This BlackBird thing is a game changer. Before I found BlackBirdAir and this company, I had come to see air travel as something equally annoying as driving. In traditional passenger aviation, you can never fly anywhere direct, and the baggage and security processes are a nightmare. With BlackBird, I fly where I want when I want FOR HOW MUCH I WANT!!! And BlackBirdAir couldn’t be easier. I feel like a rich person with my own private charter, except I often pay less than I would for a drive of the same length and definitely less than traditional air travel, plus the convenience is amazing. I live in the Bay Area and you know how bad driving is if you’re trying to get away for the weekend. Anyway, this company and BlackBirdAir have changed my life and I couldn’t say enough good things. It is perfectly legal for you to use BlackBirdAir and lease an airplane. The moment a pilot not certified accepts money for the ride, he or she is breaking the law. Good news for you who lease the plane, you’ll probably only be mixed up in an FAA enforcement action against the pilot, which shouldn’t take up more than a few years of your time.

“In sum, the FAA has concluded that pilots' use of the Black:Bird platform constitutes "holding out" and participating pilots are engaged in common carriage. Because these operations are subject to part 119 certification, a pilot who holds an airline transport pilot or commercial pilot certificate must obtain and hold a certificate issued under part 135 or the pilot must be employed by a company operating the flight that is certificated under part 119.”

The above information is now officially the FAA’s legal opinion which in layman’s terms means, “Pilots flying these flights are doing so illegally and the FAA can investigate the issue.” “Investigate” in FAA speak is, “the Pilot most likely begins with surrendering their pilot Certification”.

I took a flight from San Carlos to Palm Springs on a Saturday morning and it was the best decision I ever made. No lines, no hassle, no checking in, just a really pleasant experience and a luxurious one at that. It was an 8 seater plane and a very smooth ride with amazing views. The pilot made us feel safe and made us feel like true valued customers.

BlackBirdAir was easy to use and support checked in with me along the way. I felt really taken care of. I think they upgraded BlackBirdAir because it looks absolutely beautiful as well.

This was a once in a life time experience I highly suggest. The price point was just right and worth every penny. I can’t wait for my next blackbird flight :)

Blackbird is the most amazing way to travel. Still can’t believe this service exists. BlackBirdAir is so easy to use and customer service is on it no matter the question. On the day of travel, you arrive at a private airport, literally walk right onto the plane, no waiting, no lines and pretty good coffee most days ;). Have been flying from Bay Area to LA frequently and blackbird is saving me hours of time every week. Price is low and routes in California are plentiful. Looking forward to more routes opening up nationwide. Feels like aviation is finally joining the 21st century. Thank you Blackbird.

This was my first time traveling with Blackbird Air and it was an amazing experience. All the details were taken care of and all I had to do was show up to the tarmac on time (which isn’t always easy for me!). Captain David was incredibly professional and the crew took care of me like I was a VIP. Flying into Truckee there is usually some significant turbulence which the Captain warned us about and managed with ease. I felt very safe given that the aircraft is much smaller than what I’m used to. Given the price of the seat, Blackbird Air provided tremendous value and I will definitely be flying with them again.

This was my first time flying in a small aircraft out of a general aviation airport and I was delighted by both the ride and the ease of check-in. We literally showed up 15 minutes before our departure time and were ready for take off within minutes. The takeoff was smoother than I had anticipated, but I save my highest praise for the views. At 13,000 feet, we saw some amazing views of Silicon Valley, the Santa Cruz Mountains, and the California coastline! I can’t wait to share the experience with friends and family!

I flew round trip Oakland-Vegas a few weekends ago and had an amazing experience. From driving up to the terminal to being ready to board took 5 minutes. The flight was a true semi-private jet experience for less than the cost of a last minute commercial economy flight. Way better than first/business class on a commercial airline. Unbelievable value! I can’t recommend this service highly enough. Taking anything else just wouldn’t make any sense

I got a text message as I was walking into work this morning saying that they were cancelling my flight that was scheduled for 8PM this evening. Their solution was a flight leaving from the other side of LA 5 hours earlier than my original flight. Not helpful at all, left me out to dry, won’t bother again.

UPDATE: decided to give it another shot bc I can’t help myself, the idea is just too cool. Got to the airport, the pilot walks up to me and cancels the flight. I call blackbird, they bumble around and offer a refund. That didn’t change the fact that they ruined my plans completely. Totally unreliable and really awful customer service... they’ll be going under soon.

Awesome idea and if I could see what flights are available out there to choose from, it could add a whole other market to the business model. If I want to go somewhere new for a weekend, I would love to pick out a nearby departure with a destination I’ve never been and would like to explore. I think adding this feature would greatly increase matches and be better for everyone.

First timer here. All I can say is that I’m hooked! Took a flight from SF to Tahoe to meet some buddies for a long weekend. They all drove. Poor savages sat in a car for a 4 hour drive. Me: just a 1 hour flight. Small plane, but definitely solid. Nothing fancy and the price was right. And my pilot (Paul??) was awesome. Made the experience completely smooth. Would highly recommend for short flights out of the city.

Love the ease of booking and having my trips all on BlackBirdAir . The staff at check in are always so friendly & you only have to be there 20-30mins before flight! I’m able to plug my computer in get work done while having complimentary coffee & snacks before I board the plane with no crazy lines and sit down with ample leg room ready for my flight.

You think it’s some luxury elite thing, and it is, but now it’s affordable. Easy process, once had a problem and immediately cleared up (c’mon, you’re gonna have some problems...) then you show up and “yeah, da’s right, that’s MY PLANE.” Seriously, it’s a great process and a great product. As my gf said after our first flight, “Ohh do we ever have to fly commercial, ugh.”

A friend recommended this to me, within minutes of downloading I had easily navigated through finding the flights I wanted and creating my profile. The ticket displays information on the address of the airport/hanger and could not be any easier or intuitive. Thank you for giving me convenience at my fingertips

Highly competitive pricing for Burbank to Las Vegas and Phoenix flights I have used... cheaper than major carriers. No TSA. Lounges at the hangar. Arrive 20 minutes before the flight. Upon arrival back at Burbank I was driving home 5 minutes after the wheels hit the ground. Recommending this to several business colleagues. Game changing experience for air travel.

First commercial flight out of Martha’s Vineyard was cancelled. Second flight delayed for 3+ hours. Decided to cancel the flight and use Blackbird, and without spending any more money than for my commercial ticket, I was off the ground on time and home before I new it! Can’t wait to use them again. And customer service was fantastic!!
