Not so great

GravyEvents was designed fairly well but the content is really not so great. It's full of happy hours at tons local restaurants or bars. Happy hour at Ruby Tuesday's? Seriously? I'm familiar with many of the Restaurants, and I know that they don't even have happy hours. This is just another way for the restaurant to spread their name. GravyEvents needs some way for people to keep the vendors honest. Even if there really were happy hours, that's hardly what I come to GravyEvents for. Try switching emotions and guess what... Right, the happy hours are still there. I switched to classy and found a farmers market. So much for that feature. It's the 4th of July and I can only find two or three things that are relevant. There are also a lot of events that say "closed today- happy Fourth of July". Is that supposed to be an event? Why is Gravy letting those things on here? This is just another advertising app. There's a lot more out there to do, but Gravy doesn't do much to seek that out.
Love the idea, hate the app

Great concept, pretty app. Dumb limitations. I have been using it since the beginning and sometimes it gets stuck on a recurring meeting. I had two monthly meeting that GravyEvents thought were daily starting in late May and there is no way to correct that in GravyEvents . They were not that way on my actual calendar, so it is caching something that you can't correct. On an iPhone, two bogus meetings scrolls all the valuable info off the screen. I lived with that, though. Running location services all the time drains my battery and there are no app settings to let you configure this, all you can do is turn off its access to location services completely. That, I couldn't live with. I would like GravyEvents ...if it worked.
Battery Hog

It's pretty good at showing a good variety of events nearby, but GravyEvents is a battery hog. I discovered it was using over a third of my battery power for the past month, even though I only opened GravyEvents once. Be sure to go to settings and turn off any data - including location services- running in the background. You only need it to run while you are in GravyEvents .
Hmm. What happened?

Hi. I love Gravy Events. Not a fan of the latest version. Please lose the photos, make them tiny, or simplify them. They have always crowded out the full title of the event and donβt always correctly convey the type of event going on. I love that you can pick a range of dates. Thank you.
I use Gravy when my family has no plans and we don't feel like poring through local newspapers for information. It's quick, it's easy to tailor, and it's great on the go. We found out about events that were happening nearby that we otherwise would have missed. Thanks, Gravy! Keep the events coming!
I like it

I live in a downtown vicinity - and it's really helpful to open it up really quickly and see what's going on, especially the live music. It's quick and easy to use. I don't think it picks up absolutely everything, it'd be cool if there were more happy hour events on there. But all in all its a solid app I will continue to use!
Handy for finding nearby activities

Very handy. One suggestion: pls remember where I am in the list when I close out the details. It's annoying having to scroll through the list over and over again.
Works great for exploring

Been using GravyEvents for over a year now and there is always something new - directions, channels, social vibe - now a new map based exploring feature. Like social vibe - its fun to just see what's out by moving around the map , changing the date, changing moods. Headed to SF soon for a weekend trip, it was great to see what's going on that weekend. "San Francisco" didn't quite get me to where we plan to stay and play- but it was easy to move around on the map and zoom into those events within reasonable walking distance or cab ride from our hotel
As for the complaints about Happy hours - I only see HH under the lively mood and not that many so not sure what others saw. Maybe they changed something. One area for improvement - can't set a search location on a channel , so I couldn't see music channel events in sf, only at home. It will work when I get there I assume but can't see them now. ..............from an earlier road trip
Was in Salem Oregon on way to OSU for Mother's weekend. Our 19 year old college student was short of ideas of what to do with Mom when we got there. Hit GravyEvents and quickly picked out 6 things that looked integrating - 4 of them at OSU. Tapped on address for map and directions. Tapped event image for social vibe pics and reviews. Learn more helped too. We eliminated 2 things to do because they were a little out of the way and we had limited time Had a great time at the 3 events we had time to make.
Great way to find local things to do!

I believe GravyEvents is destined to become one of those must-have apps on everyone's smart phone. I use it regularly to find local bands and entertainment. In fact, just found a cool band in a local pub about a mile from me that meets weekly that I was totally unaware of before using GravyEvents. Also, it can be used for any type of meeting or event besides entertainment: political, communal, board meetings, grand openings, hobby & special interest groups, dance, and more. There is far more event information provided by GravyEvents than can be gained from any newspaper or other single source. It's amazing that all this information is in one quick & easy to use app. Each event includes time and distance from you, the user, optional alerts, and other important or descriptive information. I have already shared with 30 of my friends.
Ok so I think I finally found the one app I will use everyday. Well second (still love Facebook). But the alerts telling me when ton leave based on traffic hooked me! Also the ability to add locations to my planned appointments in GravyEvents really helped me discover some really cool events.
Wish it would allow me to know even more things like deals or future sales but so far it's great for me.
Gravy has got it!

Love the new features; definitely better content and more content appearing each time I use it. The channels are great and I love how I can discover upcoming events not just where I am but where I may feel like traveling to! And when I am out of town, I don't have to feel bombarded with all these crazy websites to find something unique, it's all here in one convenient place.
Awesome App

GravyEvents is incredible. It pulls together all the concerts, events, specials at bars, museum talks - everything - going on. It even tells me how long it'll take for me to get there given current traffic, then sends me an alert telling me when to leave my house to arrive on time. You can also easily put an event and all the details into the calendar of your phone.
Found a nearby kid event on vacation

I've been complaining overall how hard it is to find great kid activities to do. This time, I'm in Miami, Florida and went to search the web. 20 minutes later I gave up. Went to App Store, found Gravy using kid fun keywords, used GravyEvents , and am now on my way to the kid event that looks great and is 500 yards away, 5 minutes later. Great app!
