At this point...I’d pay to not have ad’s!!

I’ve used PocketFiction for years and have loved it [and would have been willing to give it 5 stars butttt]... The Ads are long videos that you can’t click out of right away. Whereas before it was just at the bottom of the screen. I use PocketFiction for the simplicity of it and would be willing to pay a one time fee to have a pro version with no Ads!!!

Other suggestions: the ability to read and leave comments! I guess that would mean being able to connect your account too and lastly it would be really dope to be able to backup your list of stories. Every time I get a new phone I have to add each story over one-by-one

Search No longer works?

I’m giving this 3 stars instead of 1 because I used to love PocketFiction. I took a bit of a break from FanFiction and just came back and all of my old stories are still there and great. And my last search still works. However, when I try to change categories, it tells me I am not connected to the Internet and won’t let me change anything. I have tried restarting PocketFiction and refreshing what I can, but it doesn’t seem to be working. Please fix this when you can or let us know if there is a workaround. Thanks!!

Any Updates Coming?

I love PocketFiction and I’ve used it for years. It’s been the main source for my fave tv show FanFiction. However, lately, I haven’t been able to search other shows. I always get a “no results found” warning, so it’s stuck on the last show I searched stories for. I also have trouble with returning back to the page I left off on. It just sends me back to the start of chapters which is especially annoying with chapters over 100 pages. Hope these problems can be fixed because it’s still one of the easiest apps for me to get my FanFiction on.

Problems

I’ve been using PocketFiction for a few years. I love it, but recently, it’s been acting weird. Whenever I want to search for a new story to add, it always says no results. Also, anytime I go in to read a story or a that I’ve already partially or completely finished, it always starts at the beginning. It’s supposed start whenever you left off. It gets very annoying if I’m partly through a very long chapter and it starts at the beginning. PocketFiction also keeps crashing

Killing my battery

I love PocketFiction and I’ve used it for years since it lets you download fan fiction and read it offline which I like for traveling or saving my phones battery since I’m not using any data really. Ever since the new ad system was implemented it absolutely murders my battery in a short amount of time. I don’t know what changed so dramatically in PocketFiction besides the ads, so I’m assuming that’s the problem. Please fix it, I’ve always loved PocketFiction.

Much thanks for the Update!

PocketFiction works MUCH better now. Besides the whole ‘Not being able to connect to the internet and download stories’ thing, there was also a nasty bug that made any chapter you opened start at the beginning of it, which was VERY annoying on especially large chapters.

Glad to see that PocketFiction is getting updated after this long. Keep up the fantastic work!

Fix this

For some reason every time that I try to get on PocketFiction now it says pocketfictiondomain error.1 before that was okay it still worked but now it’s opening for a few seconds and then closes PocketFiction . I was even fine with the ad pop ups but this makes PocketFiction pointless to have. Btw before this gets said I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it. Now I have a new problem it says a story has one chapter when it has over 200k words and of course the only chapter I can read is the first one please fix this

Love it! But...

I love PocketFiction and I use it every day, but for the last 3 weeks I haven’t been able to search for and add new stories to my collection. Every time I go to do so, I get a message that I need to connect to the internet even though I already am. I hope this will be fixed soon. I’ve found more stories I would like to add to my app, and it’s really frustrating that I can’t do so right now.

New issue

Thanks so much for fixing those issues however now I have another problem. I had set the background to a certain color, and the color remains until I open a story to start reading. Once I open the story/chapter, the background turns white. I don't like this as the white background hurts my eyes. This is my all time favorite app, and I use it more than any other app on my iPad, so I'd really appreciate it if you could fix this one small issue.

Loving all these updates, but…

I really wish something could be done about there being so many folders for crossovers. They all have the same fics in them, though each folder differs in the number of stories it lists are in them. I literally have over 20 folders titled Crossover (Xover).

Quick addon: I’m also not big on the new ads. The little banners were fine, but I really don’t like the full page ones interrupting things.

Crashing problems, but great app overall.

On the whole, I love PocketFiction, but the latest update still crashes... a lot! Most times I can get all the way to chapter selection then, more times than not when I select a chapter, it crashes.

Please, please fix this! This is my fave fanfic app and I'm hoping that you will be able to fix this crashing problem soon.

Thanks! : )

Good app, but randomly crashes

It’s a great app, and was working fine until recently. It just randomly crashes even you even look at it wrong. I don’t understand what the problem is. PocketFiction needs a serious update. It’s been over a year. Get on that.

It also crashes every time you try to download something new or even download an update to a story. PLEASE FIX THIS.

Just about all I could want... before the last update broke it

Awesome app. I can select an entire chapter's worth of text in the space of a few seconds and let iPhone's integrated text-to-speech feature read it to me on my earbuds while I work. I only wish it could be used to read what I sync to iBooks.

Unfortunately, with the latest version, I am unable to scroll text. At all. It immediately springs back to the top of the page. I hope this issue will be corrected soon, because as it is, PocketFiction is nearly unusable.

Used to be so good

Now, you get an ad for every chapter you click on (used to be at the bottom of the screen, which was fine). And I mean a full-size video ad that has to play for at least five seconds. They couldn’t even crop it right, so the “close ad” button is mostly cut off by the bottom of your screen.

On top of that, don’t bother downloading PocketFiction if you don’t have it already, because you can’t download stories anymore. You literally can’t read any story that you don’t already have saved.

Still fantastic with crashes

This is one of my favorite apps to use to read my fanfics, it's really nice to have them all in one place, downloaded so I can read them offline. I absolutely love it! The only problem for me is that the new update didn't fix the problem wherein sometimes I can't open a story or a chapter of a story without PocketFiction crashing, but it's totally worth it! I love PocketFiction!

Could be better

This is an amazing and convenient app. It used to be a lot better than it is now, since it continues to crash when you try to open certain fanfics, which is a pain since it's completely random. Other than that's it's very good. I just wish that the screen could turn dark, like a night time version for reading in the dark.

Updates

So glad PocketFiction is finally fixed and working properly!

It would be great if it were possible to link PocketFiction to Archive of our Own somehow to download stories from their site. The only application available for that site is not nearly as nice or user friendly as this one.

Dwindling

I used to love PocketFiction so much. Now it’s been an absolute pain to use. I just lock my phone not even a minute and when I come back PocketFiction crashes and needs to be restarted. Half the time it doesn’t even download the new chapters of stories I already have. Anytime I open PocketFiction it gives me an error alert. I wish it would be fixed cause PocketFiction is so convenient when I’m on the go with no data or WiFi.

Still needs an update to adjust to dark mode settings and load updates

Updated April 2020- still no update, and I can’t load updates on PocketFiction. Need an update please.

My favorite for fanfic, but my stuff is set to dark mode, and PocketFiction needs to catch up- all of my previous settings have been reset and they won’t change. When I try to adjust background or font colors, PocketFiction crashes. Please update!

Not bad could be better

Other than it sometimes crashing when opening a story and the whole not connecting to the internet thing that goes on and off it’s a good app and allows you to go offline and read your stories once they’re downloaded

Love it! ...but the ads...

Super convenient for readers on the go or who hang around places where WiFi is restricted. You can manage all of your FF stories and it will book mark where you stopped reading each of them. It also shows you a graph of who much of the story you have read, so you can see all ones you are up to date with or not as you scroll through the list.

Problem is the ads that were recently added. They used to be pretty subtle as a banner at the bottom, but now you have to watch these short commercials for games when I just want to read. Putting game ads up when I’m already playing another mobile game is fine, but when I’m in a reading mood I don’t want to be bothered with game ads; it’s two different mentalities. Would you want an ad for a game to pop up in the middle of your ambient noise sleep aid? No.
