Good insight but

Updated version too long. Had the original which, as noted, stopped working. But I liked it better, quicker to the important point. Watched & shared it often. Any chance you might put up the original also?

Neat

Genius little old app.

Interesting

Good read and an interesting experiment. Gave me pause afterward to think about the format and the content, which alone makes me enjoy it more than I thought I would.

When you lose your compass come back to this

Thought provoking. Imaginative meld of very very short essay and new media. You must read Robin's "Mr Penumbra's 24 Hour Book Store". Robin, we want more!!

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!

I've clicked through this several times and don't plan on quitting anytime soon. Genius.

Good words, like good food take time…

While I might be biased, it would seem no one reads for content anymore. Instead, articles are scanned for confirmation of opinions.

This essay takes a bit of work to enjoy. Challenge yourself; take a moment to enjoy pure communication.

Much thanks to the author, Robin Sloan.

Brilliant

Simple, brilliant, focused. One of my all-time favorite apps.

Insanely great.

Brilliant execution. Reminds of The this app by Elizabeth Bishop.

Here again

I’ve downloaded Fish today, again, after a couple of years after reading it for the first time. I guess I love it. Also, it’s great you included your little story at the end. It brings this to the present somehow. I totally recommend looking at your this app as a therapy. Thanks!

This is definitely worth downloading!

Lel GG WP. XD

How come there aren't more things like this?

2024-06-24

A single serving story to be shared and read again (though clearly I need to invest in a copy of the brave companions)

Look at your fish

2024-06-24

This is a thought provoking app that is a guided exploration of a concept that I don't know if my over stimulated brain is capable of describing sufficiently. The content of Fish is high quality, and I liked it enough to experience it more than once. It could be better of course; it's not optimized for new retina iPad screens.

But really. It's about the content.

A new genre, an important point

Robin is an incredible writer and he has created a delightful experience to make his case about what it truly means to love something on the Internet. The whole piece, the writing and presentation, is immersive and transfixing, yet so simple. Just download and get tapping, what are you waiting for?

Will read again more than twice

If "loving" something means returning to it multiple times, as this essay suggests, I can safely say I love this essay. The ending was striking and beautiful. This is a this app I would like to look at over and over again.

I reread this every year

2024-06-28

At least once a year sonething reminds me of this. I think I have had a copy on my phone since it was first released in 2012 and I’m so glad it got updated to fit newer ios versions. I highly recommend this as a short but deeply thought-out piece to consider what we do with our time and attention in the high speed “internet age.”

Look at your fish.

This should be the introductory walkthrough when you turn on an iPhone for the first time. To navigate the world through an Internet-enabled device, you need these lessons.

Why download an essay app?

2024-06-24

...because you'll read this one more than once. Applicable for the trivial content on the Internet, but more importantly, the happenings of life.

Look At Your Fish

2024-06-24

Amazingly insightful, thoughtful, and…maybe ironically, worth your time. Robin does a great job of exploring how we think about the media we consume today, and this essay seems a meaningful bellwether to our relationship with the Internet.

Beautiful little app

This is a 2012 app refreshed for 2018. A short, thought provoking essay for today’s times. Enjoy!

Love

I love Fish. I have returned to it once again. It is inspiring and leaves me feeling that I am on a path that is too hurried, too frenetic. Slow down. Look. Look. Return. Thanks, Robin!
