Love the iperf feature!

The convenience of being able to conduct an iperf test from my iPhone was the main reason I purchased HENETNetworkTools! The numerous other features are what keeps me coming back to HENETNetworkTools. Keep up the good work guys!

Great tool if you do networking

Apple’s iOS is very limited when it comes to network diagnostic, and HENETNetworkTools solved it and you can do some trouble shooting locally. Has tools like your ping and traceroute, iperf, ssl/tls handshake.

Great suite of tools

Useful suite of tools when you are mobile and don't want to take the time to rip out your laptop / main device to run basic networking checks. Very useful for sysadmin / network admin

Fix the iperf3 UDP test

The iperf3 UDP test is useless because HENETNetworkTools only tries to use a max of 1mbps of bandwidth.

If the dev will check the iperf documentation, the bandwidth used in the udp test is a selectable parameter. You have to be able to increase the bandwidth used to the maximum supported by your network in order to properly test.

HENETNetworkTools defaults to using 1mbps, and that cannot be changed, so it's useless.

Useful

I’ve been using HENETNetworkTools for years and find it very useful. It would be even better if they can add the capability to send WOL magic packets.

Excellent Swiss Army knife

I was looking for a simple network testing app and came up with this jewel. It features everything from iperf to DNS querying to OTP codes. True to the HE style, this is not a “shiny” application, but it’s packed with features.

By

You'll want to get this

I've played with this for about 5 minutes and it's better than any other free tool set I've tried.

By

Love it!

Just what I was looking for I needed a ping utility where I could set the number of times it would ping so that I could compare different DNS servers to one another. Love it! Thank you very much!

By

Excellent

Has advanced features not common in similar tools, like SSL cert chain analysis

By

Instant crash on many tools

Ping and many other basic tools result in instant crashing. I was hoping the update that came out today fixed this bug that came with iOS 11...but nope. Crashes immediately.

By

Okay when it works

Iperf3 is very buggy. Crashes a lot. Missing some iperf options (duration -t would be nice).

By

Crash on Interface information

Program permanently crashes when I chose "Interface information" for Xr iOS 15.7

By

Couldn’t make it work on Apple Watch

Documentation on how to make it work with Apple Watch doesn’t exist. The user is left stranded with some TOTP password generation

Great tool - missing IPv6 subnet calc

This is a great tool - esp helpful with retrieving IPv6 interface IP addresses where Apple has failed to do so. With Hurricane Electric being an industry leader in IPv6, I'm surprised to see that the subnet calc is IPv4 only. I would have given 5 stars if that feature was included.

Use to work

Did this stop working for everyone or just me?

Handy Great Free Utility

I was skeptic as I was looking for an iPerf utility that was free and stumbled across HENETNetworkTools that doesn't disappoint. I was able to test using iPerf CLI commands to my jPerf server to test wireless bandwidth on the network. It does exactly what I need for that and it also has some other great utilities such as seeing SSL/TLS info and DNS lookups. However I'd like to request the ability to do SRV lookups as that's something that would also be handy. All in all I can't complain and a big kudos to HENETNetworkTools devs.

Everything I Need

I never review apps so the fact that I'm a busy network admin taking the time to leave one for HENETNetworkTools should say a lot.

HENETNetworkTools has everything I need for quick assessments. I don't think a phone app will ever replace my laptop for serious jobs but that's not the point. I find I don't have to pull my laptop out nearly as often and that's a good thing.

Thank you HE for releasing these tools. I highly recommend HENETNetworkTools!

Perfect for my needs

I was looking for an app to test local wifi performance before and after swapping our access point, and this is perfect.

To test, you run an instance of iperf in server mode on a machine on the local network, point HENETNetworkTools at the address of the machine and watch the results. The output is text, generated at the specified interval.

Testing network performance doesn't need to be complicated, and while HENETNetworkTools doesn't have any bells and whistles, it doesn't need them. It does exactly what's required, no more, no less.

It also gets extra brownie points for using a "standard" tool like iperf instead of some vendor- and platform-specific application that's usually buggy. This allows the server side to be Windows, OS X or just about any form of Unix known to mankind.

Now iperf2 works perfectly!

I got this utility in order to get metrics on some networks on the go and was initially disappointed because iperf2 utility didn't work. Well, that's not the case anymore since last update. All functions tested worked flawlessly in my iPhone 4S with iOS 9.1 and now I'm well armed for my sysadmin tasks. Well done HE Developers!

Gem of a Freebie! TY!

Rare is HENETNetworkTools that works nearly flawlessly, is ad free and $0. The small number of reviews and, presumably, downloads is rather surprising to me. Im no IT person, though HENETNetworkTools routinely helps me set up and maintain connections w/in my home network. HENETNetworkTools really should be in the top 10. Kudos to the developers. Thank you for your generosity with this gem of a freebie!!!

Liking What I See - Using for iPerf

Pulled HENETNetworkTools down to use iPerf. Liking what I see and hope you will grow this with feedback like your app description says! :)

For iPerf, I wanted to run several tests. At first I could only get one every time I pressed ENTER. I tried adding iPerf parameters after the server name, but that just gave a connection error. Then, after removing those, I got 10 or so tests. I think adding a space after the server is doing that?

Feedback - support the iPerf command parameters?

Feedback - make it more clear how to run multiple tests?

I too had HENETNetworkTools crash like the other review said - I thought it was when I clicked on the envelope - but that now is working. Hope the crash report made it to you.

So, all in all, this looks like a cool utility Second blossom into something incredibly useful.

Dark Mode Text Hard to Read

On iPhone while using dark mode, the default background and text color is hard to read the text. Please make two text color, one for dark mode other one for non dark mode.

App was so good we bought 10G transit

Why not

Partial iOS support

App “mostly” works on iOS; “interface information” crashes HENETNetworkTools immediately. It has been like this for over two years now. “Great” (not quite!)
