NYerPrintEdition sieht gut aus, funktioniert aber bei mir praktisch gar nicht. Auch nach Reinstallation etc.
Die Ausgaben können nicht ohne Fehlermeldungen, Crashes etc heruntergeladen werden. Eine Ausgaben ist etwa 140MB groß. Bei etwa 100MB bricht der Download ab: NYerPrintEdition beendet sich, oder es kommt eine Fehlermeldung oder es passiert gar nicht's mehr. Danach lässt sich die teilweise heruntergeladene Ausgabe nur in sehr kleinen Ausschnitten lesen. Ein Nachladen von fehlenden Teilen ist wohl vorgesehen, funktioniert aber nicht richtig.
Ich habe versucht den Fehler an die Hersteller zu reporten, aber leider hat auch die Fehlerreport-Seite nicht funktioniert.
Also, in der aktuellen Version NYerPrintEdition ist's reine Zeitverschwendung…

Sehr ärgerlich, war eine gute App aber seit ein paar Wochen brechen Downloads immer wieder ab und die aktuelle Ausgabe kann ich gar nicht mehr herunterladen. Der Support ist NICHT VORHANDEN, auf Anfragen wird überhaupt nicht reagiert.
Wirklich peinlich für ein so etabliertes Medium. Ich werde sofort das Abo kündigen und frage mich wie ich mein Geld zurück bekomme.....

this app used to be fantastic. it was as if you were reading the actual magazine with some nice interactive features.
now, everything has changed for the worse. no fullscreen cover or other pages. menu bar is always on screen. swiping from article to article sometimes works, sometimes not. app keeps forgetting where i left off. no more table of contents like in the printed magazine ...
this is an example where the quality of the app is drastically reduced by a newer version without an apparent reason.

Table of contents has gone, so has the section of contributors.
All old issues which had been downloaded and saved have gone. The button >paid for< and >download< has gone. If this is „progress“ , then the company Conde Nast is a symbol of Trumpism!!

Ich mag den New Yorker. aber NYerPrintEdition ist verbesserungswürdig, manchmal muss ich eine Ausgabe mehr als 5 mal laden, weil immer irgendwo um die Hälfte der Download abbricht ("der Download wurde angehalten"). Nervig!

Granted, my iPad is more than five years old but everything was fine until this week. Now, I can neither read issues I have already downloaded nor download the newest issue - the app crashes every time. Very annoying.

The old app was so much easier to use!
The real purpose behind this new one is to make you first go through a verification any time you want to go back to an old issue, to finish reading something. So they can keep better track of you through your phone.
Back issues are no longer instantly available on the phone, there is some repeated download procedure. Which is a problem when you have a weekend summer cottage out in the boonies (in Germany) and there are internet charges for downloading. 😠
And I tend to do my reading on weekends.

The audio narrations are a great idea. But more refinement in favour of user experience is needed. My suggestions:
- Make audios available offline so when I download an issue I won’t need to be online to listen to an article. The current option defeats the purpose!
- Add the ability to move or return by 25 seconds like in Curio or Podcasts.
Waiting to love this wonderful app even more!

Ich kann verstehen, dass die US-User NYerPrintEdition in Grund und Boden bewerten, da sie trotz Print-Abo jede App-Ausgabe bezahlen müssen. Für uns deutsche User ist NYerPrintEdition hingegen ein Gottesgeschenk. Jede Ausgabe ist wunderschön multimedial aufgearbeitet (Autoren lesen die Fiction-Kurzgeschichten vor, etc.), leicht durchzustöbern und zu lesen, der Inhalt ist ohnehin erstklassig und man muss weder auf die postalische Lieferung der Print-Ausgabe aus den Staaten warten, noch ist es erforderlich, die erpresserischen Mondpreise der Hbf-Presseläden zu zahlen. Mit Freude zahle ich jede Woche meine 3.99 € (allerdings wäre ein Abo-Angebot für NYerPrintEdition sinnvoll).
Enjoy, auch wenn jede Ausgabe hunderte von MBs verschlingt.

Perfekt für das iPad aufbereitet. Die reine Lesefreude. Ein großes Magazin weiß, was es sich schuldig ist. Die Abonnenten mögen sich zwar ärgern über die aktuelle Preispolitik, das ist ein anderes Thema, aber an Aufmachung und Umsetzung für das iPad gibt es nichts zu mäkeln, ganz im Gegenteil. Wie ein Vorredner schon sagte: "Wunderschön gemacht."

Für Besitzer eines iPhone (4) mit Print-Abo funktioniert das Programm hervorragend. Nach Eingabe der Login-Daten (nur einmal, bleibt eingeloggt) bisher alle downloads in unter 1 min (ca. 40 MB). Lesen dann offline sehr angenehm. Fazit: Für Print-Abonnenten für unterwegs uneingeschränkt zu empfehlen!

The app should offer more font sizes. Currently, you have to choose between tiny, very big und absurdly huge.
