Amazing

WhatDogExperiment was just great at finding the breed of your dog. It was always interesting to find out what breed my dog was and other breeds it looked similar to. It is sad to see it go, but I hope they bring it back someday. Until then, you can use the website.

Please bring back this wonderful app.

WhatDogExperiment is pretty good. The web version doesn't have all the fun and functionality. Please bring the mobile version back!

Don’t waste your time

Why is this still available to download when “the experiment has ended”

By

Why is this app still here?

WhatDogExperiment links to a Bing search page, so don’t waste your time downloading it.

By

Bring this app back!

It was so much better!

By

Do not upgrade! The web version does not work on photos of people.

The whole point of this is to see what dog you are, right???

By

Terrible

Depending on the angle it gives all types of dogs. Works good on humans though.

Not even close

WhatDogExperiment is not accurate at all. I put my pitbull picture in, WhatDogExperiment thinks it’s a Whippet.

IT'S GOOD DESPITE THE OTHER REVIEWS!!

My dogs are little rescue puppies and when we got them we had no clue what they were. I found WhatDogExperiment and tried it out and it gave me one main option as well as several others on what they could be which was great! A lot of people are complaining though. Of course WhatDogExperiment needs to be updated, the interface is a bit dated. But the idea that WhatDogExperiment isn't 100% accurate it ridiculous. OF COURSE IT WON'T BE 100% CORRECT, YOU'RE ONLY SENDING IN A PICTURE NOT A DNA SAMPLE! This is the best free app there is no question it gives you all the information you need. If you want complete accuracy buy the $5.99 app or get your dog a DNA test!!

Works on my iPad 3, iOS 9; Doesn't work on my iPhone 5, iOS 10

I love the concept, but WhatDogExperiment wouldn't work on my phone. [See my update below.] I tried to take a picture with it, to even import a photo, but no response except for a sound effect of pushing the button. I checked out the "what-dog" website that WhatDogExperiment is based on, and that works just great. Please update WhatDogExperiment.

***

My update: WhatDogExperiment works great on my iOS 9 iPad 3. I guess it just either needs an update for iOS 10, or my iPhone 5 is just having a rough time with it. I'm glad I could see it working on my iPad. Thanks for the great app, Microsoft!

This app was a load of fun!

My kids and I had a fun half an hour with WhatDogExperiment. It was awesome. My daughter kept trying to fool it to no avail, it pegged her as human every time... Until she put her hair over her face and wore some cat ears. It recognized the cats, too, unless the lighting and framing was bad.

Sad it didn't have my American Bulldog Performance- or Scott-type dog, but too bad. Or mix breeds. It identified my dogs as AmStaff with a scary description of how strong and fierce they are (and they need to be behind a fence!) when they are the easiest-to-train and friendliest dogs I have ever been responsible for.

Not always accurate, but who cares?

I downloaded WhatDogExperiment knowing that it wouldn't always be accurate, but I was still pleasantly surprised. Yes, it doesn't always correctly identify my chocolate lab, but it does usually at least list it in the top three options or so. But it still does really well for a mobile app, and you have to give Microsoft credit for how much they were able to accomplish. Add in things like its ability to do things like identify humans as dog breeds and other fun stuff, and I'd say WhatDogExperiment is worth any dog lover's while.

UPDATE OR REMOVE FROM STORE 😁😞😡

I don't usually take the time to give low ratings but these garage apps are useless to consumers if you don't update them. They are never going to even have the opportunity to become the next best app without updates. Plus I find it disappointing, frustrating and annoying that you would take up my time to research an app only to find out the last update was before IOS 10 or even years ago. I'm of the opinion you keep up the hard work and if you decide it is time to throw in the towel take it off the shelf. You don't leave it in the store and allow others to oogle at your mistakes. Thank you for letting me vent or rant. I'm truly disappointed 😞 this wasn't given more of your time.

Smarter than I thought it would be.

Yeah. I thought this was gonna be something dumb like that old google translate for pets app. Nope! It's extremely accurate so long you have a good quality photo and you don't take a blurry picture. Lots of fun when you take a blurry picture of a human though. "I believe this is not a dog" made us crack up so much. Even though you rarely see Havanese, WhatDogExperiment immediately said "I believe this is a Havanese." I'm really impressed. I hope to see more cool apps like this soon.

🐕 Lol it's great 🐩

You can't seriously think an app will guess your who-knows-what mutt accurately?? Did you expect some Houdini-magic??

And also; Of course WhatDogExperiment won't have every dog breed on the planet. It also depends on the lighting and the angle you take your photo.
Look, honestly, this is very good for an app that just analyzes your dog's photo and matches it with bing images. I have 2 Siberian Huskys and I did my white puppy who was looking out the window.

Know what she got? Dogo Argentino and Eskimo Dog. That's pretty good.
And I love how it gives you facts about different dog breeds! Great source of quick-information!

I rated it 4 stars because my dog had a fairly thinner face than a Dogo Argentino and she had a visibly curlier tail and pointy ears.
Still, Dogo Argentino and Eskimo Dog were very good and close guesses.

It recognizes color more imo, to stop the 2.4 stars it could recognize bodily structure and different poses of it, too.

Great for General info!

I have an idea what kind of breed my dog was but could never put two and two together. I feel like WhatDogExperiment is definitely for fun but also gives you a high probability of the type of breed you have on your hands. Just be aware not all breeds are currently available for identification so you may get an off result if you have a special or uncommon breed, but all in all I'm very satisfied!! 4 stars!! Every app can use improvement! Add more breeds and possibility for mixed breeds?!

The software needs work

There should be something that can identify the pictures you already used and utilize them to improve the accuracy. I tried 10 different pictures to match my husky/wolf/German shepherd. She has the body structure of a husky, the size of a wolf and the black saddle of a shepherd to put it in general terms. So I was expecting any northern breed dog as an answer. Instead I get 1 100% match to a chihuahua, 3 90% to a Pembroke welsh corgi, 2 border collies (my dog has a thick medium coat, nothing like the long coat of a collie), 1 match to a shiba inu (close...?), 2 matches for a husky (finally??) and 1 match to a German shepherd. 3/10 pictures, all included her whole body and were in good lighting- different pictures but the same position.

What dog do you look like?

Excuse me, what happened to WhatDogExperiment ? I want to see what dog I look like and I can’t. Why did you take it away? Wasn’t that the point of WhatDogExperiment ? Why would you do that? I’m giving you 3 stars because WhatDogExperiment is good but now there is no longer WhatDogExperiment , why? WHY? I want to see what dog my friends look like! I can’t see the ones from previously so please bring WhatDogExperiment back.

Wow, Didn’t expect that tbh.

I think that WhatDogExperiment is mostly accurate. It took a while for it to get my dogs breed, but that’s because the photos had to be 100% clear. If they are a mixed breed then they are pretty hard to discover, I tried it with a few photos that weren’t actually dogs and it still gave me some results and sometimes it didn’t.

I think it’s cool that WhatDogExperiment just scans over a picture and notices features that belong to your dog, it also tells the history of your dog but some of the info is wrong. Like the height of some dogs are usually taller or smaller than the average number.

it also had some glitching in the start that prevented me From choosing a photo.

I recommend taking more than one image of your dog and I think it’ll be accurate.

Overall, it’s good and pretty accurate.

Thank you and Bye!
