience special for her. Steamboat is a wonderful family vacation!

This is my favorite spot in Colorado. Real town great people. The mountain is great for everyone. I have a special needs son and the stars program is fantastic. They make you feel a part of there family their family at stars. The base needs some maintenance but that is made up for with hospitality and great snow. Love that you can get just about anywhere on the mtn in three chairlift rides. Not a lot of traversing at Steamboat.

Great powder, most runs open, few people, we had a blast. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Biggest disappointment is that the “season” does not open until Dec 15 so that is when all the stuff we wanted to do- Hazies, sleigh ride dinner, snowmobiles, are not open. Oh well always next year! We love Steamboat and continue to return during ski season each year. SteamboatSkiandResort helps us stay in touch before and(sadly) after our vacation. Very informative- the snow cams are quite entertaining! Shopping and dining info. also a plus. I mean really, what is there not to love about Steamboat?

Our whole family rented a condo at steamboat for Thanksgiving. It was magnificent. The staff were friendly and helpful and accommodating. I forgot my gloves and one of the workers offered to loan me a pair of hers! It snowed 14 inches while we were there of the fluffiest powder I’ve ever seen. We will definitely be back.
