Best Card Ever

I started out thinking I would use this card as a back up but it has by far paid for itself several times over in the last six months, has given me immense peace of mind with their protection plans and offer very similar benefits to the Chase credit cards all while being a debit card of sorts. I can transfer bank cards on the spot to fund various ways, load funds instantly with no lag time and every transaction posts instantly with a quick notification that pops across my screen. Small every day normal spending challenges reap me free money and I earn money on money I already spend. I earn 1x to 10x on standard purchases including subscriptions. I absolutely LOVE my
Card. And it is the card of choice when I travel out of the country in 2022 as there are no foreign transactions fees. It will help me track all my spending too. And the Customer Service is outstanding! I am a customer for life. Preparing to close out some other accounts and simplify my life with Point 💜💜💜

Need to speak to a real person

I will give them 2 stars with the hope that they salvage the excitement I had about PointCard until 2 days ago. I will include in my review the 3rd email requesting to speak to someone about a direct deposit that was deposited on Monday, it is now Wednesday and funds are still in a pending status. They advertise instant access with funds direct deposited. Obviously not true. You cannot access live support so forget trying to speak with anyone. This deposit was sent from my insurance company and is over $1000 dollars that I have absolutely no access to. I am currently on medical leave and have been waiting to be paid for over a month and now still have no access to the funds! Not excited anymore I need to speak to a real person verbally not through text not through email. I have had a direct deposit sitting in a pending status for 3 days now. This is the only money I have and you guys are holding it for what reason? you told me yesterday that at midnight pacific time it would be available and it is well past midnight in california or wherever you are located. I am very frustrated at this point and no longer trust your company I was so excited about PointCard, and had all of my income sources directed to you and now I have basically screwed myself and can not get a response from you or speak to anyone directly.

Fantastic app. I LOVE IT.

This is a fantastic app and a great business model. Hopefully they can stick around for many years. PointCard works great and the user interface is intuitive. I started off with a small deposit, to see if I had any problems with them. It works everywhere & way my Chase card works and I’ve literally had no problems at all. Now I have my paycheck direct deposited into the account as well. I suppose my only gripe would be the daily transaction limits. Although I have not hit them yet, I could see it being a problem for some people. Also, they will probably raise that limit as time goes on, or I could even call them to raise it. I am hoping to close my Chase account, as I am using Point more and more. Keep up the good work, Point team!

Poor Customer Service

PointCard constantly crashes and the statements don’t show detailed transactions. It’s difficult to understand where your money is coming from or where you transferred your money to.

Their customer service is lacking. On May 6, I received a portion of my direct deposit from work. I contacted Point to see what happened to the rest of the money, and it took them more than a day to respond. When they did, they were not helpful. After a few tries, I finally got someone to let me know that the direct deposit was split in two payments due to the $8,000 limit and that the 2nd payment will be posted in 3 business days.

It has been 4 business days since, and the support is insisting that the direct deposit was posted on May 6th. But they were referring to the FIRST payment, and not the second. Point owes me $1k+ and fails to solve this issue. This is a classic example of frustrating the customer so the customer would rather lose money than to try to retrieve it. I’d say it’s a profitable business model, but far from ethical.

Great Rewards

I really like this debit card. I have a few good rewards credit cards but their limits aren’t high enough that I can run all my monthly purchases through them unless I make several payments a month. So I instead of using a debit that gets me nothing I put those purchase through Point. In like 3 months I’ve earned $200 cash back and have points for another $50-75 on the way from Access offers. In fact the promotion when I signed up made it so I immediately had points to make $100 back, offsetting and passing the membership fee. I see what Point is doing in order to make money but hey if you can get a piece of it too without having to have a high limit rewards credit card, what do you have to lose?

NOT A TRUST WORTHY COMPANY

When this card first came out it was really a shock to spend money and receive money back for what I spent, I really felt appreciated, then came the first sign of not holding to their word. They asked you to refer a friend and receive $100 when that person spent $200 in a certain time frame, I did that and my friend did, in fact friends did, this is when the changed the rewards to if the person spent $1,000, thank God I took a snapshot of what they sent to me for the referral of friends else I wouldn’t of been paid, then came the 2nd miss trust, Spend for 7 days straight during the Christmas from a set date to a set date, again I did but again they didn’t honor their end of the requirement, they even changed from Master Card to Visa Card, I have reached out to this company on many occasions but they refused to honor, they even give you statements for ever purchasing made, except for the month of December it’s saying it has expired, people be careful, am out No this app for me. Banking Done Right

Just started using Point Bank a few weeks ago & I am amazed! Everything about PointCard & website is so beautifully designed & straight forward. Their reward system is legit & one of the best I’ve ever seen with mobile banking. In addition, you can’t beat the APY %. Communication is outstanding & current with the generation we’re in. I had one issue in creating my account, PointCard gave me the number to text to seek help & in no time, issue was resolved. If they keep this up, they can count on me being a customer of their’s for life.

The only criticism I have is making “mobile check deposit” an option for adding money to the account & add more partners to receive discounts on.

Mixed Feeling - Lack of Features

I never write reviews on apps but this banking app has given me such mixed feelings I felt the need to show the pros and cons. My first issue is that you can’t deposit checks into the account. Considering I switched over to Point from Wells Fargo, this is a feature I miss a lot. Please please please add this. Next, support is a lot more difficult with Point. It is literally impossible to speak on the phone with a human representative. Only over text. Lastly, the bank blocks some purchases that most banks don’t. Those are the things I really hate but there is also some pros. The $100/year fee is definitely worth it for the rewards you get from the card. I have made like half my annual fee back in cash back in just 3 months. That’s also not including the other benefits such as the phone insurance for example. PointCard design is also incredibly simple to use and looks very nice.

DO NOT GET

Do yourself a favor and do not get this account!!! You can never get ahold of anyone when you have a problem. You can’t unlock your own card because every time you unlock it they turn right around and lock it back before you can use your card. They never get back to you regarding an issue your having with them or your card. At first I really liked them and there app because the more you spend the more points you can get and redeem for cash. But I have had both but problems out of them. Oh and when you first open your account with them they give you a virtual card to use when shopping on line, paying bills online and whatever else you can think of but it doesn’t last but maybe a month if your lucky because they take it away from you and don’t even let you know why, when or anything else about it. So I hope y’all find a way better account to have your direct deposit or money go into!!!

It used to be one of my favorite “banks” but there’s a few reasons why it is not a 5 star review. 1) On their website it states that they don’t hide behind jargon. Literally. They actually do. There’s a few tricks they use to get you into. A lot of small font in every contract which you wouldn’t be able to read because it’s not clickable. Until you sign in. BE AWARE. 2) Some payments won’t go through. WORSE payments that you rely on wouldn’t arrive and it’ll take forever for them to get it resolved. Even now after two weeks I’m still waiting for funds to arrive. I’m not sure if it’s even legal. 3) Point don’t have ZELLE which is huge disadvantage compare to any modern bank. It’s just a big NO NO. However their points rewards works pretty good but it just not worth the HEADACHE. Considering almost any other credit card has same benefits and they wouldn’t lie to you.

Happy to be a POINT card member

When I first decided to become a POINT card holder I was very apprehensive due to the membership fee and I was wondering why is there a membership fee !?!? so I paid the membership fee and became a POINT card member well I am very very happy with that decision POINT is a great card that does so much for their card holders from the phone insurance that you receive just by paying your phone bill with your POINT card and also turn your accumulated
points that you accumulate just by using your POINT card into instant ca$h !!
So yes I am very happy that I chose to become a POINT card holder

Brilliant App

My card just arrived yesterday and after my first day of use, I am already a huge believer in the importance of having an option like this. It’s so easy to spend what you technically don’t have, via credit cards, but Point gives me confidence to make whatever buying decisions I want and also makes me excited to do so, knowing I’ll get rewarded. Even if you’re a holder of the top credit cards on the market, I highly encourage you to try point. It’s just such a smoother process knowing it’s YOUR money. Not to mention, the points are far more valuable than credit card points.

Absolutely terrible app

There are a lot of technical issues with this bank. ACH transactions stopped working and I could not transfer funds out to any other bank to make my payments. Not every service accepts debit card payments, some require ACH. The issue has been going on for over a week and it still hasn’t been resolved. I’ve had issues with transfer limits in the past as well where you couldn’t transfer more than a certain amount to the account and the funds wouldn’t show for weeks. The customer service themselves recommending transferring your funds to a “primary” account. Who gets into a business wanting to be the secondary option? The benefits are great but it’s a shame everything else is awful.

Let’s see if I can be scathing enough.

I opened a new account with Point at the beginning of January and the second time I tried using my card it was declined. I received a message from the Point Compliance team about potential fraud, and replied to their email with all of the information requested as soon as I received it. Then a week passed - no updates. I was completely locked out of my account online and with no customer service phone number to call - just a number to text and an email address - spent the next several days yelling into the void and BEGGING for someone to let me know what was going on.

When I finally got a reply - today - a whole week later - I was accused of unemployment forgery and forced to explain when I’d lost my job and why.

Needless to say, this is the most rotten “banking” experience I’ve ever had. Don’t waste your $50.

I want this to be my main bank!

Signed up for Point the minute I heard about it. UI is just beautiful and a joy to use. Unfortunately as a former Simple user finding an alternative bank account, this isn’t there for me yet. I’ve got a variety of expenses and need some sort of envelope/pocket functionality. i can’t bank without it. So because of that I won’t be using this, but the minute they add it I’ll be right back!

Another nice feature would be the ability to rename transactions, just to keep things pretty.

It’s a five stars for what they’ve done, but unfortunately doesn’t meet my needs yet.

Wow, finally a 21st century banking and payment experience

Finally. So happy to have Point as my bank and primary payment card. They’ve built a great debit experience WITH POINTS. It’s nice to finally have a bank that’s working with me instead of supporting the big corporate greed monsters like chase, wells, Citi, etc. Great customer service on the rare occasion I need something too. And holy cow it’s an incredible UI and design. 10 stars if I could and I can’t wait to see what else they build. Ps - virtual cards are awesome. Thanks for building what consumers (like myself) long wanted in a banking and payment app.

Won’t answer my emails

I would not recommend this application! They gave me the run around by not answering my questions dealing with opening this account! At the end PointCard would not move to the final step after putting in my last four SSN and I have emailed them and gave them a few weeks to reply and still no answer, no account! They lied and said it was being processed manual and still nothing and no email! I saw the reviews and really wanted to give them a try! But screw it! I have never made bad reviews and this is my first time ever having to do this! They lost a future customer! I was willing to wait and wait but after a month still no update or an apology or something regarding me putting my personal information into this and not receiving anything back or something telling me what going on!!

Great App Experience

I love the layout of PointCard. Makes it super easy to see where my money is, how many points I have and what they are worth in a non clunky or redirected way that comes with my other banking and credit cards app.

I do wish there was an easy way to copy my virtual card for online spending easily into other card payment sections online. Maybe there is and I just haven’t figured it out. That also may not be an issue with PointCard , but just the current copy and paste abilities on phones. I don’t know but I think that’d be cool.

Sounds good at first...

Hello, I joined Point with the same curiously as everyone else. Especially with the intriguing APR of 1.5% on a checking account. I waited patiently for my card to come in the mail and then attempted to activate it, before I was prompted with the error “Card could not be activated”. I’m pretty tech savvy so I attempted to troubleshoot before reaching out to support (Restart app, phone, uninstall reinstall etc) with no success. I then reached out to support (text message support doesn’t work. Received a message 2 weeks later).
Reached out to email support, they were no help instructed me to do everything I had done then said they’d have to speak to a technician. After days with no response my first impression was ruined so I closed my account. Only to check and see my account and still open almost a month later. I do not recommend.

Great start!

The core message and value of PointCard is right on! I would just love a bit more polish in a few areas. 1. Starting with the splash screen, instead of flashing bright white, keep with the dark theme. 2. Have pending/cancelled transactions disappear/drop off from transaction history to help keep the history clean and efficient. 3. Chat functionality built into PointCard , even if it’s not instant. 4. Apple Pay!

Also, I’m not sure if it’s a bug, but I haven’t been getting push notifications for transactions.

Incredible banking experience!

Point has absolutely changed the way that I approach banking. I would definitely consider myself a card nerd. In the past, I fell for credit cards that were promising the best deals and 250,000 points for just signing up. I found myself swimming in debt and expensive credit card statements.

I feel like I finally found a card that is genuinely looking out for me. The Point app is not only providing a beautiful experience, but it also makes me feel I have more of a handle on my finances.

Truly one of the best banking experiences I’ve ever had with rewards for companies and experiences we A C T U A L L Y use! I’ve even become friends with one of the customer care reps and she’s an incredible help. If I notice that points haven’t been added to something I purchased that would warrant points, I’d see them in my account within minutes. The atm fees being returned to my account is huge and I loved having the 1.5% interest in my account (before the Covid-19 economy depression). Seriously my all time favorite bank.

Amazing! Not anymore

Update:

Transaction notifications lag like crazy I will make a charge then it won’t show until a few minutes later after I have left the location etc. very inconvenient and not issue to keep up with your balance. No widget so you must go back into PointCard everytime to see your current balance. Also you can’t redeem rewards until 1000 points which is a-lot! Also I have had issue adding money to cash app we’re the transfer will fail when the money is clearly there and also with Apple Pay. This things need to be worked out for PointCard to run smooth. Btw I am on. iPhone XS Max.

So excited basically a debt card with credit card rewards! Game changer app is simple and modern which I like! Also support is amazing! Can’t wait to get my debt card in the mail. It works with Apple Pay right out the gate! Which is so important for me. Only thing I am sad about is the lack of personal cards like advertised but I’m sure they’re working on it so we can have those soon! Super excited to switch my banking to point 🙌🏼

Awesome!!!

Been looking for a debit card that gives me rewards like a credit card! Since I’m in college, having a credit card isn’t something that I’m ready to get involved in but Point is the closest you can come with receiving these rewards while still keeping a debit card. Some pretty awesome features on PointCard as well that other big companies don’t have so kudos to whoever built it. Overall, a great app and would definitely recommend!

Best banking app in 2020!!

This is hands down the best banking app out there. The design of PointCard and the overall user experience are outstanding, the benefits and perks are great on par with credit cards. The todo is a nice touch and good reminder how to take advantage of the deal offered by PointCard . As an early user, It’s truly refreshing to see the focus was kept on the core experience. The rewards are amazing 🙌

I’ve exclusively used my Chase Sapphire Reserve for several years, thinking I was getting the most valuable points for my spend — wrong. Point rewards me for everyday spend like 3X on Lyft/Uber or 4X at coffee shops. It’s really a no-brainer. Not to mention the money in my account is earning 1.9% APY, unheard of for a checking account. Plus PointCard experience is beautiful so makes watching my points and interest accumulate that much more enjoyable.

They took my tax refund

Got notification my tax refund was available and the immediately sent it back due to a “third party error” and to stay tuned. Are you kidding me???? No phone number to call for support and text message support does not answer promptly at ALL. Maybe TEN fifteen minutes for a BS explanation. Ok where’s my money? THOUSANDS of dollars just missing. I am about to take things into legal matters. DO NOT BANK WITH THEM. I highly doubt they are even legit save yourself the nightmare. UPDATE they have locked me out of my account and prior refused to answer any of my questions. I am not able to access my account anymore.

Never received transfer of funds

Made a transfer into the Point Bank account via “instant” transfer from another connected bank card waited 5 days still wasn’t my point bank account. Contacted customer service two times was told i would have a credit to my account for the amount after showing them a screenshot of the completed transaction on my side. I waited 2 hours for the “ credit” never saw it contacted customer service again to ask when I should see this credit in my point account and never received a response.

Super clean design and experience with PointCard . Love the physical card as well and have gotten many comments on it... Rewards just make sense. Cash back for my seamless orders plus insurance for my phone so I don’t have to risk it without Apple care? No brainer even with subscription

It's cool and all but not really worth the time

So for starters you need to make a minimum transfer of 100$ from your main account to this point account. A little annoying but whatever. But I've made the transfer a few days ago and it STILL hasn't gone through yet and is pending. There's no reason it should be taking this long.
