People without sight need wills, too!

Ethos has no accessibility considerations for people without sight! The gender page requires that one select a picture, althouth there are text labels for “male” “female” and “nonbinary”, tapping the text label does nothing. I was told by an Apple accessibility Specialist that their are pictures associated with these choices, and, possibly they are the selection? If so, that is unusable for people without sight!I cannot get past this page, as there are no text labeled buttons.

Why would your developer(s) assume that only people with sight need to have wills? Producing heirs doesn’t require sight! Owning posessions, including real estate does not require sight! Inclusion is a right; and app developers MUST utilize the tools provided within the operating system, IOS, in designing apps that do not exclude, discriminate, people on the basis of whether they have working eyes! VoiceOver is included in all Apple products, and developers can easily design their apps so that those who are sight-dependent, as well as those without sight, can seamlessly use them. This is very upsetting to me, as your app was recommended by a well-respected source, and I need to write a will! Intentional or indifferent exclusion is unacceptable for today’s, or “tomorrow” applications!

Misleading advertisements

I was discussing this product on Instagram with someone, about how their ad is misleading. Apparently our conversation struck a nerve because they deleted both of our comments.

It’s a picture of two babies. Under one baby, who is crying, it says without a will, the court decides the guardian of your kids. Under a happy baby, it says choose a guardian of your child with a FREE WILL.

This product is misleading parents by emotionally manipulating them. Even with a will, the courts will be involved in the process. It will help the judge take into account what the parents want, but they will always investigate the best home for the child and ultimately make that decision. You are making parents feel like they are covered and have the final say solely because they have a will through your product.

This company needs to stop emotionally manipulating parents for their own gain. If their product could stand on its own, you wouldn’t need to manipulate people into using it. Yes, wills are helpful and important, but not the end all be all.

I wouldn’t trust the use of a company, especially for legal documents, who aren’t honest in their advertisement.

Needs Work

I probably should have read the reviews first. Ethos isn't as easy as it seems to navigate. Some fields don't register(which I saw in a previous review, and you'd think would take minutes to fix). They are missing options...like I can't add my mother in law as a gaurdian. The percentage section for heirs isn't adjustable. For such an important document, these types of things really need to be cleaned up. I quit the process for now, but may look into it when developers have done more work. Also, if I am going to be forced to send texts/emails to people about the document, I definitely won't use this. Those are private conversations that shouldn't be forced by a third party.

Needs more choices

I have items that I plan to leave to institutions but you only give me people to choose. Also, under my pets I can’t designate the person for one dog that’s different from the other. Both people appear under both dogs and that’s not right. If I remove one, they’re totally removed and when I add them back under family, they’re automatically added to my pets’ pages. This is incorrect. We need to be able to list institutions as beneficiaries as well as individuals for pets and other things like possessions. Ethos has potential but as it is now, it’s confusing and causes me to leave incorrect instructions.

App helped me do in minutes what I’ve been putting off for years!

This is an unbelievably simple and phenomenal app that makes a rather difficult process extremely easy! I was able to go through and create my will in less than 20 minutes, and the One time that I was uncertain about something I emailed their customer support and got a response back from Tori within 30 minutes! If you need to make a will absolutely download and use Ethos!

Spam your loved ones!

They don’t tell you until you put in all your personal information that you can’t complete the will without giving them all your relatives’ contact information AND waiting for those individuals to confirm their relationship with you. I would rather approach those conversations in my own way. Besides that, I don’t have their permission to give out their contact information. They would likely not respond to unexpected messages from an unfamiliar app, for fear that it’s a scam. I see this as an attempt to capture new contacts for your own purposes, because your customers could be served just as effectively by being reminded to share the will after it’s complete.

Now I can’t make the same mistake my Dad made

My father is in hospice, and I’m his only heir. For the past four months I’ve been doing all the legwork that he should’ve done to prepare for the inevitable. Ethos would’ve made this process so much more convenient. I’m glad I found it though; now I can start preparing everything for my son today.

Feedback: I accidentally added a stepmother that I can’t seem to delete. Help?

Good customer service!

**Update: the creators reached out and were able to solve my issue. They kept me updated on the process as they worked to correct the glitch.

Overall, an easy app to use and understand. However, after all the time spent creating my will, I can’t open the PDF. I thought this was an iPad glitch, so I downloaded Ethos on my iPhone, but same problem. Doesn’t matter how nice Ethos is if you can’t access the final document.

Needs Further Work!

I have emailed your support team; without answer, about a problem I have found when printing out the “Wealth” listing. It doesn’t list Bank Accounts in order, it does not print the account numbers or the owner of the account. It also doesn’t print out the account balances or force a second page to be printed to show the Liabilities in addition to the Assets. It would be nice if you could expedite a fix for these errors. Many thanks, Paul Green

The Easiest Way to Create a Will & Trust

My wife and I last did our will 13 years ago and so much has changed since. Our daughter is an adult, we have a cabin and a rental house and several deaths in the family. I really like Ethos as now I can just update my situation on my phone while thinking about it on the bus, print out the new will, sign an replace the old one. Very nice (and free).

Why the spying?

A will app is a great idea. Free would have been great also, EXCEPT each user agrees to allow this site to follow all browser usage! Why? What do they need to know about you? Why all the Personal contact information of each person you wish to leave anything to?
Ultimately nothing is for free. This is a service charging you all of your privacy to collect private, personal information and that of family members, finances and wealth.
Facebook, google and this site
Start out for the good of serving people but become vessels to explore all of our daily personal habits.
No thanks. Just another personal collection site.

Bothers me

So far Ethos was doing pretty good. Love how it brakes things down for me(if I didn’t know what it was), let’s me add photos/information (they way I want it to be) LOVE that it allows me to add my partner, BUT I really dislike that I can not continue to preview the will if I don’t allow it to contact the people I’ve listen. I don’t want them knowing until it is the proper time to know. This makes me uncomfortable that it wants to force me to do something I don’t not want todo. Please correct this because I shouldn’t have to let anyone know about the will

So simple!

I’ve been stressing out about creating a will for years now. My father passed away in March without a will, and that made me realize I needed to create one for my children. I did not realize the process was so simple. Ethos does it for free, and when I had a question, someone answered me right away!

Quick, but confusing

I just downloaded and starts using Ethos . It was quick and easy to use. My biggest issue was when trying to prepare “who will gets my assets” and “who will get my things” it suggested an upgrade to a living trust. That statement would be more efficient if the words “living trust” were a link to the upgrade page. Should be a simple fix. I like that it is easily updated and free.

Great idea, poor execution

I wanted to love Ethos, but I have deleted it and will look for another option to get my will created. I tried it a few months ago and had issues with it glitching out. I figured I’ll give them some time to get an update out, but after trying it again today I still had issues with it glitching out. Also, I wasn’t able to easily figure out how to make edits to family members. I don’t have time to tinker with an app as a pregnant mom with a toddler working a full time job in the chaos of 2020.

App Crashes

Update: Developer responded and fixed the issue. I’m updating my review.

App keeps crashing and deleting the information I input! Then it take multiple tries for Ethos to open. I wont pay for the extended service because Ethos doesn’t work.

No Help Available

Conceptually I think Ethos is perfect. Having one place for my loved ones to look should something happen to me gives me such piece of mind.

Unfortunately Ethos is a little glitchy. I have tried to enter my life insurance policy multiple times and it will not save, it just keeps offering me more insurance sales. I actually set up a policy through Ethos and it still does not save.

What is most frustrating is there doesn’t seem to be a way to contact the developer to fix.

Relieved

Ethos came as a relief. I have two small children and wasn’t sure where to start when thinking about a will and guardianship If something were to happen. This has been a relief to know that I have something recorded that can be referenced and my children will be with a designated caretaker.

Easy

It seems very easy and straight forward. I just wish you could edit the pictures for the profiles. A lot of the pics I have had other people in them and it would have been easier to zoom in on Ethos , rather than having to go into my pics and edit, then go back to Ethos . But otherwise, it’s good!

I’m breathing easier now.

Thank you for making this easy! I always thought doing my will would never happen because it seemed unreachable. This is not intimidating and easy. Gone are the days of putting important things off:)

Love it but one question

Phenomenal idea. A much needed app. One quick question - Ethos crashes when I tried to record a memory. It just closes. And it’s my first recording so I haven’t hit my limit. Any idea what might be happening? I have latest version 4.4.4 (the free one), brand new iPhone 11. The ability to record memories is the only thing in my mind that make it worth the annual fee for premium, so figuring this out is very important for me. Your feedback would be appreciated.

App is frozen...

...on a blue screen whenever I login. Just has my profile photo in upper right corner. Hate to put this info in a review, but there is no other place to contact support that I can find. I have the latest version of Ethos , latest iOS, tried re-starting my phone, nothing worked. I was able to get in earlier today no problem...please work on this bug, because otherwise I’d say the features look promising if it actually works correctly!
