Yes... but no.

2025-01-15

YES, AdobeIllustratorDraw can help you create amazing things, IF you can figure out how to work the freaking thing. Congratulations and my applause to whoever can work the controls, but in my case, it seems absolutely impossible. I have created pieces that I am quite proud of, but after spending hours on end working on a piece it would always end up being all for nothing due to a lack of one single detail, weather that be the sizing or accidentally pressing something that seems irreversible because my non-artistic and non-technologicaly capable brain can’t figure out how to control and complete my artwork. The list goes on, and I’m sorry to whoever has faces the same frustrating and tragic ending as I have; which is why I have finally come to the conclusion to delete this stupid app, along with my courage to keep trying. For some it has and will be smooth sailing on the ocean of creativity and excitement of finishing a new masterpiece, BUT for my countless others who I have known and have faced the same sorrowful ending, such as myself, it has been a rough and challenging swim to shore.

Starts off great, becomes completely unusable over time

2025-01-15

I’ve been using AdobeIllustratorDraw for about a week now, and I have to say, after growing accustomed to the layout and gestures, I’d really been enjoying it. I made some stuff I was really happy with, and if all had stayed as it was, this would be a 5 star review. However, a few days ago, AdobeIllustratorDraw gradually started to have issues, in that it began freezing up every 10 seconds or so, for about 3 seconds every time. To be clear, I have a new iPhone 8 and a new iPad both of which are having this issue. It does it even when you’re doing absolutely nothing in AdobeIllustratorDraw , or when you’re drawing, or resizing or pulling up a menu. It just happens inconsistently, and for seemingly no reason. I’ve looked it up online, emailed adobe, and even gone as far as deleting all but 6 simple pieces of my art and bought extra memory for a small price each month. Nothing has improved the problem, I haven’t had a response yet from adobe, and it makes it nearly impossible to complete anything unless you’re content with the program stopping you half way through your pen strokes to have a think every so often. Extremely frustrated and disappointed.

Adobe Draw

2025-01-15

I understand that there is currently no cad app for iPad pro. As a mechanical engineer, I’ve spent many years making my own drawings since it’s faster than trying to explain what I want to a cad operator. I taught graphical communications and descriptive geometry at one university and taught algebra at a different university and am now retired. Having held titles such as chief engineer and engineering and maintenance manager I’ve hired and taught a fair number of engineering students and practicing engineers through my career. I retired as an executive at a medium to large defense contracting company but I still enjoy doing calculations and wish there was a basic cad app for my iPad pro. I have the A9X chip and plenty of memory. A simple app that allows the user to draw lines and input the angle of the line would be great. AdobeIllustratorDraw does not seem to offer the basic ability to draw lines at an input angle. Just being able to solve a sum of vectors would be great. Perhaps I’m missing something that AdobeIllustratorDraw offers. Anyone who is very familiar with AdobeIllustratorDraw might prove me wrong in my assumptions which I would be thankful for.

Thx

Works ok but...

2025-01-15

Please, please can you integrate another way to send/save files other than the direct upload to illustrator? Sometimes it works fine, but if it doesn’t, it’s an hours long process of figuring things out, and that’s with the advice on Adobes website.

I’ve done everything, checked that the account is the same on desktop and app, made sure everything is the latest version, etc etc. yet still, it’s hit or miss if this works. Latest advice is to sign out of everything, turn off all devices, turn all back on, resign in and give it another shot. This is just an unacceptable workflow when there is no logical reason as to why the transfer is not working.

Can you just make it so we can save a file and upload it where we need it? The cloud, iCloud, Dropbox, etc?? This would make many Adobe Draw users lives much easier.

Adobe, get rid of the ruler

2025-01-15

It is so annoying to have to maneuver the ruler around , which is not easy and you get marks in parts that you didn’t plan. It is very simple and Sketch Club, and Autodesk both have the option of making straight lines . It is annoying because you are connected to Adobe capture shapes, but the ruler is just stupid, messy and there is a very simple cure that every other drawing app has. But your connected to my Creative Cloud library, and I use SketchClub to render architecture straight lines. Then have to go to AdobeIllustratorDraw for my capture shapes library. I hate that you cant just decide straight lines, for once please listen, and if the ruler is needed for something else, keep it but every time I try your mobile apps their is always something, better and it’s annoying that you can’t get the basics down, please check out your mobile apps competition. Capture is probably the only app that is original and innovative. This ruler is a very idiotic, feature that never wants to move. OPTION DRAW STRAIGHT LINES OR FREEHAND

You don’t tell me what I can use cause of my age

2025-01-15

Look you can’t tell me I can’t use AdobeIllustratorDraw or create a account because I’m not at the right age look people I’m trying to practice drawing to get better and I don’t always have a piece of paper to pull out and draw on and I’m trying to get into art to make it as my career so can you respect that and tell me oh you can make a account because of community guide lines oh well I’m going to make one if I want to so let me make a account because it’s just dumb you can’t let a person a child that knows the right and wrongs so can you please fix that because it’s just rude to tell people what they can and can’t do please make it to where all people can use AdobeIllustratorDraw please I want to have fun by drawing and learning new things and you are just stopping me from doing what I want to do so please allow all ages to make a account thank you taking time to read this is you did please fix this.

Suggestions for improvement

2025-01-15

I enjoy using AdobeIllustratorDraw , but it’s still frustrating at times. They need to fix the palm/fingers creating unwanted marks when touching the screen or zooming in or out (i have Draw with Current Brush selected but it still picks up my fingers when I zoom out etc). Def need no limit on layers, also they need to add a gesture where I can select an object by holding the pencil over it, Ps has that select current layer option. If I have 20 identical objects as in a pattern it’s insane looking for the one I want to move. Also, I wish if I selected one color it got attributed to all the brushes, I’m using several brushes drawing one object and have to manually change colors when I pick a different one.
Hope the Adobe team tweaks AdobeIllustratorDraw more and of course it’d be amazing if they had custom brush support! But then people won’t pay for Ai, right?

Bugs!!!

2025-01-15

AdobeIllustratorDraw seemed really great and I took the time to explore around a little bit. I finally got excited to dive into art again. I started doodling a little and as soon as I started using the eraser tool AdobeIllustratorDraw struggled to load anything. The erasing I did wouldn’t show up and I couldn’t tap anything else. I tried closing and reopening AdobeIllustratorDraw and I fiddled around with my WiFi a bit, but I couldn’t get it to work. If this is an issue with an easy fix please let me know! I had searched a while for an app as simple as this (because I’m new to digital art), but could still make a quality drawing.

As a side note, my only other complaint is the lack of options for brushes. A small selection makes it easier to pick and choose, but too small of a selection doesn’t leave much room for exploration.

Mighty for the small projects

2025-01-15

As far as the quality and ease of use, AdobeIllustratorDraw takes the cake. I’ve struggled to get into digital art because the apps are usually so unfriendly to users, but simplicity and easy to follow tutorials really helped with AdobeIllustratorDraw. There’s not a lot of tool options, but they’re all the tool types that I really need. Plus the fact it easily converts to a timelapse is a awesome plus. However, I am sad to say I’m currently looking for a different app as I quickly outgrew my use for this one.

If all you plan to do is sketch something quick, this is AdobeIllustratorDraw for you. But any real project worth time and effort causes awful lag. I have my iPad Pro up to date, as well as AdobeIllustratorDraw , but my larger projects just can’t be supported by the functions of AdobeIllustratorDraw . Sometimes it’s a few second delay for a single line to show, opening and closing layers takes ten seconds to load, the fact that if you forget to “convert to timelapse” every few minutes then it will never load, or the zooming/rotating taking another ten seconds to load. It’s bad enough I don’t want anything more to do with AdobeIllustratorDraw anymore. Additionally, I’ve learned to work around the lack of a smudge or blur tool, but there are lots of times it would really be perfect for the looks I’m trying to create.

Great!... Until you try to get fancy...

2025-01-15

I’ve been using this program for over a year now, and for how simple it is, it’s honestly not only surprising but also highly impressive with how much one can do with so little, and i would fully recommend this for beginners trying to get into digital art. However I do have some complaints, despite me regularly deleting old works and, according to AdobeIllustratorDraw , having lots of data space left, should you try to get too detailed or complicated with your art, to program starts to act very slowly to the point of crashing (it does save automatically and for that I’m VERY grateful for, don’t get me wrong) but it would still be nice if the program could handle everything to a stronger extent. Also it would be very cool if they added a text feature, they even have pre-made speech bubbles, but no text features to put in them...Other than these things I have not complaints, and I would totally recommend this to a friend.

So crisp and smooth!

2025-01-15

For what i need AdobeIllustratorDraw is amazing. Like others, i wish there was a blending/smudging/blur tool. But with enough time and key stroke placement it does the job well enough. I wish we could add brushes though!

Also, can we maybe be given the option to customize the layout more!? I’ve messed up so many layers because they’re right on the right hand side...where i accidentally switch to another layer without noticing and mess things up. I like being to able to quickly switch between brushes and colors but i have to make the controls all disappear to avoid that happening and it’s crazy annoying!

It pains me to give 4 stars....because really it’s an amazing amazing tool to have. But it is also such a drag to use! I know i have to use this because of the superb quality so I just accept my fate...but my pieces take a lot longer to finish and frankly I lose all motivation when battling an app that is counterintuitive.

Delightful vector art application

2025-01-15

I have adored working in AdobeIllustratorDraw from way back when it was called Adobe Ideas. The subsequent updates and revamps have made AdobeIllustratorDraw stronger and more versatile. It’s a genuine joy to use.
The only thing I’d love to see is more compatibility with active styluses (styli? I guess it’s either). I recently received a SonarPen after backing their indegogo campaign. It works well in MediBang Paint, but there’s no support for it in Draw or Sketch, yet. Looking forward to having pressure sensitive line control without paying $100+ for a stylus I’ll lose, drop, or have battery issue with. (Granted, the 3d Touch on iphone 7 and above functions as pressure sensitivity, but I sometimes need the larger screen area of an ipad.)

Other than that, this is a fabulous app. Absolutely recommend it.

Crazy Awesome Integration, Fun to Use

2025-01-15

I recently got a 9.7 in iPad to use for design and illustration. I initially thought I would primarily use Procreate for design, however while looking up Illustrator, I came across this adobe app. I am amazed by the seamless designs, the personalization, the easy integration and transfer capabilities from AdobeIllustratorDraw, to Adobe Capture, to sending the design vectors straight to illustrator on my computer within seconds! This is a High quality app that any designer should integrate into their design process.
One recommendation: what I like about Procreate over AdobeIllustratorDraw is the variety of brush sets, the fine alterations you can make on brushes, and overall design capabilities. If Adobe Draw can get closer to ProCreate on that level, there would be absolutely no need for me to use ProCreate at all. Other option: work with ProCreate to easily transfer designs as vectors into Adobe applications.

Great app!

2025-01-15

I’ve downloaded a few other drawing apps before and this one is the best free one! I should invest in a pen to draw with and I’ve only been using my finger on my phone screen but I haven’t let that stop me from making super detailed characters. Thanks for such a great free app! My only complaint is I can only zoom out of the largest sized paper so far and it doesn’t allow me to draw anything too large, I’ve only been able to draw a character full body a couple of times and I couldn’t get as much detail as I would like, but, no major complaints at all since it’s free, I only have it on my phone and I don’t have a stylus lol, so that much is really a personal preference, as well as wanting more texture tools to draw with, but again, it’s free (I think?) so I’m content.

Do you know why I like this app 💯 stars if I could

2025-01-15

I like AdobeIllustratorDraw because it’s a great art app and for beginner drawers this is just a question, how do post your pictures on discover other than that this is truely amazing 😉 ESPECIALLY I love watching my drawings with the time lapse button I have this rule that my parents won’t let me go on my iPad for the week but on the weekends so I asked if I can ONLY USE Front row math Epic reading 📖 app and of course last and especially not least AdobeIllustratorDraw now these are the reasons I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE AdobeIllustratorDraw 😊But here is suggestions can we please cut and paste and can we please copy colors of pictures?if so I would if I could ask the apple company to add 💯 $tars
