Months later, still not fixed. The developer NEVER RESPONDS to queries or complaints. Do not download Books.

A week later... still not opening any this app. Still rendering into new format. Something is wrong. Please fix it.

Since its last update, it tells me on opening that it has to render all the this app I have downloaded in its new and awesome format, but it never STOPS rendering. It claims each book takes from 20 seconds to 2 minutes, but it's been going for hours. I don't have that many this app in my download library. Please fix it, developer. And while you're at it, please fix Books Support link next to the Write a Review button. I get a File Not Found message.

My review is exactly like the first one. First, it comes blank, then it tells me to wait 20 seconds to 2 minutes to rerender a book. It just continues to go round and round. I was reading The Three Musketeers at about the middle. No that's gone. All the this app I had downloaded are gone. Please help fix this problem. Books now opens on my iPad I haven't tried the phone yet.

Books is as close to perfection as you can get. Is there maybe a few bugs that could be addressed, sure as with any other app. However it is the best of the best. All the classics you can ask for in one place and an easy to use interface to read them with if your a reader Books is for you. Enjoy

It had been a while since I had read a book on my phone, and it wouldn't open. I easily fixed that by deleting and downloading again. I like Books so much I got the upgrade with no ads. It just might wean me from hard copy this app. Thanks for a great app!

It takes forever to load half the time it takes over 5 minutes to load then again it could just be my phone I will never know

Had "Free this app" for a few years and it worked great. Then, a week or so ago I look to read something and the damned app won't open. SO, I go to Books store and find that there's a "new" Free this app app, meaning I no longer have ANY this app on my phone, and have to download this "new" version--and RE-download all of the this app lost, when the developers abandoned the previous version. This "new" version won't allow me to read ANY damned thing, because nothing will open.

THIS icon is fabulous; I’ve enjoyed every single one of them that I’ve read. To be able to take my iPad with me anywhere and everywhere I go and have 1000 this app at my fingertips is an unbelievable luxury! Thank you ‘this app’!!!

So first I could not find Emmy this app I like so when I finish found things that looked cool I would try them. This is the problem the this app tack forever to load and this is with not just one book but all of the this app I tried and I tried a lot. It said that it could tack up tack up to tow mins to load and I counted it took way more than two mins it took so long that I could not enveloped wait that long and I have a good phone.

I previously rated this as a five star app. Great book selection, however, the absolute failure of an update has rendered Books utterly useless. The “download” never downloads. The message states the book will download within 2 minutes, however, no book EVER completes downloading...the prompt just keeps spinning eternally and drains your phone battery. What a shame, as Books was used on a regular basis. It is now unusable.

There are so many great this app to choose from, and they are so easily chosen. I highly recommend Books to anyone looking for a classic or just to have an app to pass free time.

Ever since updated to supposed better reading app.
With prior reader was great.
MANY have complained re this but never any reply or apparent attempt to fix this.
You click to download a book and it is stuck in downloading screen, never completes it.

I don’t know what’s going on but recently when you try to download a book, you get stuck in a “rendering” ( guess that would be “update” to the rest of us) process that never ends. The only way to end this rendering is to delete Books . So good by to what used to be a good app. Too bad

Books is fantastic. I enjoy the this app that are available and it has a large variety.

Don't know what all the 1 star reviews are about. Works great for me and there is a fantastic selection of this app to read.

Since Books updated and added a "much better reader" it endlessly renders the this app. It says 20 seconds to 2 minutes. My experience has been that it never stops rendering. Maybe it's my phone but Books worked on my older phone and the reader was fine. Please fix this.

I really enjoy Books and the access to the variety of literature from classics to pulp fiction. Everyone should have it.

The new version doesn't open any this app! I love Books and need and use it a lot! But i can't read anything now!!
It needs to be fixed!

Used to be fine for public domain classics -- great, even. But now it refuses to open at all. You just get a spinning water wheel. It's been this way for many months despite the complaints of many users. So, apparently, it is no longer supported. Too bad, but it's on to other reading apps now. Bye.

A couple of years ago I used Books all the time. Then about 1-2 years ago they did an update that required your this app to “render” because they’d made SUCH IMPROVEMENTS to the reader. Only problem was the this app never rendered no matter how long you waited. I deleted Books . Now it’s 2020. I downloaded Books again and lo and behold the problem is still not fixed!! this app just sit there ‘rendering’ and never open. Books could be great if it worked. Fix the issue or take it off Books Store - it’s ridiculous.

Just got a iPhone with IOS 12.3.1 and Books won’t render any book I try to download. Worthless app. Also the support link goes to a dead web address. I’m thinking Books should be removed from Books store but I would prefer to see it get fixed. I wonder if it has something to do with Apple’s rendering tech as there are various threads on the web describing problems with it.
