App fine when it works support not so much

2024-11-22

Despite several attempts to refresh my subscription and requests for support, CycleMap is displaying ads and refusing to display elevation profiles. I've used it successfully for turn by turn audible directions a few months ago.

Might be worth the subscription if competent support were available.

Not bicyclist friendly

2024-11-22

CycleMap doesn’t not calculate inclines at all. That was something key for my commute as I’m looking to find the flattest route. Also does not match with bike lanes or bike friendly (safe) streets. Setting up a route for custom starting point doesn’t seem available (or easy to navigate). Not cyclist friendly. Disappointed.

Features do not function/Support non existent

2024-11-22

It would be a gear app if it were to deliver on what is promised; it does not. The only functioning facilities are the map, pins and your location at a given time. Two requests for help have gone unanswered. Tutorial is more a sales pitch than a guide. Would not recommend and consider best to avoid.

Asks for personal info

2024-11-22

Why does CycleMap ask me tons of personal info just to have bike maps? No.

Crap

2024-11-22

CycleMap does nothing

Do not use if you're in the NYC area!!

2024-11-22

I've been trying to use CycleMap within the tri-state area of New York, Connecticut and New Jersey and quite frankly your app is going to get me seriously injured if not dead. It has given me routes that cannot be accessed via a bicycle, routes that go against traffic in very busy areas, routes that cannot be accessed because of new restrictions. Also, there is an issue of battery drainage. 25% into my ride, my battery was completely drained because CycleMap is constantly trying to find me on a route that I cannot access. I like the concept of seamlessly creating routes based on the amount of miles I want to travel, but these bugs are frustrating to say the least, and quite frankly dangerous!!!

I took advice from the site to download a route and make it a favorite to have access to it offline to save battery life, but the route was somehow deleted from my device!! If had gone too far I would've been completely lost in an area I do not know!!

I will no longer be using CycleMap, since I am convinced it is literally putting my life in danger.

GPS gets lost easily

2024-11-22

If you're even 10ft off the route it gets lost and tells you to return to the route. Which is crazy since it's a mapping app. Won't use again. Too many backtracks for me to find value.

So so

2024-11-22

Fails to find routes to specific location.
Looses ability to direct if you get off predetermined path.
Shows some great bike lanes are but not very useful as a navigation app.

Ugh

So buggy

Good effort but need work to be usable

2024-11-22

I leave 3 stars but only 2 for CycleMap itself, the 3rd is for the effort and reasonable price even if some people will question $1 just to get unusable directions.

I bought CycleMap thinking to use it to help me discover new routes on my bike. I am SF East bay by the way.

After 30min trying to use it I gave up and came back to a route I knew.

With CycleMap, on your bike you cannot follow the constant left-right of bike route directions.
- No turn by turn voice guided at $1 fair enough but
- CycleMap doesn't refresh your position on the direction map, no way to know if you are on route or not, had to recalculate directions at each stop.
- CycleMap doesn't give access to the multiple route choices google generate
- red on orange on an iphone screen to show you the direction legs, when you ride with sunglasses is impossible to see.

Having the google bike maps on the iphone is great but it has to be useable.

Impressive app, good routes, lots of useful data

2024-11-22

I live in Chicago and have used this app often enough to feel confident subscribing. The routes are good, and the extra data you get for subscribing is really useful for picking routes and alternatives.

There are good little features that make a big difference too, like marking locations as favorites for easy access later. Definitely give it a try and consider subscribing to keep more good stuff coming.

If you cycle, this APP is a must!!!
